The GOP goes after Obama, using Obama's own line, from 2008: "If you don't have a record to run on, you make a big election about small things."

Love it. Great ad.
It is racist to use Obama's words against him...
Hey Althouse, gonna vote for your guy Obama again?
It would be edifying to read you justify voting for this clown in 2008.
Effective. I'm not so sure that what Obama is doing is name calling. It's kinda incoherent use of buzz words and snark.
Predictable lead story this morning in Yahoo:
Vote for Obama or You're a Racist! Complete with expert academic opinion!
Commenters aren't amused or fooled.
BO: "He's a bullshitter!"
Reporter: "Thosse are you're own words, Mr. President."
BO: "..."(gives reporter the stare of death. Reporter doesn't die).
BO: under his breath "Man! I don't understand! That totally works for Darth Vader! The only godlike figurehead cooler than me!"
Did anybody else picture this prariedog when watching the last debate?

The only thing better would be Big Bird, Binders, Bayonets, and Benghazi.
The president is very small human being.

Some find a sneer is better than a thesis.
Love it.
Not sure how this will play with independents -- but speaking for the base, it sure fires me up.
He's a lawyer. Don't they train lawyers that:
1. If you have the facts, argue the facts.
2. if you don't have the facts, argue the law.
3. If you don't have the law, pound on the table.
Obama For Obama is at stage three denial.
Kaus has a related piece here.
I made a similar point on a recent debate thread that Obama was acting like an internet blogger / commenter: going for the shocking angle of any issue, relying on mockery, sarcasm, and humiliation to "debate" the other side, etc.
If Obama succeeds, it's depressing to think what future Democratic presidential campaigns will look like.
The Obama campaign reminds me of Gachnar the Fear Demon (6 inches tall) from that Buffy episode, Fear, itself.
XANDER: Who’s the little fear demon? Come on, who’s the little fear demon?
GILES: Don’t taunt the fear demon!
XANDER (jumping back): Why? Can it hurt me?
GILES: No… It’s just tacky.
Our 13 year-old in chief. Small wonder he had no idea about protecting an ambassador in a dangerous country or even trying to save him.
He know only campaigning. The ad that shows him repeating the same lines from 2008 is devastating.
BTW--since I was riffing on the alliteration of B words, perhaps I should have included "bull shitter"
The president is indeed a small man
I knew he was pretty immature for a 51 year old, but I wasn't aware he still felt the need to watch Big Bird.
Yes the Romney camp has been full of big issues like pointing out how it must be the color of Colin Powell that would cause him to support Obama and it could't possible be because of Mitt's moving target foreign policy.
They figure they need to reach into the moron demographic.
"The president is indeed a small man"
If he gets re-elected, we're going to need a microscope to find him by the time he's done.
If this asshole loses he will not go quietly. He is a small, petulant, brittle child. As is most of his base. Neither will realize that he has accomplished what the GOP could not have in twenty years....a complete reversal of fortunes. Sadly the price of this is the monumental task of repairing the damage that has been done.
... Mitt's moving target foreign policy.
I thought the liberal complaint against Romney was that he was all too specific, i.e., in his criticism of Obama's actions in Benghazi.
And, Romney turned out to be right.
Don't you think, R/V, that it would be more respectful to address Romney by either his last name or as "Gov. Romney?" Using his familiar name is quite disrespectful and shows a lack of seriousness on your part.
And James Taranto (follow Althouse's "Best of the Web" link) wrote:
"Remember when the media portrayed Obama as "the adult in the room" during the debt-ceiling negotiations? Now he seems to be aiming to run the most juvenile campaign ever."
Perhaps he thinks running a juvenile campaign is how to recapture the youth vote?

You must not have noticed the campaign thus far. With your nose up in Obama's private parts, maybe you can't see or hear it.
I would also appreciate a link to the Romney campaign's statement about Powell and skin color.
Liar.
RV--for whats it worth, Colin Powells color is not important to me nor his endorsement of Mr Obama.
Colin Powell is a victim of Potomac Fever (IMO) and doesnt want to forclose any options in the event of an Obama win. YMMV of course. Your racial explanations say more about you than you might think.
Fox has been running with the same idea for a couple of weeks, especially Hannity.
Of course, Barry did this last time, too.

Supposedly the Stare Of Death came from Barry wearing an earpiece. anybody think he'd be listening to a ball game?
Michael K was a bit more incisive than I was, but I would appreciate your citation of a comment from the Romney campaign.
@R/V - Big difference between something a Romney supporter says off the cuff and then later retracts and things Obama repeats ad nauseum on the campaign trail.
It's not really equivalent.
edutcher-i suspect Mr Obama might have indeed been listening to a ball game. He clearly hasnt been paying attention to anything else.
I received a card in the mail highlighting the following changes from January, 2009 to now.
Americans out of work, up 1.6MM
Gas prices, up 111%
National debt,up 51&
Family income, down $4,908
Americans in poverty, up 6.9MM
If Obama keeps claiming that he inherited the worst economy since the Great depression, what will a President Romney inherit? In fact, if Obama wins, he can ironically claim that it was all his predecessor's fault.
"Hey Althouse, gonna vote for your guy Obama again?
It would be edifying to read you justify voting for this clown in 2008."
I see this a lot in the comments here, and it makes me scratch my head. This is a blog after all. If you really want to know why Ann voted for Obama, she blogged extensively about it at the time. Just go back and read the posts. It's easy.
I also voted for Obama in 2008, though like Ann, I was never ecstatic about my choice. I like this ad a lot. I think it sums up Obama's failures and his transformation nicely. I voted early for Mitt this time around.
"I would also appreciate a link to the Romney campaign's statement about Powell and skin color."
I'd like to see that too, RV.
Or is it just something Chris Matthews pulled out of his ass and you've swallowed?
So Romney has binders of women, and Obama has binders of Muslims.
Link
In a bid to get more Muslim Americans working in the Obama administration, a book with resumes of 45 of the nation’s most qualified — Ivy League grads, Fortune 500 executives and public servants, all carefully vetted — has been submitted to the White House.
Big Bird is worth about 400 million which is more than Romney is worth.
Every Marine today has a bayonet as part of his equipment.
The most effective part of the ad was the end, when you're trying to read what's on the screen and you have Obama's muted, little voice rambling in the background. What's he saying? It doesn't matter because it's petty and trite. It's just noise. It's distracting. Oh! Just like real life!
Nice ad. I don't understand the hip-hop sample looping throughout. Is that racism? Perhaps. No, these are Republicans. Definitely.
So Romney has binders of women, and Obama has binders of Muslims.
No, Obama has blinders full of women. He's fixated on abortion and glass ceilings. It's all he sees. Outside the blinders you'll find Libya and the economy and the national debt.
If I were a better artists, I'd draw a cartoon titled "Blinders Full of Women," showing this exact thing. But I can't draw.
