I wasn't going to watch the extravaganza, but it was impossible to avoid at 5:00 in the morning, Florida time . Glad I did, too - I was a big fan of Princess Diana, and it's great to see her boys come into their own. Royally.
Not to mention that the English sure know how to put on a wedding. It was an absolutely amazing event.
Glad I would have nothing to do with that one. My dad was a baker and I still remember when we had the order for a 6-tier wedding cake that had to be delivered to the top floor of the Memorial Hall building. My brother and I had to carry that cake up 3 flights of winding marble stairs and then to the back of the hall. There was no elevator. The cake weighed over 200 lb with all the cake and all the icing. This one being fruit cake would be even heavier and the icing they use is also heavier. And to have to put that all together and decorate it when it is going to be on international TV with literally billions of people watching it, you don't dare make a mistake. It is you reputation and future on the line there. They did a fabulous job on that one and I definitely salute them.
I wonder if they did the flowers alone and then placed them on the cake or if they created the flowers on site where they ended up. Just the planning for that one would be amazing. At least with fruit cake you can make a lot of it in advance. Whoever wheeled that into place had better have good reflexes and the floor had better be smooth. One jiggle too much and the icing would crack and it would be hard to patch it to look right.

Cake or death?
Would have been that much nicer if Kate had come out of it.
Wearing a couple of dabs of icing, of course.
I'd love to eat Kate. I mean cake!
It's fruitcake under the frosting.
If you want a better cake, then you have to go to France. Where the people aren't as nice.
At least the groom had a chocolate cookie cake.
They're a nice couple. Diana would have been proud.
... Rosebud.
