"I wasn't sure what he was gonna do until he was under it. It couldn't have been for more than a minute."
Aftermath: "To be honest, it was completely stupid and reckless. God was definitely looking out for me and I've promised myself no more bullshit. I have an awesome life and a lot to live for and I have taken my life for granted. I'm not anymore."

Fake??
In most cases, a redneck's last words are, "Hey, y'all, watch this".
PS I was thrown for a moment by the mudflap girl story and the Christina Hendricks picture.
I agree that it looks fake, but Jalopnik's reputation is at stake!
Don't think it was fake --- followup article has his "penance."
Although the picture looked way too good ....
Like edutcher ...
guy was lucky he didn't get a Darwin award.
I have no idea what you are supposed to be kinking to here...
I mean LINKING. Linking to here...
I think it's cool and not really as dangerous as all the whining suggests. Just think for a moment how dangerous it still is just driving at 70 MPH in the next lane. Being under the truck is more dangerous, but only if someone does the wrong thing at the wrong time, which can happen just being next to that truck in that car. I wish I had the balls to try it, and especially get someone to record it. If it's not planned and just spontaneous, it's super cool.
"If it's not planned and just spontaneous, it's super cool."
You bet! And he he slips up or the truck driver changes speed or lanes and kills the guy, making the truck driver having to live with killing someone on the road, Hey! All part of the excitement! WHoohoo!
edutcher, I thought it was "Hey, hold my beer and watch this."
I'm a fan of Jalopnik and I don't think this fake at all. One of the dumbest things i've seen in my lifetime yes, but not fake. This idiot is one lucky SOB.
Might explain why I'm seeing more and more trailers with side skirts.
I wouldn't give one single fig for the driver of the car were he to end up dead doing a stunt like that. I'd feel bad about the trucker, but just in the usual way you feel bad about an unknown person who dies in a crash.
I would be really upset, though, if Mr. Stuntmeister ended up causing an accident that killed ME, however.
Roadways are not private property. Other people use them and depend on all drivers to be somewhere near rational while driving.
Ok, I know this isn't the important element of the story, but:
WTF is he doing calling his ride a "Pedobear Miata"? That's not ironic, that's just sick. I don't give a damn if it's a 4-Chan meme, it's still sick; would it be as funny if I called my car the "Pederast Grand Prix"? Because it's essentially saying the same thing.
"sirsnidely said...
I mean LINKING. Linking to here..."
Yeah, that threw me at first too. It's on the right side, you gotta scroll down to find it. Just look for pedobear miata among those titles.

Gah... I know the article had everything to do with stupid car stunts and zero to do with pedophilia, but I still hate that name. "Pedobear Miata". Stupid.
I have a miata for my track car, and I've often thought about doing that, but I'm not so stupid that I would.
I've done and seen some stupid things in cars before, but this takes the cake.
I think this is real and don't doubt the veracity of the article. I used to know people capable of this kind of stupidity (it comes with the territory when you are 20 years old). Now they are either dead, paralyzed, or meek as they come on account of a near-death experience or worse (marriage, divorce, etc).
Leads me to believe that becasue they stopped making muscle cars these modern kids go for the 'drifters' and other risky pursuits such as driving under semi's.
Give me my 13 second 1/4 mile street muscle car any day. Go fast, go straight.
Clark Griswold is not impressed.
