Somewhat paradoxically, it's only in a game with a lopsided score that you would see PCA (Pete Crow-Armstrong) try an umpire in this fashion. He couldn't afford to be ejected in a close game.
The umpire did well with his reaction and quickly turning his back to take a few steps back.
Meanwhile, the Astros started the playoffs with the bullpen, yet had a closer game with the White Sox.
BTW, if you haven’t seen it, grab a box of tissues and watch Verlander leaving the mound for the last time.

PCA is the worst. Apparently he is the MVP. His stats are great. But, every time I have watched him (i.e., against the Brewers) he looks very average to below average.
Hey for Padres fans (and I've been one for almost 70 years, starting when they were still in the Pacific Coast league) last night was bleeping great. I've also watched Cubs - Padres games where the Cubbies put a real lick on the Padres. It's baseball. When your pitcher gives up two home runs in the bottom of the first inning that's a sort of signal that the night is going to be long for your team. .

Hitting a baseball is the most difficult thing in sports, to the point of months long slumps where the player really looks terrible. However they always get back to what the back of their baseball card says after the 162 game season. And, looking at the replay, he did went. The key for the umpire is if they can see any of the top of the bat.
