Doesn't count because:
1. she only has good intentions
2. her cause is just and right, extreme measures are not just allowed, but required.

Or some such nonsense.

Geesh. That's how I reacted when someone called St. Charles a "suburb" of Chicago.

Odd to me that this was a short blurb in the Milwaukee JS...somebody threatens to kill multiple public officials and it gets a few paragraphs buried in the paper a month later?

Exactly, Irene. Everyone knows St. Charles is a suburb of Geneva.

Not only did she threaten lawmakers. The email account she set up was in the name of a girl she sent threatening text messages to in the fall. The union cops weren't able to contact the teacher back then.....nice police work.

Negatory, rubber duckie.

Unless she teaches in private school -- she has no teaching license in Wisconsin. And these things are so easy to verify, too.

A woman who I believe to be her mother does have a school psychologist license, though, which makes me sad: over her four-decade career she spent much of her time dealing with the emotionally and behaviorally disabled.

This woman is not charged with "allegedly making email threats."

She is charged with ACTUALLY making email threats.

She is alleged to have done so, but the charges accuse her of actually doing it.

And this is because Wisconsin police are corrupt and should have their pay and pensions reduced.

Wisconsin police are also going door-to-door to businesses and trying to extort business owners into putting up pro-union signs by telling them they'll "remember" if the business owner does not comply.

It's out-and-out extortion practiced by police and it's disgusting and immoral.

Nobody should want to live in Wisconsin.

The Racine Journal Times downplays this story on Page 9a admidst the larger story that "Anti-picketing e-mail leads to report", where the concern is that "Union Director received alleged threat that contained his address, names of family members."

The Racine Journal Times also hides the story of Sen. Wanggard calling for an investigation into the Union Grove business threats on the bottom of page 11a.

The local papers have become irrelevant. The Blogosphere is where it's at.

Condemnation of the actions first. No condemnation of "being charged" as it's just a precursor to guilty or not guilty. Certainly condemnation if found guilty, or if OJ-guilty, but gets off on a technicality or with a suspended sentence from a empathetic bench.

Be honest, though, MM. Were the situation reversed politically, you know the media vitriol would be a sluce of condemnation and calls, nay demands!, for conservative statements in kind.

"Who's house? OUR house!..." So she got a little carried away with the housecleaning efforts.

Who among us has never been drawn into violent intimidating criminal mob mentality - stirred up by teachers, parents, assemblymen, Democrats, lawyers, judges, unions, TAs - all with a little innocent everyday self-interest on the line - and sent things in emails that, the next morning, we regretted writing or maybe three weeks later when the Department of Justice knocked on our doors?

OF COURSE Ozanne was dragging his ffet on the case. Filing charges related to actual recent death threats against the lawmakers substantiates any claims that 24 hour notice of hearings was a Bad Idea. Which undermines his suit.

There is a pathology among the fringe left that requires serious intervention. The difference between them and the so-called 'tea partiers' is stark. Whereas the anarchist left defaults to violence the tea partiers default to the constitution.

The democratic party is stirring up the useful idiots, dolts and inhabitants of the far left while maintaining plausible deniability. Cannonfodder for the utopian dream easily sacrificed. A softer version of ME suicide bombers are these anarchists seeking attention and glory for the wrong reason.

So do Wisconsin emergency services personnel respond to fires or robberies if you don't have one of those posters advocating fisting in your window?

I have to think that despite all of the propaganda there has to be a silent majority who has had about enough of their kids being walked out on or intimidated into being props at political rallies. They have to be tired of being threatened and they have to be appalled that they have to worry about whether there is anyone left in their government that will enforce the law faithfully and fully without regard to your political views.

The only things unions are good at are intimidation and graft. I think we are seeing how much of the former they are willing to engage in to protect the latter. We are getting a case study in why public unions cannot be allowed to exist.

I had the same reaction: "charged" implies "allegedly". It reads like "allegedly" was added to subtly minimize the charges.

But to be fair to the Journal Sentinel, I think that reading is incorrect. This is a bit of awkward editing on the part of Professor Althouse. Here's the full statement:

A 26-year-old woman was charged Thursday with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts for allegedly making email threats against Wisconsin lawmakers during the height of the battle over Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill.

Breaking that down... She was charged with four counts. Why? For allegedly making threats.

I think the "allegedly" is justified here.

As in "It wasn't me, it was the fact chick that did it"--or "It wasn't me, it was the hottie that did it."

In any case one of them did the crime, and should have to do the time.

Thrown out of her parents' house, Squeaky Fromme was picked up by Charles Manson and moved in with him. Later she was affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood. Which of these were left-wing organizations?

Sara Jane Moore hung out with leftist organizations, only to become first an FBI informant and then an ATF informant. How likely are government informants to sincerely hold their professed beliefs?

Regardless of her employment status we certainly know what side she's on, so let's not pretend it's a puzzler. Now if law enforcement would track down the other people who were sliding threats under doors, etc. I think it'd be pretty clear that we have a pattern. Lots of professional students, union drones and unreconstructed SDS-types. Basically the Democrat base.

The Dude said...

Lincolntf - why would the police be interested in figuring out who made death threats? The police, the unions, democrats, the rabble, those making the threats - they are all on the same side, and it's not the side of the law.

(This is a pet peeve of mine - so ignore unless you have an interest in accurate journalism).

This is sloppy editing.

The woman is not charged with allegedly making threats. She is charged with ACTUALLY making threats. The police must, of course, prove those allegations but we can say that she's charged with making threats. We needn't say she "allegedly" made them.

We can write that the police allege she made threats and have charged her. We can even write that she allegedly made threats.

But we shouldn't write that the police charged her with "allegedly making threats." They didn't charge her with "allegedly making threats"; they charged her with ACTUALLY making threats.
