I think this is mostly marketing. This wasn't just some guy, but a former Google and MTV executive. I'll wager Yahoo! wanted him and the price was that they buy his company. One bit of evidence is that nobody actually says what Yahoo! paid, but they actually know the exact price.
The increase in wealth is the difference between what the app is worth to the seller and what it is worth to the buyer, added up over all sales; not the total sales price.
What? New wealth? Don't you people know whatever money these people have made they stole from the noble proletariat? Let's get right to work "spreading it around." For fairness.

I'm willing to bet we, as a society, will turn around one day and want all these "friends" and "likes" out of our lives.
This guy has good negotiating skills and Yahoo is crazy.

LOL
The only comment that fits is from Waiting For Godot:
Vladimir: This is becoming really insignificant.
Estragon: Not enough.
IntoNow lets people show each other what TV shows they're watching.
And I thought my life was dull.
Do people still watch television?
How do you assemble an audio database of all television shows in 12 weeks? I think Yahoo bought a lot of smoke and mirrors!
I'm going to sell Yahoo my social networking application called Shitter. Nobody gives a shit what you're watching, or thinking!!

Well, now that he's rich - raise his taxes!
Well according progressive economic theory that means
someone(s) LOST $30 million!
I demand a congressional investigation and new legislation to protect us from startup company buy out price gouging!
And also new regulation to protect us from the social network bubble
