At the Michigan protests: "I was sucker-punched 4 times on camera, without retaliation, choked..."

"... and the AFP tent is torn to the ground with women and children inside of it. Extremely violent footage."

Union thugs... in broad daylight, on camera. Are they stupid... or do they know something about the willingness of the authorities to enforce the law?

I really want to be part of a retirement account. I want to enjoy all the rewards that people who contribute to that retirement account enjoy. BUT, I don't want to contribute!

That is a very odd thing coming from a Democrat who believes in taxing the rich more to benefit the people who don't contribute.

MayBee said...

Why are people who are not in unions themselves so opposed to giving other people the right not to join a union?

What employer will watch that video and say, "I want to move my business to Michigan and have a union workforce!"?

No, I said once [learn to read], that were reports that AFP members were untying ropes that moored it to the poles holding up the tent.

There's the useless garage, hiding behind word games too cowardly to even own his own conspiracy theories.

On the bright side he obviously realizes how useless he is. Instead of making a single substantive point his contribution to leftism is simply annoying non-leftists. At least we agree that's the best use he can find for his "intellect".

Yup. The impression one gets from his comments in this thread are that irregardless of the strength of the evidence he will deny, distort, and deflect. His projected image here is that his is willing to lie on any subject except fishing and he seems just fine with that persona. I hope he does not conduct his meat life in the same way.

Can somebody explain WHY conservatives should even attempt to "peacefully" demonstrate?

Why SHOULDN'T we be violent? It seems to work well.

Lessons are being taught. Some people are learning them.

I don't understand the compulsion to violence. It seriously undermines any cause.

Progressives have absolutely no issue with it.

So, why shouldn't conservatives just kick the shit out of union goons physically?

There were many report of KochBots loosening ropes inside at least one of the tents. It did appear to come down from the inside.

Can you cite one?

And can somebody "accidentally" burn down a union goon's house? You know, accidentally.

There isn't a doubt in my mind Crowder and tea party groups went to the protest to goad protesters.

And rape victims were dressed in a way that made them deserve it too, no doubt.

As for the remark about garage's kid or anyone else's kid in general or who comment here, that's just beyond the pale.

2 months later he was bragging about the family's new TREK bicycles.

At 1:57 the woman cried out again “there’s people in there,” but to no avail. You can then see various people probing at large lumps under the tent, presumably checking if anyone was trapped. Yet the crowd continued with its profane taunts, as others lifted the edges of the tent and looked underneath, again presumably to see if anyone was trapped.

Someone shouts “go home you bunch of parasites” as the crowd chanted “Go Home.” At 3:30 someone asks, “does someone want to help me lift this? I wonder if there are any people in there.” Then another person said, “there was, there was a bunch of women and older people.” Then another person yelled, “fuck these people.” Another yelled, “they want a war, they got it.”

Here's a transcript describing those garage supports as they stomp on the tent unconcerned that their actions may injure people. It takes a special sort of slime to attack people for "goading" while excusing this. And if "goading" is such a big deal it merits violence in response how does garage justify his participation on this blog? Since he offers nothing how else can his presence be described other than goading? In his own worldview is he just asking for someone to kick his ass?

What they apparently don’t want you to see is union members using knives to cut the tent open to let people inside out. Rather, the message that is being sent by the conservative media and blogosphere is that the union members deliberately cut the tent to pieces in an act of malicious vandalism. As Matt Shalda points out in his comments HERE, the union members actually ask, “Is everybody out?” and then proceed to make sure that they are.

If you want to see a blatant act of theater on Crowder’s part, keep watching that segment. At 2:07, Crowder asks the cameraman “are you recording this?” The cameraman answers, “Yes”, then Crowder acts as if he’s being roughly shoved back into the crowd unprovoked. If you watch closely, the guy who supposedly pushed him has his hands by his side.

More Breitbart/Fox edited hackery.

We had to cut the tent to save the people we'd trapped in the tent when we pulled it down!

Hey, how about this. They leave the tent alone. It isn't their property.

No doubt he has some excuse why the punches on video didn't happen either. Garage is really hanging out the nuttiness for everyione to see. Eventually they all do.

Not really. His face looked fine to me afterward.

MayBee said...

Seriously, did you watch the video on that DailyKos video, Garage?

There is nothing redeeming. They obviously tore down the tent, then started cutting it up. One guy says, "We need to get these people out of here", but it is uncertain whether he is talking about getting people out of the tent, or getting the AFP people out of Lansing.

But come on. The union people had no right to start tearing down the tent in the first place. They had no right to just start cutting it up to "save" anyone they might have just put in jeopardy.

What's wrong with just saying these guys make Unions look bad and should have just left AFP alone?

Steve Koch said...

"This is why the dumbest thing conservatives can do is criticize any conservative media. Truth is immaterial to Progs."

Lefties are not committed to the truth since it gets in the way of producing propaganda. Conservatives are committed to the truth so they are going to criticize conservative media when it is wrong. This forces conservative media to be more truthful than lefty media, which makes conservative media more credible and trust worthy.

MayBee said...

Steve Koch said...

It is this simple, unions have a business model that depends on government coercion to succeed. Without government coercion, without government forcing workers to join unions, unions do poorly.

Unions are a typical dem privileged interest group (PIG). That is, they are rent seekers who extract government enforced unfair economic advantage for their group at the expense of citizens who aren't in PIGs.

garage mahal said...

But you saw there was someone punching his face, right?

It should be noted that Michigan Proposal 4: The Unionization of Home-Based Caregivers, a state wide referendum proposal was defeated by an over 10% margin by the same state wide voters who elected Obama. In short, even "deep blue" couldn't stomach it.

Quite simply, the state's voters voted against dues collection without representation (sound familiar?) as there is no mechanism for the SEIU to actually negotiate for the benefit of home care givers.

MayBee said...

I saw him trying to, yea. Is Crowder pressing charges?

I don't know. Does it matter?

Aridog said...

Another odd note...the 2nd protester implicated in the violence, name Opalewski (sic?) is wearing a U S Army Corps of Engineers hardhat. It is not either of the two versions issued by Detroit District in Michigan, Wisconsin, eastern Minnesota, or northern Indiana. It's odd because of the USACE origin worn by a IBEW jacket wearing dude, and because it appears not to be the dielectric version of the two local USACE issues.

The dielectric version used by the Corps is the same model my old battered hard hat from the late 60's when I worked in confined spaces where electrical cables were in close proximity. Only difference is mine is yellow and acquired from the old McLouth Steel and the Corps edition is white with red band and Corps logo on it.

If you look carefully at several of the hard hats worn to give the image of gritty worker you will see what looks like versions right out of Hollywood central prop rooms.

Is this a game where we are supposed to denounce all the things we aren't talking about in the middle of this thread about something we are very specifically talking about? The union violence, which you keep explaining away. That's what this thread is about.

Now, why are you bringing up stormtroopers? I'm happy to denounce what you describe.

Aridog said...

Garage ... you say you say the assailent "try?" Dang....

How deep in denial are you? The left hook to Crowder's face is plainly illustrated in the video screen capture I cite.

Two simple questions:

1. Have you ever belonged to a union? (So you might have some experience with union operations?)

2. Have you ever been in fist fight? (So that you might recognize a left hook to the jaw if you saw one?)

I ask this as someone who has advocated for skilled trades unions...a position I am re-thinking now since the skilled trade IBEW has behaved like SEIU thugs.

Been in plenty of fights. That's why I have very little sympathy for the Breitbart/Koch rent boy going and looking for trouble. In fact, this stupid fucker makes it almost next to impossible.

Seriously:

Speaking on the Dana Loesch radio show immediately following the physical confrontation, Crowder said “Dana, they literally would have killed me where I stood if I’d of fought back and defended myself after the sucker punch. They literally would have torn me limb-from-limb.”

Steve Koch said...

It looks like more and more states will be enacting right to work laws and laws which prevent the state from deducting union dues from the paychecks of state union members. I never would have thought that Michigan, of all states, would enact right to work laws. Both types of laws are devastating to the union movement, thus depriving the dems of huge amounts of cash and free political workers.

Steve Koch said...

Hilarious: garage criticizing rhetorical overreach minutes after calling the police stormtroopers. It's almost like he thinks you can be a nut but still have your arguments taken seriously.

It is shameful that Obama continues to accept and even encourage leftist violence ("hit them back twice as hard"). He should be condemning these attacks by union thugs and other dems on conservatives. For those who followed the Tea Party rallies, it was a common occurrence for union thugs to beat up and harass Tea Partiers. One time the union thugs even beat up a Tea Party guy who was confined to a wheel chair. Shameful behavior, especially when you consider this is all about using government coercion to force people to join unions against their will.

BTW, have any of the lefties who frequent Althouse blog condemned this union thuggery, let alone agreed that forcing people to join a union against their will is a gross deprivation of their liberty?

Really? Then why do only admit to the IBEW dude "trying" to hit Crowder? It is very plan he hit him.

Is the "rent boy" asking to get punched when he questions why a group is tearing at a tent on public property?

You have a funny idea about free speech and dissent...if liberal it is okay to scream yell and insult others, but if conservative you are asking for a butt kicking?

Reasonable response.

I've been wondering if the women who vote dem have really thought this through. Areas that are dem strongholds (Chicago, for example) tend to be much more violent and politically corrupt than conservative areas. How stupid/ignorant do you have to be to not realize that voting for a Chicago dem pol is a vote for corruption and lawless government? Do women really want to live in a lawless country where might makes right and crime (including political crime) runs rampant?

Do you want it to be legal to discriminate against your son(s)? Some day he is going to ask you why you voted for a party that discriminates against him. He will have every right to be very angry with you.

Steve Koch said...

From Fox News:

"It’s a sad day for American TV journalism when The Huffington Post is a more honest news outlet than ABC, CBS or NBC. On Tuesday, after Michigan union protests escalated into violence, HuffPo led with several stories, including one headlined: “Fox News Contributor Punched.”
That story was about how Fox News contributor Steven Crowder and others were attacked by union thugs during the protest against the new “right-to-work” law. ABC, CBS and NBC covered the protests but only ABC made mention of police having to deal with protesters. None of them mentioned the attack on Crowder or showed the videos of that attack and the thugs tearing down a tent with people in it, both widely available on the Internet hours before the evening news show broadcast. No network quoted Teamsters head Jimmy Hoffa predicting “civil war” between lawmakers and union members."

The American news media is a never ending corrupt lefty disgrace. Why any non lefty would watch this propaganda as a reliable source of news is a puzzler. Conservative should organize boycotts of ABC, NBC, and CBS. Pick one network at a time so it will be at competitive disadvantage wrt the other two networks.

You don't say "this was wrong and that was too" you say "this never happened at all but all my claims are true." Protesters breaking laws are suddenly "peaceful", no matter what they shit on or what they destroy. And clear video evidence is a clever ruse.

No problem...the thug was part of the mob tearing down the tent and either slipped and fell or got knocked over in the crush of goons cutting tent straps and ropes and pulling it down. That'd be the same collection of goons who tore the hot dog vendor's things apart, knocked them to the ground, calling him Ni**er and Uncle Tom and stood around watching him try to pick up his stuff. Hell of a group you support there.

BTW...the entire video, including the little stubby dude who threw punches, as well as the mouthy faux-USACE member who also threw punches, and bragged he'd killed 20 men already, has been available from moment one. Any editing done didn't make it to any of the videos I've seen.

But you take your MOBY ass and believe whatever fiction you create, uhm-kay.

Dr Weevil said...

Maybe the thug fell down, but maybe he was just pretending to fall down, so he could deceive naive people like 'unsilenced dogood'.

It's been a long time since I dealt with a striking union, but I still recall the official from the Chicago janitors' union who threw himself under a parked truck and claimed he'd been run over. In fact, the truck was stationary, the driver (me) was standing next to it with the keys in his pocket, and the "run-over" guy was just fine 10 minutes later.

The apartment complex I lived in in 1976-77 had fired their union janitor for being a drunk who had repeatedly tried to molest female residents. When they realized that they could get all the same work done more competently and for free by providing a basement apartment to a grad student couple at the nearby U. Chicago, they decided there was no reason to pay $18 an hour for 30 hours a week (I think those were the numbers) plus the free apartment for another useless union thug. The garbage collectors wouldn't cross a picket line to pick up our trash, so we got a U-Haul to haul it away ourselves. That's when the union lying thug pulled his little "help! I've been run over" acting bit. Anyone still wondering why I despise unions and their lying supporters like garage mahal?

By the way, many Hyde Park residents sympathized with the janitors because of another trick they used. They couldn't be bothered to picket themselves, except once when they came to sing their (really stupid) union fight song for an hour and then went home. That's when we learned that they were 80% white (in Chicago!) and 90% fat and middle-aged. The pickets they hired for minimum wage were 100% black teenagers, whom many foolish locals thought were the actual janitors, not realizing that they were too lazy (and too flush with cash) to bother to show up for their own strike.
