Yesterday, I started to show you things from that old box of dollish things I dragged out of the cabinet. I can't quite identify this little doll from the 60s. We're in the Barbie era, but who is this? She's much smaller than a Barbie, about 6" tall. I used a scanner to take the photo, and though it's only by chance, the eerie look seems apt to me.

It's not Skipper, Barbie's little sister, is it? In a later incarnation, she had short hair, but she was a brunette and may have had long hair at one point. That's my best guess. I'm sure there are fantastic Barbie sites out there, I'm just don't have time to look for them now.
Oooo. Doll-scanning. A new art form discovered on Althouse? Eerie doesn't begin to describe it.
Joan: It's not Skipper. The doll is not on the same scale as Barbie... and not made of the same material. And not articulated. This is a one-piece rubbery thing.
Twilight Zone Gidget?
gj: My name there is Alizaria. I've almost never posted though.
It may be a Dawn Doll.

Geez-beat by two minutes....
Aaaaaargh!
Hey, you're right. This is a Dawn Doll! It can't have been my doll then (because it's from the early 70s). I'm sure it must have belonged to my niece and gotten mixed in with my own dolls.
It's based on the song "Wear Your Love Like Heaven," which was playing once when I had to think of a nickname. Donovan sings "alizarian crimson" (not "alizarin crimson") and it just jumped out at me how to turn that into a woman's name.
Speaking of posting on Metafilter, do you participate in the comment sections on other blogs?
Joseph: Occasionally, but never anonymously or pseudonymously. I wish I hadn't adopted a pseudonym at Metafilter, but I signed up long ago and you aren't allowed to change your name there. I normally only comment on my friends blogs, but sometimes I drop a comment at a blog post that is talking about me (in a situation where I don't want to do a post here, such as where it's an attack that doesn't deserve more attention).
That's definitely a Dawn doll. I had a few Dawn dolls as a girl and one had a dress like that.
