Also, the "fly fishing" is as staged as Schumer putting cheese on a completely raw hamburger. Both Tapper and Newsom are wearing slacks, not waders; they are standing square in the middle of a river and "casting" directly in front of them; Tapper is basically just whipping the rod back and forth, while Newsom futzes with his fly (assuming they allowed him to have a fly with an actual hook on it, someone might get snagged) the whole time; neither has any spare flies, leader material, nets should they actually catch a fish, etc.; I am not even sure if it is a river or a pond (although it is probably not an LA reservoir, as it actually does have water in it). As fake as fake can be, which is par for the course(D).
Wife and I watched Emily in Paris for 3 plus seasons. Then we both looked at each other and said this sucks.

Newsom talks about mutually assured destruction as if it would be him, Kamala, and the Republican candidate competing for the presidency. He does realize he and Harris would be running against each other in the primaries, right? Or maybe he's forgotten since it's been so long since the Democrats have held a serious primary and not a "we've cleared everyone out of the way so the chosen one can run" primary.

Vance reminded me of Peyton Manning talking about his favorite show "Emily in Paris" on SNL. It wasn't too convincing, and in a different way, neither was JD.
You know, if they would just say flat-out that they don't know how to do something (like fly fish or grill a burger) but are having a great time learning from this guide or grill master here, they would actually have a winning PR formula. But they can't seem to do that.

Well that's a good way to ruin two pairs of dress slacks and a couple of pairs of bespoke wing tips. Newsom can't "load" that fly line, just like Tampon Tim couldn't load his long time personal shotgun. Tapper's casting stroke looks a little better--like maybe he had received 10 minutes instruction from a guide---after only 5 more hours of practice Tapper might be able to land a dry fly on the surface of the water.
