That's the name of this ad. And it's not like there's a guy named "Barns." (Certainly, not Fred Barnes.) It's, literally, barns. And they are here to tell you Obama won't take away your guns.

Obama will find it very difficult to outspend Bush.
Even with both houses, the money will not be there.
Obama will react to this by raising taxes, exacerbating the economic downturn.
The republican massage has allays been we are the alternative that works, because socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried.
Thats a fact, its not spin.
Barns for Obama is spin.
Defacing that picturesque old barn with the corporatesque Obama logo is a good metaphor for what Obama will do to America though.
Hopefully they can restore the barn after Obama - America, I'm not so sure...
Obama hard qualifies as a barn-burner.
I can't watch it because it will wake up my napping son.
Is it equating barn owners with gun owners?
Palladian said...
"Obama hard..."
That's it. If McCain has lost Paladian, he's lost middle America."
Some people seem very willing to suspend their disbelief.
Painting a barn doesn't change Bambi's intentions one whit.
But, hey, how emotionally satisfying: a guy paints his barn to say that Bambi won't take away your guns!
Time will tell, you bitter gun-clingers, whether you're right or not. How convenient it is that the capitalist sells the rope used to hang him, and the gun owner gives away his Second Amendment rights.
Hey! Where's "Airplane Hangers for McCain?" "Hunting Lodges for Palin"? C'mon, Reps, get on the ball!
Freeman, it's an ad assuring us that after we elect Obama, the world will be safe for all napping babies because he only disparages gun clingers when he's in San Francisco.
There are people in Seattle still driving cars with Kerry 04 stickers.
Heck, I still see the occasional Mondale stickers pasted on overpass supports. People will continue to try collectivism even though it's never been shown to work.
Meanwhile, from Ace (through Newsbusters): The National Anthem.
So because a guy has a barn, I'm supposed to think he knows about guns? I guess all us country folk over in flyover land are the same.
North of Sparta,

Wytheville,

It's mighty country there.
"A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one."
That's Obama's chance of winning rural Virginia.
Where's the Mail Pouch guy?
Obama means no more Fall color.
HARDLY, I meant.
Back in San Francisco...
"Have you seen the Obama ad with the barn?"
"Oh yes, very quaint, I thought."
"Yes, me too. So provincial, just charming really, what with the country people."
"So authentic."
"So interesting the sort of hobbies they have in these... these rural areas."
"Ah yes, firearms."
"You know I think it must be the loud noises and the potential to kill animals. Very primitive. Quite appealing to primal instinct I'd imagine."
"Oh yes, no doubt they make great sport of it."
"Indeed, indeed."
"Shall we off to the Bush effigy burning?"
"Yes, but we'll have to stop by the dry cleaners. I've got to pick up my BDSM wear before dinner."
"Oh, well of course."
The YouTube page says to go here, a link which includes the word "rural," for more information. At the top of that page, there is this quote:
"If you are willing to work for us, if you are willing to roll up your sleeves, if you are ready to lock arms and march ... talk to your freinds, talk to your neighbors, make a phone call, do some communtiy organizing ...Then I promise you we will win Virgnina, we will win this general election and you and I together will change the country and change the world."
Barack Obama, Fredericksburg, 2008
Lock arms and march? Why would they put this on that page? I don't know any "rural" people who would find that image appealing. Notice how such people, by definition, don't live around a bunch of other people. Suddenly someone thinks that no only do they want to take it to the city streets, but they want to lock arms with a bunch of protesting strangers? Don't think so.

This is Jim Webb.
Am I confused as to whom Jim Webb is?
This isn't some rural farmer speaking; not some random NRA member.
Isn't Jim Webb the guy who's body guard got in trouble for having an illegal gun with him at the Capitol building?
I don't know that I have anything in particular against the man. And he's certainly a gun rights proponent. Still... when he says that Obama won't take his guns away, he's almost Obamaesqe in his wording... Obama *won't* take the guns away from a whole lot of people, but it doesn't mean he won't try.
Oh, I don't suppose it would be on his agenda, but he's pretty clear that while Obama views gun ownership as an individual Right, it's not always clear that he understands what a *Right* actually is. After all, he says health care is a Right. And he's often said that cities and whoever else have the Right to limit that individual Right to own guns if they seem to think it's a good idea to do that.
Not that it's a compelling interest of government that can not be met in any other way but by limiting that individual Right, but if they *want* to impose gun control because they *think* it will help reduce crime (and I don't think that anyone asked to show that this is actually true, *can*, so...)they can do that.
Wow... that's a Right you can count on.
I have two words for everyone today:
Quail Eggs
They are now, how and wow. Do yourself a favor and run to your nearest exclusive, expensive grocer and get some quail eggs.
You will thank me for it.
Synova, maybe he's just hoping to change our rights.
On the local stations here the 'Bamaites have dug up some ex-pro-football player to start some "Gunowner and Hunters Association" to assure us that neither McCain nor Obama will be taking our guns away but vote for Obama because McCain is Bush.
Nice trick, that.
I think the fact that the average NRA member probably physically recoils from the mere mention of the name of Our Future Presidente For Life tells you that Obama had to get some astroturfer to start a club to reassure us.
NB, having a senator assure us that his gun is safe with Obama is about as reassuring as telling us that we'll have the same healthcare system as the senate. Really? The illegal alien guy who is doing my neighbors yard is gonna get the same care as Teddy Kennedy. Really?
Pfagh. The only thing I'm wondering is which guns to bury at the hunting camp so they don't get them all. ;-(

Wait, was that a black POW/MIA flag just barely visible under the American flag there near the end?
Wow. I'd have thought a Democrat would be ashamed to be reminded of that particular set of disasters.

Don't scare whitey, bro, don't lose the honky vote,
After the election time enough to slit his throat.
Cult.
of.
Personality.
And, remind me, how do those usually work out?
The funny thing is the farm is just (if not more) as lethal as guns in the eyes of Obama and his backers.
We will never see in our lifetimes the repackaging of discarded failure this successful.
No, Obama won't take away our right to keep and bear arms. But he didn't think the D.C ban went too far either.
And they are here to tell you Obama won't take away your guns.
Bull honk, Obama will make it difficult to use a gun by layering on regulations thus he can claim to support the 2nd Amendment while subverting it.
For example, Obama supports micro stamping ammunition which would lead to regulation that requires registered gun owners to surrender unmarked ammunition and to limit future purchases.
I'm sure those of you who do not own firearms and eschew ownership will be pleased and have little fear about government tracking of scofflaws. You may want to consider the govt. mandated OBD on your car.
OBD-III will take emissions monitoring to a new level as a garaged auto can be scanned and the OBD read. Which raises questions about suspicion less mass surveillance of private property and 4th Amendment issues.
The OBD-III could also be used to disable a moving car, throttle speed and track mileage.
If we passively allow the regulatory camel's nose under the 2nd Amendment tent is entree for government intrusion and surveillance on a massive scale.
Think it can't/won't happen? See the UK.
The Brit government began with gun prohibition and regulation.
The WSJ descrived it exactly that way Simon.
The video, which you can watch here, depicts people who appear to be in some sort of trance as they mouth along with Obama's various rhetorical flourishes from his speeches, then repeat the mantra "Yes, we can." The whole thing has the feel of a cult of personality.

So, we're about to see whether that old addage about it taking only one jackass (donkey?) to kick-down a barn is true?
I suppose it's actually a few hundred of them, if Biden and a majority of congress are included.
People who are not for Obama keep trying to talk about what happens after the election.
But, I don't think that matters.
Once Obama ascends we will all live as one.
I'm not much of a cook - so... ;)
Barack Obama isn't going to "take away" our right to keep and bear arms.
He's just going to appoint justices to the Supreme Court who will tell us that there never was such a right to begin.
Ergo, no one took it away. It was simply never there.
a longer lawyer joke with
•a barn and
•chicago
in the telling:
Three City Employees
A police chief, a fire chief, and a city attorney were traveling together by car to a municipal management conference in a distant city. Their car broke down in a rural area, and they were forced to seek shelter for the night at a nearby farmhouse. The farmer welcomed them in, but cautioned them that there were only two spare beds, and that one of them would have to sleep in the barn with the farm animals.
After a short conference, the police chief agreed to take the barn. Shortly after retiring, a knock was heard on the door of the farmhouse. The party inside answered to find the police chief standing there, complaining that he could not sleep. There were pigs in the barn, he said, and he was reminded of the days when everyone called him a pig. The fire chief then volunteered to exchange with the police chief. A short time later, another knock was heard at the door.
The fire chief complained that the cows in the barn reminded him of Mrs. O'Leary's cow that started the Chicago fire, and that every time he started to go to sleep, he started to have a fireman's worst nightmare, that of burning to death.
The city attorney, in desperation for sleep, then agreed to sleep in the barn. This seemed like a good idea until a few minutes later, when another knock was heard at the door. When the occupants answered the door, there stood the very indignant cows and pigs.

Bad as Obama is, McCain is no friend of the gun owners, my friends. That's why the NRA supported W. back in 2000 instead of McCain.

If you are a single issue voter, neither will satisfy. Unless you live in John Dingell's district, vote for Republicans for Congress.
From that site, former law student.
"Senator Barak Obama is arguably the most anti-gun major party presidential candidate in history. His running mate, Senator Joe Biden of Delaware, is no better."
Combined with their endorsement of Palin's views, M/P beats hell out of O/B.
Althouse -- two quick questions:
a) Do you believe the message in this ad?
b) Does this issue matter to you?
Barn is Icelandic for baby.
Perhaps some very interesting crowd surfing is in order.
Bike route barn not for Obama.
I wonder what George Wythe would think of Obama.
The contemporary G. Wythe (last name withheld) is an acquaintance and absolutely a BO voter.
So maybe the original would be happy, too.
Daryl above is absolutely correct.
Remember how the first George Bush was pushed out office for (the # 1 reason people listed at the time as being) raising taxes when he said he wouldn't?
Remember Bill Clinton running against George Bush and promising America that he wouldn't raise taxes? But then he did. And when it happened, Democrat women didn't get mad like they did at George Bush? Democrat women got wet instead?
Free cigarettes for Obama voting women. The Obamagasms have started.
The Ohio Bike Route lawn sign poll is at McCain 20, Obama 6.
At my local Obama-Biden Bunko Parlor this afternoon I saw a 60s era yellow VW Beetle with "Obama Bug" painted on the side and a picture of Obama and Biden where the O was. Since it wasn't funny, and I'm long past being sad, I just thought that it looked really stupid. For a small piece of that $150 million, they could have paid that dude to stay inside and flirt with all the ugly girls.
...they are here to tell you Obama won't take away your guns....
Just wondering how many bridges you've purchased in recent years.
Yep. And he's going to give tax cuts to 95% of Americans, you'll pay less than you did under Reagan, he's gonna roll back the Bush tax cuts, but you are supposed to believe that doesn't equal raising taxes.
When this all began - the first time I saw him when he spoke at the convention, he was good. You had the feeling he would go somewhere.
Biden said he was "clean." Which I took to mean "no baggage."
The more I learn, the worse it is. The Chicago machine, the cold calculating steps HE took in his rise to power, his associations with horribly bad people, the reflexive lies, the unveiled socialism... In the beginning I would have said he'd be ok.
No more.
I've been gun shopping lately and I haven't been the only one. Gun stores (and pawn shops) are doing brisk business because people think Obama is going to win. And mention it in most gun stores as well.
Funny though how guns never came up in any of the debates, despite it being a very big issue for some.
Simon, in the previous barns for Obama thread, the last of your three links in your comment about personality cults, the one pointing to Mao Zedong, or Mao Tse Dung, as I prefer, compelled me to animate Mao and his restless mole.
Afraid I got a little carried away. Was having too much fun. File became quite large so I made it background to a table containing transparency file of some 200 frames of a small thing moving around, to make it manageable. This could have been simple.
It's all your fault. See what happens when you put links with your comments?
Wow, rhhardin, Ohio sure looks lurvely. Great slide show!
BHO is targeting a lot more than just barns. In fact, he's specifically targeting kids under 12 years old. Little glassy-eyed agents of "change".

"In her senior thesis at Princeton , Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on 'crime and hatred'. Moreover, she stated that whites in America were 'ineradicably racist'. The 1985 thesis, titled 'Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community' was written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.
Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to 'Whites at Princeton , it often seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first...' However, it was reported by a fellow black classmate, 'If those 'Whites at Princeton ' really saw Michelle as one who always would 'be Black first,' it seems that she gave them that impression'.
Most alarming is Michele Obama's use of the terms 'separationist' and 'integrationist' when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a 'separationist' view of race. 'By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.'
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to
her 'further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure
that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full
participant.' Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.
Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but she elevates black over white in her world.
Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:
'There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black
community first and foremost.'
What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she's first lady that will elevate black over white in America ? "
The following statements are lies, which is remarkable, because Michelle's thesis has been available since February, when it was discussed on this very blog:
"In her senior thesis at Princeton , Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on 'crime and hatred'. Moreover, she stated that whites in America were 'ineradicably racist'.
Obama's thesis is linked in three parts from this article; it's not searchable and I'm really not sufficiently caffeinated to read the whole thing. Perhaps someone not in the tank for Obama could verify FLS' take?
More and more, every day, I am thankful that Obama is fixated on urban blacks and bettering their lot at the expense of the rest of the United States, because I live in a rural area that will be the last place that the messiah will be targeting for "community redevelopment".
My best hope is that he is long gone before his disciples remember that we exist and that the coming depression and economic woes won't hit us bitter gun and religion clinging hicks as hard as it will hit the very people that Obama wants to shower freebie gifts upon.
Ohio sure looks lurvely. Great slide show!
It's a tough daily commute, but somebody has to do it.
Put me down as a Barns not for Obama.
Is it just me, or is that barn a spitting image of the seting from George Orwell's Animal Farm?
They'll be upset when their guns are taken out of the barns by the Ivy-League illuminati politicians. I'd like to see that video.
