Lucky for us, there's Anthropogenic Global Warming

'...It was the beginning of a new glacial period, more conversationally known as the next ice age—but by the 1960s, summer temperatures were already so high that the ice sheet started to shrink. In other words, global warming ended a period of glaciation that had already begun....'

'..."It was just getting started, everything was normal, the next glaciation was about to happen—and yet it stopped," says Nicolรกs Young, a geochemist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, part of the Columbia Climate School. "It's a very powerful example of how we have jolted the system."...'

'...Scientists can't say when the next glaciation might occur in a world with elevated greenhouse gas concentrations. But if continental ice sheets eventually begin growing again, they may have to do so without the last surviving remnant of the Laurentide.

(Just ask Al Gore)

Yes, kids. We would have been able to make ๐™–๐™˜๐™˜๐™ช๐™ง๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š predictions, if we just didn't have that pesky global warming...

If I had a story my tragic heroine would have a resemblance to June Lockhart and have a tattooed daughter who’s antics prevent her from being on time to her job at the CIA causing her to be one step behind the terrorists.

Yes Narr, also thanks. Planing on watching Barcelona. One of my favorites is in it: Scarlett Johansson. Would it be wrong to light a fire in the fireplace?

Saw the Joffrey ballet last night with friends. Amazing choreography, more than 40 dancers on stage, all moving in perfect sync to live music. What an achievement, technically complex and very difficult to both direct and dance. Great show.

Driving around town today, went past two polling places. Full parking lots, not quite to capacity. But busy.

Don't forget to vote folks.

So- still think early voting is a good idea? How do you determine of your ballot was one of those destroyed? Does everyone who CLAIMS to have dropped a ballot in the box get to do it again?

Election day- one day, with absentee for military and narrowly defined valid reasons. It's secure, and worked for over 100 years. Heck, didn't have absentee voting in 1864- the Feds sent troops home to vote, and counted on them to return to their units.

Don't care what sharia law has to say about most anything, TBH. Islam is making inroads everywhere in America, including Texas.

In my view, it is wrong to treat it simply as a religion, until it begins to conform to our definitions as one. And any organization masquerading as a religion to pursue a stated program of social change should be stripped of its 501(c)(3) status and not get it back.

In British Columbia the local elections are concluded with the Conservatives getting a victory for the first time in years- imagine Washington state or Oregon electing a Republican for context.

A welcome relief maybe we get a break from years of crazy.

Also go Brewers!

Dave Begley said...

Small Beer thoughts.

1. Mom took a three-year-old Bud to watch the minor league Brewers. That’s why Milwaukee has the MLB Brewers today. A woman instilled the love of baseball in her son.

2. Bud tried to buy the White Sox to move them, but MLB wouldn’t allow it.

3. The Brewers used the “Moneyball” technique of fouling off pitches to drive up pitch count and run off the Rays’ stud starter.

4. Guy hits four home runs all year but homered last night. He really swung from his heels.

5. The owner of the Brewers graduated from Columbia Law the same year I graduated from Creighton Law. I should have gone to Columbia!

My preference would be to get rid of the charitable deduction period. So much abuse.

You have to understand why it is there in the first place.

The founders did not want the government taxing the church.

The problem is that this works for Christians. Secularists and other religions do not have an objective moral framework so they will abuse the system by their nature. It works with Christians because bad actors are shamed.

What we really need to do is become a Christian Nation again. We will not have a free high trust society otherwise.

They have real polls. They know how close they are to another revolution.

The riots are to keep people in line not to destroy the place.

People think mass deportations are the extreme measure.

Mass deportations are not the extreme measure. I am curious if Chatham house/WEF want the extreme measures taken and are actually pushing for that.

And I wonder if the rulers of the ME would actually object to the extreme measures. My intuition is no.

I've been reading that on the Alaska ballot, the "real Daniel S. Sullivan" is labeled both as Republican and Incumbent. Is this untrue? If it IS true, where's the basis for saying the other Dan Sullivan is actually a threat? Or that the other Dan Sullivan's performance will form the basis of a lawsuit if the real Daniel S. Sullivan loses to Peltola? It seems to me that if indeed the ballot is labeled that explicitly, then voters shouldn't be particularly confused. What am I missing?

If 1% of the voters make a mistake in a close race it makes a difference. If .5% of the voters make a mistake it could make a difference.
