Trump takes issue with the Lindsey Graham eulogy he's reading: "Virtually everyone liked Lindsey. Well, not everybody. But it sounds good. I have to be honest. I have to veer from this for a second." pic.twitter.com/L5JwAXxWi0

LOL. Some nice Trump humor.
Graham was a "tough cookie". Certainly true. The funeral had been postponed so "Foreign Leaders" could attend. I looked it up, since I was curious. Per Grok it was netenyahu, zelensky, and the President of Finland.
Sort of shocking. Thought for sure some leader from a gulf arab state, Baltics, Saudi Arabia, or the Georgian Republic would show up.
Ex-Senators Portman and Roy Blount also showed up. They served from 2011-2023 and Graham must have "mentored" them.
Graham is someone I just could not predict. It wasn't even just an election year thing. There was just something off in his decision making. He was always doing whatever he was told with no real consistency.
His wish for soldiers to be killed was too much. The little people in Russia didn't deserve that.
Sean Hannity gave the eulogy. Its funny how the CSPAN would focus on some people. Bill Barr for instance. I mean why him? Another was Miriam Addelson, who's not even in Government.
It was an interesting event but didn't have the hysteria around it that McCain's did.
I wrote hysteria but meant hype. It was low-key IMO.
As a musical aside, I had never thought of Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" as being usable as a recessional at a funeral, but I got to admit it worked!
I am pretty sure that the “sudden surge in blood pressure” that is likely to have caused his death came from being on the receiving end of the kinds of weapons that he was always advocating to send against other people he didn’t like.

How is this even real...

Graham acted like a mccain/romney/desantis republican.
But he wasn't treated like one.
It doesn't make any sense. Was it the gay thing?
Bibi Netanyahu is going to have to cancel/stop payment on his checks/donations to Lindsey.
Hannity: "Lindsey, he was often unfairly characterized as a warmonger. It’s not true. The truth was the opposite."
Trump: "He never saw a war that he didn't like. Only his true friends would understand that…"
Wait, that means… one of them actually told the truth?
From Rolling Stone:
Lindsey Graham was laid to rest today, and at least one of his many mourners marked the occasion by getting in a little nap. In several clips of the funeral, Donald Trump was seen openly drifting off in his seat, eyes and head drooping down as the dulcet tones of a political ally’s eulogy floated through the room.
Perhaps the president exhausted himself delivering a heartfelt eulogy for his supposedly dear friend.
It's odd, but my opinion of Graham is higher now, than it was when he was alive. Then, I thought he was a toadying hanger on, desperate to be liked by the varsity team, ingratiating. I think a lot of that was true, too, still. I think he was the plain chubby kid that wanted to be popular with the team.
But I'm impressed that he apparently hadn't enriched himself using the privileges of office and its many direct connections, as most career Senators do. And even more so, of his military career and absolute devotion to his immediate family, in particular his sister. It's impossible to overlook that too.
As for the likelihood of him being a closeted gay, who cares. I don't. He kept all that as his business, and that's worthy of respect too. R.I.P.
Aggie,
> his military career
Not so sure about that. It's common in some circles to piss on lawyers, but I think the situation currently with the JAG corps is a little different. Yeah, they aren't tip of the spear infantry guys, but then neither are the cooks like my uncle the career army cook.
The difference, of course, is that the cooks aren't inserting themselves into the chain of command. I don't think our military can completely recover its effectiveness until there is a minimum 72 hour communication latency between any line officer and any jag.
A peripheral note. Should anyone ask you what I want as the recession to my own funeral, tell them I'd like the second movement to Copland's Organ Symphony. It'll be a lively trip out the door. Joyous, too.
Organ Symphony: II. Scherzo (Allegro molto)
× he apparently hadn't enriched himself using the privileges of office ×
× absolute devotion to his immediate family, ×
Two points that reflect a good character.
× a closeted gay, who cares. I don't. He kept all that as his business, and that's worthy of respect ×
The trans spectrum has no redeeming value to society or humanity. Homo is certainly not a behavior worth celebrating.
RIP
Hannity said that Graham wanted “lasting peace” in the Middle East, in other words he wanted to establish a thousand year reich by destroying every civilization or country that might ever develop economically enough to pose the need for compromise, a word for which Graham had a visceral hatred. Graham flew to Israel every two weeks and put this desire to kill all of the people Israel designated as an enemy over his responsibility to our country and his state. He is more likely burning in Hell than resting in peace.
So we killed 150 school girls by bombing a target not vetted by any JAG, a target designated way before the conflict began, and hit in the first hour. The murder of these girls, in a double tap, made the plan of Iranians taking to the streets to overthrow their government impossible, Israel knew exactly what that target was, and likely believed that massacre of the children of naval officers, which is what we did, would collapse morale. Would it collapse your morale, or would the death of your child by an enemy unprovoked sneak attack fill you with an icy resolve.
Jaq you and rich are the most miserable people here. Why either of you haven't left the car running in the garage is a mystery.
You're obsession is unhealthy.
Senator Kennedy (LA) wrote in his book that Lindsey was a lot of fun, if you had dinner with him, you never knew if you were going to have an intelligent conversation or if he would get drunk and throw up in the fish tank.
His book, "How to test negative for stupid, and why Washington never will" is a great read.
Apparently Lindsey didn't trade his vote for a scripted, week-long extravaganza. Like some people. But he didn't know that he was going so soon.
Also who among us hasn't shared tic-tacs at a funeral? It's common courtesy.
"Also who among us hasn't shared tic-tacs at a funeral?"
Trump missed his mouth on the first attempt and it fell on the floor. He got the job done on the second try. Naturally, he didn’t pick the first one up and left it on the floor. I figured Vance or Rubio would fight over who could pick it up first and shove it in his mouth.
Polymarket puts Mitch at 65% to have a better turnout.
This is why people like Trump - he is the least bullshitter of any politician in the last 100 years.
A good illustration of why the "swamp" is never going to be "drained."
"This is why people like Trump - he is the least bullshitter of any politician in the last 100 years."
The point about populists is they are hard to replace.
MAGA voters, the resilient substrate of Trump support, have loyalty to him that is tribal to the point or anarchy (as we experienced on Jan 6th).
Few will share even a modicum of allegiance to Vance or Rubio. Look how quickly and quietly Orban disappeared, not even a hint of a successor in sight.
We just need to hold our nose through it, unfortunately.
Tic Tacs? Grounds # 4,563 for impeachment.
My God some of the most trivial of things that are given weight... SMH
Trump - Sometimes he really brings the cringe.
Kak-a-bot (D)
Trump voters are not all MAGA - you leftist cultist twit.
Many voted Trump because YOUR corrupt party is complete shit in comparison.
Tell us about billions wasted on Somalis.
Tell us about millions of illegals allowed in so they can commit any amount of crime and vote for the D-power.

I love how Trump patted Lindsey's casket on his way back to his seat. Trump really is a showman.
One of the interesting things about Graham and his death was how little cheering you had from the liberal/left. In fact most of their commentary on the funeral was an attack on Trump, not a summary of why Lindsey Graham was so terrible.
Quite an oddd reaction for a dead "Rightwing" Senator from South carolina who was friends with Trump, was pro-life and opposed (at least verbally) the entire social leftwing agenda.
It just shows the leftwing elite doesn't really care anything other than foreign policy, race, and immigration. On those issues Lindsey was one of them. And of course, the average libtard just follows the party line. So, if they aren't told to hate Lindsey Graham or whoever, they don't. They're total dumb robots.
"Bibi Netanyahu is going to have to cancel/stop payment on his checks/donations to Lindsey."
Shockingly, ol' Linds was only worth about $2 million when he died. Such a lousy grifter.
Miss Lindsey wasn't getting bribed by Israel, he was getting blackmailed. We kept hearing rumors of his uh "special sex life", but no hard evidence.
In any case, there's no evidence Graham cared about $$- just power. McCain wasn't into money either, despite marrying a heiress.
When your biggest compliment is "Well, at least he wasn't a crook", you got nothing.
'...When your biggest compliment is "Well, at least he wasn't a crook", you got nothing. ...'
As compared to you.
Trump also didn't recite the Apostle's Creed, which shouldn't be that hard to do if you are really a Christian.
