My idea for becoming a Category of One (to get and keep a 5.00 star Uber driver rating) is to install a gizmo, facing the back seats, that tips $1.00 when the rider pushes a button, as a thank you for riding with me.
Firefox survives due to money from Google, who pays them to make Google the default search engine. It isn't like they are special, might as well use Chrome. Firefox used to be the norm on Linux, they threw that away.
I gave up on Firefox a couple of years ago because I kept having technical issues. Its maintenance is haphazard, evidently done by some loose configuration of mainly volunteers. I had similar problems with Mozilla's email client, Thunderbird, and gave up on that as well.
I tried Brave, but as far as I can tell it doesn't have vertical tabs, which are essential for me, so I'm stuck with Chrome.
I do miss that old internet. I used to watch a lot of young YouTubers make creative content that seemed like pure fun. It seemed like they were having a ball just putting themselves and their friends online. Now the financial motive is glaring in everything. Every title is hyperbole if not complete bullshit. It changed from a playground into a cubicle-filled office building.
Last year I read Enshittafication which describes the degradation of the internet. I liked the book and the premise rings true, but the author complained mainly about how everything on the internet was better when it was free and delved into his love of communism. The internet has gotten worse and shows no signs of improving. I keep trying to do a digital detox but the addiction runs strong.

Glad their making a few bucks, and that they're still around.
"Why are things that are technically better, not always the things that win"
YouTube : Different is better than better.
(I like how she makes "better" sound like "butter")

They went woke, I left in 2014.
When they fired their founder for a vote he made, I found another option. I use Brave almost exclusively.
The chad Brave user mogs Firefox virgins.

Those eyes!

I was Firefox for years, and switched when an update prevented me from deleting my comments from Althouse.
Brave browser here too. Works great.

Some of my favorites back around 2006 were "Brookers", on YouTube, and "Ask a Ninja".
I, too, switched to Brave because of how Firefox treated Brendan Eich. Bonus: Breave is a great browser to use.

Internet is best thing and worse thing to happen in last 100 years. Quick to find information and entertain, or scam people or organize a riot.
@james, Brave has vertical tabs.
Thanks, CR, I couldn't find them when I tried it out, but I'll look again.
