Commenter of the day? The nominees are: Meade and Chip Ahoy.

1. Meade: After Sheepman complained that the Dylanesque song about Obama "goes on for a few verses too many," Meade said:
Dude, if you think that one goes on for a few verses too many, wait until you hear Sad-Eyed Law Professor of the Eastern Ridges and Lowlands...

With your Alito mouth and your New York times,
And your eyes on breasts and your prayers for mimes,
And your tulip shots, and your vortex crimes,
Oh, who among them do they think could bear your vow of cruel neutrality?
2. Chip Ahoy. On that post with the dogs in the baby stroller, Chip Ahoy wrote, "Althouse, hope you don't mind, I fixed the mannequin in your photostream."

ditto Ruth Anne

"Commenter of the day" (gēk) Slang.
n.
1. Any person widely regarded as having way too much broadband, time on his hands, and/or not nearly enough sense of discretion.
2. Someone who might benefit by having a weatherman to inform him of exactly just which way he is throwing caution to the blowing wind.

(Still, Althouse, come on - who among us do you think can resist you?)

BOTH MUST WIN!!!

Boys, boys and Ruth Anne. Let's play nice. There's room for everyone here in Deadwood.

Nice photo Chip. I think you have been hanging out with RH a little too much if you know what I mean.

Neither shall succeed, both shall fail for they are not worthy, so say I and that's that! Besides, Ms Althouse is giving in to her baser instincts, selecting those she feels flatter her best. How droll and beneath her.

O well, as long as her photo doesn't turn back to green.

Ps: Enjoyed the photoshop effort!

Wow, OldGrouchyBitterClingerGuy, what the hell is that thing?!! Some kind of mushroom cloud brain with Uncle Sam and Islam both going up in pink smoke? Is it possible that retirement has not been kind to you up there in the land of 10,000 lakes where the dogwoods won't even break bud for at least another month?

ps: If you're a UnabomberWannabeeOldGrouch, whatever you do, just please don't fling me into that briar patch.

To paraphrase one of my favorite lines from "Lawrence ..." Meade, you are not perfect, eh!

Please be more introspective and look closely. That symbol you decry represents USA - Turkish friendship in so far as it pertains to providing the Turks with the Infamous Honest John Rocket, which had multiple choices of warhead, some of which were most deadly, and training the Turks in the use thereof. Now this was all back in the dark ages of the Early Cold War, back when men were men and you're a brief thought perhaps. I found out about what was called a "pocket patch" way back then in those mystical days of Yore but never saw that Mushroom until 3-years ago, when a co-worker, a fellow grunt from those long ago joyful days, mentioned that it had been issued and then withdrawn, Top Secret you know, before we, the stars of the show and knowledge purveyors, arrived on station. Of course, that TS nature of the beast was somewhat mollified by front page articles and pictures about a wonderful new weapon in the Turkish Arsenal! Life is strange and then what, eh?

So, yes, whilst thou shall be not tossed onto the Olde Briar Patch, thou hath been chastised, mildly. Go forth and sin no more than truly necessary, given your dismal circumstances. Remember, "Bitter is as Bitter does" and you have been graced with Madame Althouse's blessings.

Ps: It's still the snow season up here. Where's AlGore's Global Warming when it truly needed?

Pss: Please excuse my slow response in providing my gentle rejoinder to your questions, for age has it infirmities!

Infamous Honest John Rocket

The Braves closer who disliked public transport?

I say that in all seriousness.

Ruth Anne Adams, I say this in all seriousness too -- you are still my heroine. Ex-vet, lawyer, loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, and child. Wow.

It's a pleasure to be back on Althouse, and because there are SO MANY people of your calibre here.

Cheers,
Victoria

D.H. Lawrence? Interesting, OldGrouchy. Thanks for the insight.
Imperfect I am indeed. Nailed me dead to rights - a much-too-grouchy-for-my-age prickly also-ran commenter for a day come lately. But hey, he who globally warms last warms best, eh?

Trixie-the-whore?
I've got to finally break down and get a TV!

After being Claude Rains in Casablanca, I would want to be Swearengin in Deadwood; Mouth like a Paris Island DI, Mind like King Lear!

Ruth Anne and Vicki-Tiki-Tavi are in the Althouse Commenter Hall of Fame, unlike an unloved prole like myself!

Try T. E. Lawrence instead. Let's leave D. H. Lawrence for Ms Althouse's more interesing posts, eh?

Bissage said...

Ron is one of my all-time favorite commenters.

Straight up.

"Let's leave D. H. Lawrence..."

Ah yes...The Lady Professor and the Grouchy Old Gardener, eh? Screenplay by Trooper York, of course. Stills by Double Chocolate Chip Ahoy. Malaprops by Ruth Anne, archivist extraordinaire. Victoria will write the cheerful pee-in-your-knickers humourous rave reviews.

We'll have to do a star search for the Gardener role. She's much too young and pretty for you and I'm far too busy writing my, ahem, poetry. I've got it! I nominate Bissage and Ron!! Let them, you know, duke it out, eh? Besides, the one who loses can still do the soundtrack.

Trooper York said...

Well Ruth Anne, I have always thought of you as the Mayor of Althouse. Don't be so gendercentric.

Ron said...

If the blogger be da Queen, Ruth Anne is the blogger-in-waiting!

Meade, I'll just lay down the tracks, man, I've got a ton of tuneage!

Let's do a mashup of one of Ann's videos (or Bloggingheads!) with "Surfin' Bird!"

PAPAPAPAPAPAPAPOOMAMOAMOOW!

Well Ruth Anne you are very concerned with decorum and the niceties of the discourse. But I will of course defer to your choice as long as we can designate Cyrus as Francis Wolcott and Mort as the N-general. Of course that is just on “general” principals cause we want to do non discriminatory casting so to speak.

Me nine!!

(If you've ever read Ron's cinema commentary, you stand there in awe of his canon of knowledge, and more than that, his ability to syncretise it)

Ron, you rock bro!

Cheers,
Victoria

If Althouse is our Joan Blondell(...or maybe Harlow?...), you are our Ava Gardner, sweet, sweet Sundries!

You make me blush, ya big lug!
