"A group of self-identified conservatives say they plan to sabotage the effort to recall Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker..."

"... which begins on Tuesday, by burning and shredding recall petitions they've collected and misleading Wisconsinites about the recall process."

Mother Jones notes some Facebook postings about plans to do something that is, in fact, a Class 1 felony in Wisconsin.

Dem poseurs preemptively making excuses for recall failure already?!? That can't be a good sign.

Shocka. More from the Voting Integrity Party.

And Scott Fitzgerald hasn't ruled out running fake Democrats. Again.

Funny, but if it's being reported by Mother Jones ... I think the story isn't true. Nobody on the "collection level" would be willing to go to jail.

On the other hand, "collecting signatures" is a BUSINESS!

Did you know, when you see people standing outside of Walmart, asking you to sign one of their petitions ... is making 50-cents per signature?

As to "going to jail, now ...

There's an interesting book about Pelosi, and Boehner. Written by a conservative, Peter Schweizer. That says Boehner and Pelosi ... and others ... have been making stock market profits on the legislation they pass. And, they won't go to jail. Because you can't accuse a sitting member of congress of "insider trading."

As to a "recall of Walker," ... where you get ALL of Wisconsin to vote ... would give Walker another WIN!

That it's expensive to be in office? Sure. That's why the democraps are going ape shit ... at trying to get the republicans to lose.

Oh. And, while I'm at it. Occupy Wall Street is gonna bring some politicians down. Because more people are so unimpressed with the crap that passes for "news" ... As the media keeps trying to "bait" the public.

Oh! I saw the bumper sticker I'd like to have:

Vote Republican! There's enough time to vote democrat after you're dead.

As I said last week, no Wisconsin Democrat will be surprised with the ever increasing imaginative dirty tricks.

Republicans are so concerned with voter fraud that they are willing to change voter laws that disenfranchise thousands of voters, yet congratulate themselves on voter fraud when they are the perps.

Just like when a Walker supporter and campaign contributor from Michigan filed recall papers on Walker last week. May not have been illegal, but pretty damn unethical.

jeff said...

"Republicans are so concerned with voter fraud that they are willing to change voter laws that disenfranchise thousands of voters, yet congratulate themselves on voter fraud when they are the perps."

Where do you see Republicans as perps? Where do you see Republicans congratulating themselves?

Who do you see as a Republican? When did they register? Who did they last vote for? Have they voted before? Looking at the article, I seriously doubt any of them even left their house, much less destroy 20K signatures. But you say they have done this? When? Where? How do you know? Are we to assume anything on facebook is to be considered fact? Or are you abusing a strawman?

Thomas said...

It's a species of election fraud, so we know that it doesn't exist.

These obviously aren't serious people, but as I read the statute it isn't clear to me that collecting and then destroying signatures would count as a violation. There's nothing fraudulent about their destruction. Their fraud would be in the collection, and there's no law against fraudulently collecting signatures one doesn't intend to use.

More uncompromising journalism from Mother Jones--monitoring Facebook postings for potential wrongdoing.

How about reporting on these self-identified conservatives actually sabotaging the recall effort and committing that class 1 felony?

edutcher said...

Self-identified?

Well, that makes it clear who they are.

Just like the (Godwin alert) Commies set fire to the Reichstag and the Poles fired on Germany first.

Is this similar to the democrats crying "voter fraud" 2 years before the next election?

By definition, "conservatives" do not engage in voter fraud, or illegal tactics.

If so, I need a copy of the memo-so I can disassociate from the conservative policital philosophy.

As for Allie, where do you begin. As usual stating "facts" that are bullshit, but adding the additional confusion of things that are planned in the future being now in the past...

Dumb as a stump.

Do you even read your fucking links? The 2002 issue had nothing to do with voter fraud, or votes. Zero.

You are an idiot.

Curious George, give your fellow conservatives credit for being able to think on their own, they don't need you to "explain" it to them.

There is a HISTORY of Republican monkey business, so it stands to reason that it would not be a surprise if this practice continued in the future, now go eat your banana, like good little monkey.

"Wow, there sure is a lot of excitement to get the recall going. Due to a surge in traffic we have been forced to scale back our site," the message said. "But no worries, recall petitions will be available" at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday."

`Death Threats' [aka bad jokes] on Facebook are investigated and taken with dire seriousness.

Threats of election fraud ... no big deal.

Either Facebook statements are a joke, or they are not. Which is it?

Matt said...

The guy's name is William Jenkins and his facebook profile for the guy who made the threat reads:

Kenosha Unified School District
UNION SLAVE LABORER · Jan 1997 to present · Kenosha, Wisconsin
Dealing with white trash, illegal immigrants, and criminal gang black kids isn't fun and games.

He says he is canvassing an area and will destroy 15k to 20k petitions. Who knows if he is lying or not but if he is dumb enough to go public then I am sure someone will investigate.

You state that you don't know if your vote counted, you are asked if you meant "the SC election", and you say even longer ago (2002). Your link has info regarding 2002 that has nothing to do with voting.

And now this blah blah blah. So try again.

BTW, capitalizing stuff doesn't make you any less a moron.

From the Crooks and Liars article;

"Something stinks to high heaven in Wisconsin. This may take the Justice Department to clean this up.

Karoli adds:

There's more. In 2006, she had some difficulty with absentee ballots. In 2006 again, we have her using the exact same excuse for why she accidentally reported one candidate ahead when the other one really was. Seems she moved data into the wrong column. We've heard that one before, haven't we? In 2007 she blamed touch screen voting machines for flipping a school board election result. The margin? One vote.

In 2004, she had another "oopsie moment" and sent out sample ballots instructing voters to vote for her favorite candidate. Also in 2004, incorrect ballots went to voters in two different districts, so that 83 votes were cast for the wrong candidates. And it seems that close races are something common in Waukesha County."

Hey Allie,

I have worked at polling places, if your name gets checked when you pick up a ballot, your vote is counted.

garage mahal said...

But if he had read JSOnline, he would find that the crash was caused by an uptick in volume due to the start of the recall drive.

Actually the JSOnline blog entry is reporting only what the message on the alleged hacked and/or defaced website reads. The WISDEMS and United Wisconsin are saying it's was DDoS'ed. It should be fairly easy to prove I would think.

MadisonMan said...

Honestly, I think the recall will fall all by itself without any pushes from criminally-minded self-identified Conservatives.

My guess.....polls show Walker should win the recall. This is an effort for either a lawsuit to overturn the recall, or at least an effort to undermine the governor.

See rules for radicals.

And I should believe a story published by Mother Jones? Why?

Look up the names in the pictures on Facebook and tell me you believe these are real people?

"Howard Earl" search leads to the reference page.

How can I fight back against the recall legally? Is all I can do sit back and wait for them to get their 540,000 signatures? It is annoying that I, as part of the fiscally conservative side (more moderate socially), cannot do anything but wait while they show on the news these other groups giddily sign their petitions at 12:01 am. I don't agree with everything Walker has done, but I don't think he deserves a recall. And we the people don't deserve another round of $80 million dollars spent on this campaign - money along with the previous recall that could have been used to actually fill the budget gap...sigh... But, hey, it's not the recall petition signers money - entitlement works in many mysterious ways.
