"Angelina Jolie has reportedly expressed desire to direct, while 'American Psycho' author Bret Easton Ellis began lobbying to write the screenplay..."

"I’m putting myself out there to write the movie adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey,'" Ellis tweeted. "Hope EL James doesn’t think I’m being a prankster. I really want to adapt her novels for the screen. Christian Grey is a writer's dream..."

Everyone's gone mad for sado-masochism and that grisaille billionaire.

They need to find a way to get Gilbert Gottfried in the movie.

You can't sneeze in a writers guild or forum without knocking down ten women who think they are writing the next "romanitca" and comparing their work to 50 Shades.

I would think, given the source material, it would be easier to bring to the screen than Hunger Games so more power to Jolie. Does she still wear Billy's blood 'round her next?

Now I know what grisaille means. I'm not going to try to pronounce it because it might not be obvious. I don't know when I'll get the opportunity to heave it into a conversation either.

No, Jolie, you do not want to direct this dog. I wonder if she actually said that.

I haven't read these books yet, but from what I hear the movie would be pretty much X rated, right? That or they will have to do a lot of editing.

Christian Grey is a writer's dream.

Except those dreams usually begin with Dear Penthouse Forum. . .

Sounds like all the "method" actresses who lived with the hookers to get a "feel" for their lives.

According to rule 34, the movie version already exists, and that rule is unimpeachable.

Was "9 1/2 Weeks" X-rated?

Seems to me that 50 Shades of gray is redundant. The genre has been done much better with Pauline Reage's "The Story of O" and Anne Rice's "Beauty" trilogy.

I'd like to see Jolie redo Story of O for the modern audience. That might be interesting.

50 Shades of gray? Not so much.

No. It was cut down to get an R rating, but released as an unrated version on DVD.

I suppose Grey could land an NC-17.

'I suppose Grey could land an NC-17.'

If so, I predict Showgirls redux.

No matter what, the movie will be a stinker. Not necessarily a money-losing stinker, but it will be a stinker.

No, regrettably, Kim Basinger remained fully and/or partially clothed throughout the movie.

If so, I predict Showgirls redux.

Yes, but a Glorious stinker that trumpeted its stinkiness, yea wallowed in it.

Given that "Fifty Shades of Grey" is known to have started out as erotic Twilight fan-fiction, I wonder -- does the author of "Twilight" have a claim on the intellectual property here?
