History shows police body cameras absolve the police much more commonly than the perpetrators. Since the left supports violent perpetrators, body cameras are just a talking point, not a priority.

I can't believe I agree with the obese whatever that is, but body cameras are non negotiable. They produce exonerating proof 99.9% of the time, but it won't matter a bit to any of them.
If you pull a knife on a cop who is arresting you, and then stab the cop and then get shot, and the police officer has a body camera, you will still be dead and the cop will still have acted correctly under the circumstances.
None of those fools seems to appreciate the principle that when a police officer tells you that you are under arrest, you are under arrest. Resisting arrest is a crime, even if the cop is wrong. Resorting to force to resist arrest, especially wielding a deadly weapon, means you get shot.
If we did not have this rule, we would have absolute chaos. Why would anyone want to be a cop, and why would any criminal not simply flee any attempt at arrest?

A big backfire resulting from the 2020 Floyd/BLM riots was the demand by the rioters and their supporters that police start wearing body cameras. They insisted that this would allow recording of the police brutality they alleged was rampant throughout the country.
In the years since, the use of body cameras has done the exact opposite… it has shown the lawlessness and idiocy of miscreants and, usually, the patience shown by police in their interactions with the criminal element.

Countless YouTube videos showing drivers pulled over for minor infractions who talk, shout and misbehave their way to misdemeanors or felonies. It’s as if the morons can’t help themselves.

Here at Althouse we have leftists swearing up and down that Ruiz was murdered in cold blood execution style and that the other cops were horrified... despite all the evidence. Leftists refuse to believe anything that does not conform with their cult orders.
Soglin was also mayor for most of the 70s. Good times.
None of those reasons make any sense. Cops should absolutely have body cams, and they should be on during any official interaction with a citizen. For the protection of both parties.
I was working the march last night that ended at an event venue where the mayor supposedly was. Iirc, the woman pictured single handedly paused the match at that venue. There was a very odd 10 minutes where a power struggle transpired between the trad megaphone enabled vs skeptical but oddly powerful solo persona played for control..I wondered if she was family of the deceased or what. I've been to at many protests and never seen this.
It makes perfect sense Madison doesn’t have cameras. Plaintiffs lawyers sue the police over bullshit and can extort a settlement.
Read the Scott v Harris 2007 Supreme Court case. When the dash board camera provides the relevant video, then the plaintiffs version of events is ignored.
Plaintiffs and their scum bag lawyers their ass off more than cops. The Madison City council settles these bullshit suits by giving welfare to the criminals and legal fees to the scumbag lawyers.
A city with 250,000 in 2026 and no body cameras. It’s fucking horseshit.
And anyone dumb enough to be a cop in Madison (or Minneapolis, etc) has no one to blame but themselves.
