"An evangelical pastor from Atlanta announced Thursday that he would not give the benediction at President Obama’s swearing-in ceremony..."

"... after a sermon he gave on homosexuality in the mid-1990s resurfaced earlier this week."
In that sermon, the Rev. Louie Giglio called for Christians to “firmly respond to the aggressive agenda” of some in the gay community and warns that widespread gay marriage ”would run the risk of absolutely undermining the whole order of our society.”

Obama came to openly accept gay marriage well into his first term... and even then it was touted as a Joe Biden gaff.

1) Obama's view then was a problem, although obviously McCain was worse.

2) It was clear, even back then, that Obama was going to be a marriage equality supporter, and was going to announce it when he could. I cut him a little slack for the sake of political expediency.

Because there weren't any black males to funnel into the quota system for the obvious reasons.

Thus, fat white spoiled brats like Andy became the focus. In order to work this scam, the Andys had to be promoted to martyr status.

If not for that, all the quota spots would have gone to white women and that would have really looked bad.

It always used to be that you could get away with a little gay-hating if you claimed you were doing it in the name of Christianity. I thought it would be a lot longer until that excuse wouldn't fly.

But perhaps I was overly pessimistic. Perhaps the effort to call Christians "bigots" when they offer their religiously inspired gay-hating has paid off!

Essentially: we all understand the left is lying whenever it moderates its image in order to appeal to the public.

The real question is why anyone believes leftists who attack those asserting that leftists like Obama are lying when (for example) they claim to want a balanced approach to solving fiscal problems.

Obama was and is a vessel for whatever hopes progressives wanted to fill him with. So he doesn't express what you think he believes? "I cut him a little slack for the sake of political expediency." Sure you did. Obama is your Psychic Friend. He knows what you want and what you hope for. He couldn't possibly harm you.

That kind of magic thinking is what got Obama his "aspirational" Nobel Peace Prize. And all those drones raining bombs on Pakistanis, and those hundreds of Mexicans shot by drug cartels who were armed by the Justice Department...well never mind.

No, it wasn't. It was clear to YOU because you wanted to believe it. It was NOT clear at all to other people, probably including this preacher, and there was no particular reason to believe that Obama was going to be a gay marriage supporter. Obama really is the sum total of his base's wish fulfillment, whatever they project onto him. Then he picks and chooses what to front, for the sake of political expediency. Too bad for black people they don't have the financial and political clout of the poor oppressed gays.

"announce it when he could"
Right, what exactly was holding him back all these years until an election year when he was struggling?

If a person believes the Bible, then they have no choice but to see homosexual sex as sinful behavior. That is not anti-gay.

Anti-gay is slurring people who engage in that behavior. Stating that the Bible condemns the behavior is simply accurate.

Note Andy's inability to distinguish the argument. The argument is that those defending politicians from accusations of lies are not honest, as he admitted above. He claims this is an expectation of honesty from politicians. But in fact those defending the politicians are resting their case on the honesty of politicians. So in fact his criticism applies not to those who he claims are dumb, but to those attacking them.

There is this weird dynamic here where people act like I'm the stupid one.

Do you remember the primaries? And the election? How many of you said Obama was going to lose?

Remember how I said Obama was going to win? And I even explained why Romney was going to lose, way back in the primaries. (And the post-election analysis confirmed much of what I said.) I realize I can be snarky and rude and all that, but there were obvious weaknesses with Romney and I was pointing them out and saying why he was in trouble while a ton of people were claiming he would win and arguing that I was wrong.

And now the election is over and people pretend like the previous year-long discussions/debates here that I was right about and others were wrong about didn't even happen...
