"JOURNOLIST: A Vast White-Wing Conspiracy?"

Instapundit links to I Own The World's collection of the names and faces of Journolist. Glenn stresses whiteness, but I Own says "IT LOOKS MORE LIKE THE UPPER WEST SIDE OF MANHATTAN" and the commenters eventually — scroll halfway down — pick up that cue.

Hey RLB,
You may not realize this but I honestly didn't realize you were serious with your story, as the idea that there was a serious Jewish cabal is obviously ludicrous. So I thought your entire story was to point out that silliness to Cedarford. As was my story. I never actually dated anyone who had a family in the illuminati but I know plenty of people who use the illuminati as another example of a cabal that rules the world. So I was continuing your absurd example (of the Jewish cabal not your wife dying) and including my own absurd example. So I meant it to be snarky, but the snark was meant for Cedarford.

Also, while I did recognize the snark, because your /snark off was at the very end of your post, I thought you meant that your whole post was therefore meant as snark.

I truly am sorry for you about your wfie, and would't knowingly make fun of you about it. Please accept my apologies for the inadvertant mistake on my part.

On Cedarford's behalf, I will say that he appears to be a genuine anti-Semite. Tidy looks like a liberal pretending to be an anti-semite. As such, the stereotype he presents says more about liberals than it does about conservatives......And that's my complaint about the journolist. Posit this: An exclusive country club where members of the WASP elite go to relax. There are a few Jews, maybe even a couple of black sportstars, but it's basically a place where the haute WASPs go to contemplate their virtues and bash the lesser breeds. Picture the conversation of such men at the nineteenth hole while discussing the pros and cons of Elena Kagan. The guess here is that the cons would be discussed with some relish, and her good qualities would pass unnnoticed. Here's my point: Does the conduct of these insular WASPs differ materially from that of the journolist members discussing Sarah Palin. I don't criticize the journolist members because they are Jewish. I criticize them because they are bigoted. A group that can find nothing to criticize about the Rev Wright and nothing to praise about Sarah Palin has a very distorted view of the world. This view can best be described as bigoted.....There is no grand plot here. These are not the Elders of Zion. Twits of Zion perhaps. They hung out in their comfort zone and congratulated each other on their ideals and enthusiasm for the cause. It doesn't seem to have occurred to any of that homogenous group that there are other ideals and other causes......There seems to be a great deal more diversity in the comment section here than on the journolist.

I just find it comical that folks like Cedarford, LoneWhacko, and HDH frequently speak to the thread as if they have a following and/or are taken seriously.

I mean, I know I'm probably not taken very seriously because I rarely take the time to offer it. I only come here to play with the trolls/shills/partisan hacks. And I not only do I think that's readily apparent, but I'm also very aware of it.

Sadly, those mentioned above suffer from a severe lack of that same self-awareness.

Wow. The anti-semitism is really flowing on this thread isn't it.

Trooper York takes the cake.

DTL,

It would be interesting to hear what you think is antisemitic about what Trooper York wrote. I gues you have to be a f*cked up lib to get what is antisemitic about that.

I just don't want to be around to participate in their discussion any more."

My antenna goes up anytime the term the "nazi" is tossed out there. Kinda like Spencer Ackerman suggesting tarring Fred Barnes, Karl Rove or any conservative as racist.

Bye Bye

downtownlad,
I skip most of what you write because, well, you're at least two standard deviations away from normal.

But to cover this thread and come up with Trooper as your example of antisemitism is a bullshit tactic I only expect from CNN or MSNBC.

So go to hell, please.

Just notice last on list is economist Peter Orzsag current Director of Office of Management and Budget under Obama.

He has resigned effective July 30.

Scott "And you didn't email him about it first? Jeez. Give the man the chance to post a mea culpa, like, "Update: I didn't at first see how anti-semitic the site was before I posted this, my apologies." Instead, you just sorta smacked him."

We speak to each other out in the open on blogs. We don't email behind the scenes to get it straight. We're tough, and we like debate. Unlike those Journolisters.

dtl, I think your accusation of antisemitism against another commenter really requires that you copy and paste the offending passage.

But you and I both know it's bullshit, and that it's a shitty thing for you to drop out there. I knew you were a douchebag, but until now I hadn't realized the level of your douchebaggery.

I suspect part of the irony is that the multi-culti idea that we should more strongly identify with race/gender/group (I even hear people saying 'I'm Irish American!). I've wondered why self-identifying Jews would even risk playing that game, given the historical record.

It's nice to see when there is actual anti-semitism, that the same people (mostly on the left) who desire such relativism to be the dominant ideas then quickly claim their moral victory, their ideas have already won the day.

I don't want such contradictions to be the highest ideas around. There lies real danger down that path.

At the very least, I fear, a more violent and unstable nationalism.

downtownlad; Wow. The anti-semitism is really flowing on this thread isn't it.

Oh look, the little anti-semite put down his sock puppets long enough to comment on them.

@William, you are perfectly correct. But I assert that there is a significant difference a bunch of WASPs gathering around the 19th hole and the members of Journolist. The latter group seeks to, and many of its members are in a position to, influence public opinion. The apocryphal country club WASPs of your story are not. Thus it seems to me that it is perfectly fair to examine the Journolist archives, to match the archives against the standards that the Journolist members hold conservatives to, and to hold them up to public disdain wherever they fall short.

I have always felt badly about the way so many people have treated downtownlad thought the years. With all of his protestations of ultra-sophistication and worldliness there is a persient undercurrent of a lack of social development and an inability to get along with people. Even people that are sympathic to him. I have always tried not to mock even his most outrageous statements because it would be like knocking the top off of an ice cream cone that a retarded kid was about to lick. It’s just not right.

As far my remarks go, I can understand why downtownlad would be upset. You see my point is that you cannot make a big thing about the so called “Jewish” people on this list because they are not really practicing Jews in any real sense of the word. I work and live with American Orthodox and Hasidim every day of the week. You should hear what they say about people like Ezra Klein. They are the people who proudly wear the yarmulke and tzitzis proudly and have no fear of being who they are. They scorn and despise the people on this list as hypocrites and phonies. Much the way out gay people scorn those that remain in the closet. They feel you should be proud of who you are. So I can understand how downtownlad would be solicitous of those who are in the closet about their religion based on his endlessly chronicled journey from being deep in the closet into becoming the proud out gay man that he is today. I can understand how what I said might resonate poorly with him.

As far as trolls are concerned, if you don’t react to their provocations, you have won.

So all the best downtownlad. I hope you are happy and healthy and enjoying your life away from the United States in your undisclosed location. Peace be with you.
