"The child is special now. This is NOT an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child!"

$300,000 to buy the young "Slumdog Millionaire" actress.

ADDED: "They tricked us into this fakery but we came out unscathed."

I remember in 1963, an office mate pacing back and forth in our bullpen office, muttering about his wife having found out she's pregnant.

``I read it costs $800,000 to raise an eighteen year old. For $800,000, you can buy one hell of a nice eighteen year old.''

That was a lot of money back then.

Talk about the law of unintended consequences. I'm sure - at least I hope - producers imagined the opportunity would be life changing in completely different ways for these kids.

Why are we so concerned what the world thinks of us again? Why is it important to have Tenth Century cultures love us?

Where is the world outrage?

The Oscar Child! A legacy is born. History is tin the making. Maybe she could run for president of India someday.

“Jessica never tries to be sexy. She just is sexy. If you put her in a T-shirt or you put her in a bustier, she’s sexy in both. She’s got double D’s. You can’t cover those suckers up.”

Here's a father who won't be getting a World's Greatest Dad! coffee mug this year.

That one worked for John Murtha. It’ll probably work for Rafiq Qureshi.

What do people think goes on in these squalid corners of the earth? This is not the fault of colonialism or "Western hegemony." This is part of a cruel, self-destructive culture.

So we believe News of the World, do we?

... I don't. I think this is made-up crap like their other made-up crap. I wish these tabloids ever gave a thought to the people they lie about.

Oh great. Now the poor child gets to stay in her slum with a dad who will probably just rent her out in the evenings.
