Finding something looked for.
I'd wanted for a long time to find this picture, which I knew was somewhere in amongst the thousands I've uploaded into Flickr. If I'd been meticulous about tagging photos, I might have found it, but I just ran across it when I was going back into the blog archives to find those quotes about solitude.
I'm posting this picture again to celebrate finding it and to think about why this was a picture that always stuck in my mind. I don't take many pictures where I get close to strangers, because I feel that it's an intrusion, but in this case, I thought the woman was so interesting-looking that I made the effort to ask for permission.

Stop invading Sarah Palin's privacy.
Having just come from the allergist's office, I now feel the urge to give that woman a shot.
It's a back of the arm thing.
You wouldn't understand.
Davy Crockett's wife.
"Davy Crockett's wife."
LOL.
Since you have chosen to elect a man with a timber toe to succeed me, you may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.
--Crockett.
Davy Crockett's wife
Took me a while but now I get it...
Ha, ha
Oh, the picture was looked for and found. At first I thought you were looking for a twisty blue pyramid.
I don't get it. What's so interesting about her?
Chip, there were 2 meanings.
And the curly pyramid is important. It means something.
Hahaha, Miss Wasilla, 1958.
You really should be meticulously tagging your Flickr photos!!
I rather like her handbag.
But then, I would, Queen O' The Handbags that I am.
Davy Crockett's wife.
The late Mrs. Estes Kefauver?
Sarah Palin joins the FLDS.
the FLDS
OMG.
I'm not against people doing their own thing, but this makes me think of Laura Ingall's teacher, Miss Beadle.
Lower State, north side of street, about a block east of Lake St.
Close? (just testing some old memory cells)
Completely OT, but I was blow away last night by Cat Power at the San Diego Street Scene. Chan Marshall and her band played an incredible 1 hr set.
See them live if possible! Buy their latest "Jukebox" release.

Miss Beadle always smelled of lemon verbena.
Do you know where that picture of those two young adult boys is? You were having some sort of seminar luncheon or something....
(Do you go to luncheons? )
They were pictures shot across the restaurant table, and the two guys looked like twins....they were ties....looked like young professional law students ....
Where is that picture ???
The problem with this picture is that Davey Crockett’s wife is staring in a boutique window at clothing that would not fit her. She is depressed and upset because she wants some fashion forward clothing to will help look like something other than an nineteenth century adventurers wife.
Luckily she can now shop online
at leeleesvalise.com to find fashion forward designs that will make her hip and groovy.

OMG! Woman crush.

Ann, I'm fairly sure I know who Maxine is now.

The lady and the twisty pyramid have that similar blue slouchiness.

Sarah Silverman on the Prairie
Proto-Palinity?
neat photo-
you're supposed to ask permission to take a photo?-
Sarah Silverman on the Prairie
Stop. I may swoon.
Leave Sarahcuda alone!!!
You are so lucky to be living in Madison, it broke my heart to leave that place. If there is a microcosm of Middle-America, Madison, Wisconsin, is it. Many thanks for all the photos.
Oh, and please tell me that your LOL on the "Davy Crockett's wife" comment was sarcastic, or I'm done giving you the benefit of the doubt.
Because that's the worst kind of snarky, elitist comment I can think of.

Really, because I haven't heard Ann be elitist or snarky about Palin -- the exact opposite of a lot of supposedly Liberal people in America.
Ann is a Boomer. One of the most famous television shows when she was a kid was the Davy Crockett show with Fess Parker.
I am not anywhere close to her age, nor do I know a lot about American television, which is then striking because if I got why she obviously got the giggles when Rh said that -- then others should at least have too.
bleu meanie: "You are so lucky to be living in Madison, it broke my heart to leave that place. If there is a microcosm of Middle-America, Madison, Wisconsin, is it. Many thanks for all the photos. Madison is a microcosm of Middle-America? Please tell me you're kidding. That's deranged! And if you haven't clicked on Bearbee's "now I get it," I think you need to.
She is depressed and upset...
But she has a fantastic head of hair if she only knew how to handle it.
Well, maybe things have changed a lot, but it was a microcosm of Middle-America when I lived there; Tommy Thompson was governor and Paul Soglin was the mayor..and I'm thinking about the ordinary people who lived and worked there, not just the people who shout the loudest.
And yes I'm old enough to get the Davy Crockett reference. It's just...like inviting someone to a party because you find her “interesting-looking” and then encouraging your friends when they make fun of her appearance.
Or like throwing chump-change to your teaching assistants at the Christmas party and wondering if their dignity was offended because they used to be rich.
