So Teddy Kennedy came right out and called the Clintons liars.

"With Barack Obama, we will turn the page on the old politics of misrepresentation and distortion."

That's my interpretation.

Finally! Someone finally stood up and called the Clintons what they really are. Will there now be a bandwagon of elected Dems and others high up in the party calling them liars too?

I guess the mystique and the spell are broken.

Little slow on the uptake there, Teddy, (like a decade too slow), but better late than never, I guess.

The Clintons remain the only true trailer park trash in this primary--except you have to drag a six figure campaign contribution through the park.

It's all well and good to lie through your teeth and distort facts as long as the targets are Republicans. You know.... those of us on the side of the great right wing conspiracy who are deserving of such treatment.

Amazing how the indignation rises when the tactics are turned on "you" and your own party. Ted Kennedy is "shocked ...shocked" at the Clinton tactics.

I am experiencing Schadenfreude delux. lol lol lol

Karl Rove always thought so. In South Carolina in 2000, Rove's operation spread these stories about McCain: McCain was a stoolie for his captors in the Hanoi Hilton (this from a lunatic self-promoting Vietnam "veteran"); McCain fathered a black daughter out of wedlock (a despicable reference to McCain's adopted Bangladeshi daughter); Cindy McCain's drug "abuse"; and even McCain's "homosexuality."

FLS: I dont think anyone was defending Rove--we were actually talking about the Clintons--Are you suggesting the Clintons are copying Rove? or perhaps that Rove copied the Clintons.

Your interpretation sucks, or at least relies on a very broad definition of "came right out and called the Clintons liars."

He only "came right out" and did it to the extent everyone else who's referred to "misrepresentation" and "distortion" by the Clintons has, which is a lot of people.

There's really no good substitute for the L word.

FLS: I was referring to Ted Kennedy's remarks directed at the Clintons and the subject of this particular section of this blog. Do try to stay on topic and focus.

Kennedy and other Dems and the media(at least that I recall) never reproached the Clintons when their shit cannon was aimed at Republicans. Oh...wait... the shit cannon "was" the media. Seems like the Clintons are getting a little blowback from that area lately.

LOL LOL

This is new territory for the Clintons. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

DBQ: At least since the Nixon "dirty tricks" era, when it comes to campaign lies and distortions, Democrats cannot hold a candle to the Republicans. Hip-deep in muck, you're saying, "Look at the smudge on her face!"

I'm wondering if Obama really believes that Ted's grand public pronouncement of support is a good thing for him.

Jeeze, Former Law Student.....try to focus!!! We are discussing Ted Kennedy's sudden discovery that the Clintons (gasp) lie and distort. Instead of concentrating on the topic at hand, you obfuscate by throwing up points not relevant to the discussion. Any moment now I expect you to break out into a "Bush Lied People Died" doo dah doo dah chant.

No wonder you are a "former" law student. I hope you aren't an acutal lawyer since you can't seem to follow the thread of an argument or logically discuss the topic.

This is the second post, in a row, that you've began with the word 'So'.

dbq: I refer you to Matthew 7:5

Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own (party's)eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's (party's) eye.

FLS: Me thinks you would have done well to have read Matthew 7:5 yourself before your 11:05 post.

Bill Clinton just replied to Teddy on CNN. He said he was "all wet."

walter neff said...

Bill said that wasn't a problem for Hillary. She never gets wet.

walter neff said...

Of course that might be a problem for Bill.

That passage cautions against criticizing minor failings in others while ignoring your own major failings. That makes it a pretty silly choice for quotation, since Kennedy and Clinton are much less honest than DBQ and no more honest than Karl Rove.

Anyway, the real point here is that it is funny to hear Ted Kennedy suddenly acted shocked, SHOCKED to discover that Bill Clinton is dishonest and smears his political enemies. That's like being shocked that the sky is blue.

Boy, that brought back ancient memories of a schoolyard chum named Mikey Costopoulos.

We were best friends but we had a falling out after I borrowed his trousers to play sandlot baseball.

I slid into home and won the big game.

But was he happy for me?

No, he was not.

Instead, he was furious and he yelled at me, "Euripides pants, Eumenides pants!!!!!!"

* rimshot *

Teddy Kennedy knows misrepresentation and distortion when he sees it. Remember July, 1969?
