Democrats are poised to inflict as much pain on us taxpayers as possible during the sequester in order to extort more taxes in the future.
They forgot to name the procedure a doom and gloom name like "Republican Apocalyptic Ispired Zombie Killer Bill " during the naming of the bill.
RAIZKillBill.

I'm not a big fan of winter, but winter light makes for some beautiful scenery.

How come the press never asks about what happens when employers are busted for having a lot of illegal immigrants working for them. (Doesn't happen that happens, but from time to time it does.)

Oh wait, a 2009 article by Alan Gomez in USA Today says what happened at a Swift meat packing plant: Swift very quickly found US citizens and legal residents able to replace them.

Wow, how can that be? These are the famous "jobs Americans won't do"!

Omigosh, so if we enforced E-Verify, it would open up millions of jobs for Americans who are now dependent on welfare, food stamps, and the whole rest of it. People like African-Americans with low educational credentials, who are increasingly giving up on the job market.

How come the newspaper forgot to tell us that?

Gee I can't imagine why.

I shouldn't post this, but a few of you have paved the way. Paging Inga!

My wife just earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing Science from U. Penn. Me 'n' the boys are very proud of her. Throw any symptom or medicine name at her, and she has a response!

Summa cum laude! OK, I'll shut up for now.

Thought that you were going to show a real snow bike, that you can ride down the mountain, and has skis instead of tires. That, is a real gas to ride. Did some of that maybe 5 years ago when I was working at a ski area, and we got to ride them for free.

Real trick is to ride them like you carve on skis, instead of the natural skidding, if you don't lean and crank the handle bars too sharply. Just imagine the arc of the two skis, when you turn, and you can get up quite a bit of speed, as you carve back and forth. Great fun.

Wondering if the kid/person on that bike got it off of Amazon from the Blog's Amazon portal.

I know what you mean. The Blonde got hers only after much long hardship, but she was also working full time.

Many congrats, and I hope she decides to stay in the profession.

As Herself is wont to say, nursing is the only profession that eats its young.

(I'd add programming, but I've seen the dirty deals nurses have gotten)

PS Get used to being assessed.

A lot.

When a nurse walks into my or my kid's room with a few wrinkles around her eyes and an "I'm gonna fix you whether you enjoy it or not" attitude, I know I'm in the right place. I've had good nurses and bad, and overall, I prefer the ones who have been around the block.

I'm going to be in Milwaukee next week on business, staying downtown. Any suggestions on a place to eat?

SteveR, try out Hinterland Gastropub, third ward Milwaukee. Very good beer and sandwiches.

When you go bad at 2 am, it's not the doctor that's gonna save your worthless ass, it's the nurse.

To that end about 5 years ago for Christmas, I got Herself this T-shirt.

Not to mention this one and her absolute fave.

The rest of it says "... hours a week. And what did you say you did for a living?"; her all-purpose rejoinder to uppity doctors, lawyers, engineers, and other insignificant types.

We have a small squadron here.

At least 2, sometimes 3, orbit and call out signals to each other.

The Blonde has put them on notice regarding Sherlock.

All draws for the third day in a row at the very strong 4-man double round robin chess trnmt in Zurich. World Champion Vishy Anand could only draw with the white pieces against his former WCC challenger Boris Gelfand of Israel. And former World Champion V. Kramnik took a draw against the young super GM Fabiano Caruana. Who will draw first blood? All these draws. It's very hard to defeat someone at this level. Anand is probably hiding some preparation for his defense of the WCC later this year. As the challenger hasn't been chosen they could all be hiding their most promising openings and novelties.

@Ellison congratulations to your wife. Good job.

Congratulations. My son hopes to join her later this year. He's in a race to graduate before his first child is born.

wyo sis, there still seems to be a thing about male nurses. I just had an appendectomy and was in the ICU for a bit, and my male nurse was a maniac. He's one of the best listeners, care-givers, and advisors I've ever encountered. I lucked out.

Female nurses have been great to me, too, but I want to point out that it goes according to talent, skill, education, and dedication, not gender. My wife will make her patients better. That's what good nurses do, no matter who they are.

There are a lot more male nurses now than there used to be. I don't know how they do in general, but my son will be great. He has all the right stuff for the job. He's a bit of a maniac as well. He wants to do surgical work, but wouldn't rule out critical care. I'd go crazy, but it's just what he would do best.

Hello. My name is Chip Ahoy and I'm from the United States Federal Bureau of Approved Charts. I've been directed to present a corrected copy of the fallacious "Can You Find the "Savage" Sequester Cuts?" chart that was presented on this site earlier. Please accept for publication this corrected presentation, in lieu of fines or citations that could total up to $5,000 per day or up to 30 day jail. Failure to comply could result in further notification and citations.

The problem with the original graph is that the cuts are presented against total federal spending so that they appear minuscule and recognizing important role of government nobody on either side of the debate expects government expenditures to be zero, and yet the chart starts at zero and climbs upward through ordinary government expenditures so the graph builds into it a lot of dark ink space in order to inappropriately gear emotional response, when the subject under discussion is the cuts at the surface of government expenditures. So the proper graph using the same information provided although even that has not be appropriately processed through appropriate channels, will use the information where the action is, at the top, and pull that down like a window shade to fill the space and gear the chart for the proper emotional response. Because nobody is talking about eliminating all government expenditures, that portion is left out. The approved version looks like this: "Of Course We Can See the Savage Sequester Cuts"

A copy is filed with Citizens For Responsible Government.

One of The Blonde's nieces is set to marry one. He's also a fireman and a chef.

Thank you Big Mike and everyone. My wife worked hard and is almost as proud as her husband and boys are. She will be a great nurse.
