Watching the election results.

Results reported here.

On the TV station we're watching, News 3, with 6% in, Prosser and Kloppenburg are tied at 50%.

UPDATE, 8:50: 51% Prosser, 49% Kloppenburg, with 9% reporting.

UPDATE, 8:55: According to the Milwaukee State Journal, with 11% reporting, it's 51% Prosser, 49% Kloppenburg.

UPDATE, 9:30: On TV, they seem to be pre-spinning a Kloppenburg loss, saying what an amazing thing it is that she has come close to beating an incumbent.

UPDATE, 9:36: 34% reporting, David Prosser 265,662 (50%), Joanne Kloppenburg 263,356 (50%).

UPDATE, 9:54: With 49% in, News 3 has Prosser at 51% and Kloppenburg at 49%.

UPDATE, 11:08: Paul Soglin has won the mayoral race. He's speaking now, looking extremely tired.

UPDATE, 11:14: Kloppenburg had gone up, but now they're back even at 50%.

UPDATE, 11:35: Concentrating on the AP numbers, looking at which counties still need to report, I'm irritated by the way Waukesha (strong for Prosser) and Dane (strong for Kloppenburg) seem to be holding out, like it's a game of chicken. Right now the candidates are 50-50%, with Prosser up 6,000+. It's been seesawing back and forth, with Kloppenburg up some of the time. To my eye, it looks as though there are more votes left to report in the places that are pro-Prosser, so I think in the end Prosser will squeak by.

UPDATE, 11:43: Dane (Madison's county) is nearly all in. I don't see how Kloppenburg can net more than about 3,000 with what's left of Dane. Waukesha is now shown as completely in, but the numbers didn't change, so I think something may have been misreported. I took the trouble to do a calculation and was going to predict that Prosser would net 40,000 more votes in Waukesha. What happened?

UPDATE, 11:55: There will be a recount, I assume. All those absentee ballots. The possibility of some fraud. It's nearly midnight here. Maybe we won't know the answer for days.

What is the margin of fraud in this case? Do you think that they'd actually contest this election if it was close -- OK, if I were in either camp I would, just because too much money has been thrown at it not to.

Milwaukee has discovered some more voter fraud with 10 more voter registration workers are being investigated by Wisconsin authorities. Fittingly, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel covered the story in its paper on August 29. Unfittingly, the Journal Sentinel forgot one, tiny aspect of the story... that the voter fraud was perpetrated by Democrats. In fact, one of the organizations, ACORN, is intimately linked with Barack Obama.

Milwaukee’s top election official said Thursday she plans to seek criminal investigations of 10 more voter registration workers, including two accused of offering gifts to sign up voters.
So, what we have here is an Old Media story about voter fraud where the salient fact that the fraud is being committed by Democrats and Democrat organizations is somehow absent from the story. What a surprise, eh?

Voter bribery, voter fraud, workers misrepresenting themselves with false driver's license numbers, fake Social Security numbers, there's lots of details in the story. Yet, the word Democrat never appears once in the story.

So, who was responsible for all this fraudulent registration?

All the workers were paid by two organizations running voter registration drives, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now and the Community Voters Project. Overall, 37 of the suspect workers were on the ACORN payroll, 11 were paid by the voters project and it’s not clear who employed the other one.
For those of you unaware, ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is a far left group that is intimately linked with Barack Obama since his early days in the corrupt Chicago, Daley Democrat political machine. ACORN has given Obama much financial support over the last two decades. ACORN is also big on furthering the unAmerican thuggery of unions all across the nation. And that means they are strictly a Democrat organization... not that the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wants anyone to know that.

So, what are the charges here?

Among the latest group, two ACORN workers are accused of offering pre-paid gasoline cards or restaurant gift cards to people in exchange for signing up to vote.
Edman said she wants Landgraf to look into whether the workers violated a state law that forbids offering cash or gifts to sway voters.
Eight voter project workers are suspected of making up information on voter applications, Edman said.
Among the workers previously referred to Landgraf, two are accused of submitting cards for dead voters.
Others appear to have submitted cards for people who said they never filled out an application or who were already registered, signed cards themselves, or falsified driver’s license numbers.
That's quite a laundry list. And, realize, this sort of Democrat fraud is happening all across the country in every major city. And it's all perpetrated by Democrats. Someone should pass this info on to the Journal Sentinel.

LaFollette has zero authority - everything is run by the local election officials, coordinated and (often) counted by count election officials. There are so many checks in place that it would be just about impossible to pull off any systematic fraud.

The previous reports of alleged fraud were almost entirely due to poor record keeping, people trying to vote in the wrong precinct, etc. Nothing like manufactured votes or plain old ballot stuffing. Just doesn't happen here.

KLDAVIS, it's not a good idea to extrapolate from precinct totals. Precincts can vary widely in size, so it's which precincts much more so than the total number of them.

KLDAVIS said...

N, with more than half of Milwaukee county's votes counted, Klopp only has 20k more votes than Prosser. There's also fewer than 100k more votes to report in Dane. Even if the rates in both stay the same, Klopp picks up +70k and what's left to count in Waukesha crushes that. Everyone can head to bed.

wv: bless. Indeed, bless the wise voters of the State of Wisconsin.

Prosser is now underperforming the primary by 2.3%. Projects to 52.9% of the vote.

Anyone know how conservative Fond Du Lac county is? Zero precincts reporting and it is a decent sized county...about 100K people I believe.

Chennaul said...

OK he wants to tranq dart me...

Now he's saying wait till 75% check.

Then wait till 80%...

Aaaaaaarrrrgh!

Prosser looks like a big bottom to me, not a top.

Maybe a bossy bottom though.

She's definitely held a hog, other than her own in her hand before.

Waukesha County votes conservative. Votes from there can bring it home for Prosser.

Hopefully the lesson of this election is that volatile, Rules of Radicals style, in your face electioneering is a two way street. Sure, the folks of Madison were pumped up, but the way they got there pumped up the rest of the state.

Had Kloppenburg condemned that ad with the molestation issue, I wonder what could have been. But so many people just don't think that kind of person would be a reliable judge. All those 'she's going to stop Walker' promises were not a good argument, even if they are all she had going for her.

I still don't know if Prosser will win, but I think the left in WI is ineffective.

Has the dead vote been counted yet?

Should be a big boost for Kloppenberg when that comes in.

D.D. Driver said...

Still only about 25% of Waukesha reporting versus 75% of Dane. Prosser is doing surprisingly well in Milwaukee. Waukesha will bring it home.

Living in a relatively liberal area of Wisconsin (moderate compared to Madison), I'm thrilled to see Prosser's got a chance.

Developing. Crush . On . Waukesha.

I don't think there are enough votes left in Dane County to overcome the uncounted votes in Waukesha County.

KLDAVIS said...

More of MKE just reported too, and Klopp's % actually is down to 56% in the urban liberal stronghold. Current vote totals extrapolate to a total net of 24k votes for Klopp in MKE county. That's got to be disappointing for the Dems.

Wow the ward results are coming fast and furious! Doesn't matter much to me if Kloppy wins as that only screws Wisconsin and not me.

I don't think there are enough votes left in Dane County to overcome the uncounted votes in Waukesha County.

You make the rookie mistake of assuming the number of votes in a democratic stronghold is bound by the number of registered voters.

Titus is great fun and beyond reproach in these parts.

Milwaukee may seem lefty politically but the folks are otherwise boring and conservative.

Fond du lac- what a great name!

Reminds me of the name [which I forget] of that French town where Reagan gave his famous D-day commemoration speech?
