"... that swept a series of congressional contests last week in New York. Ms. Kiros, an immigrant and first-time candidate, was born the year after [Rep. Diana] DeGette, 68, took office. Her victory in the solidly Democratic district [Denver] all but ensures her election in November.... Her opposition to U.S. support for Israel was also a cornerstone of her campaign and central to her political identity.... In her campaign biography, Ms. Kiros highlighted the fact that the Manhattan law firm where she once worked had fired her in 2023 after she refused to take down a letter that raised questions about Israel’s historical legitimacy, defended pro-Palestinian campus protesters and challenged the firm’s response to activist law students. She has faced criticism for declining to call antisemitic a fatal firebombing attack in Boulder, Colo., on people who were marching in support of Israeli hostages...."
The NYT reports.
Here's the Axios report, "House Dems rocked by another socialist upset: 'Wake up call'": "Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) was a staunch progressive, not a moderate.... So why did she become a target of the left? 'One more case in the growing dynamic of performative politics,' [said] one House Democrat... 'Diana was an excellent representative with seniority — but the style of someone younger and more outspoken has become more attractive to that cohort of motivated urban left voters.'"

The aristocrats who supported the french revolutionaries were the first in line to the guillotine. So, it has ever been thus for lefties.
"Younger and more outspoken" = communist and anti-semitic.
One way or another this band-aid is going to be ripped off. Either the "blue wave" election the Dems have been eagerly anticipating in November fizzles out due to the grossly unpalatable communists that the base is choosing in the primaries, or we will be at each others' throats in a civil war sooner than anyone expected.
Worth noting that the Congressional ballot advantage has fallen precipitously to about D+4 last time I looked.
You lost me at 15-term incumbent.
The growing radicalization and antisemitism of the modern Left isn't a problem for Democrats, it's a problem for America. This is the result of decades of indoctrination through the educational system and popular culture. The Dem establishment has been stoking the fire ever since Trump came down the escalator and now has no way to dose the growing inferno. (Sorry for the cliche's, it's just kind of happens).
Very soon, politics will devolve into a firm black-white conservative-socialist divide, and we'll no longer have to deal with a messy gray middle of undecideds.
This woman most certainly hates Jews.
The Dems are being taken over by the Communists and the Muslims. And liberal white woman will continue to vote for this until they too are chewed up.
GOOD. The people need stark choices. Get these leftists out from behind the scenes and put them on the ballot.
White Democrats could be an endangered species. They built a coalition to attack Bad Whites, but overestimated their ability to dictate who is Bad.
Isn't it past due, that the treacherous billionaires that have devoted their lives to tearing down the very structures they made their fortunes from, finally get the kind of attention they are clamoring for? Singham and Soros is not a vaudeville team. They should be treated with the same kind of insidious venom that they have been injecting into the veins of Western Society. Hungary recognized the threat and stripped Soros of citizenship. How is it possible the US has not done the same, declared him and his activist progeny as enemies and undesirables, and sent them packing? The same for those directing the Ford and Rockefeller foundations.
It doesn't matter what the history is. Israel supports and is the basis of Western values and morality and the Palestinians are grifters for a living. Self-defense ought to win the debate.
Not to worry. We are assured by all the brightest thinkers that these are merely fringe candidates.
Don't democrats have a complete say on who runs under their banner, and thus could stop this if they wanted to?
There will be little reason for the 'Vote Blue No Matter Who' to change their thinking any time soon. Look at the commies we already have in Congress. How long have they been there? How strong is their political position? Who thinks AOC is going to get voted out, any time soon? Once they are there, the DSA is planning on keeping them in place for a very long time, and growing their ranks. There is no dynamic in play that would challenge this course. Practically speaking, that means the next 6-10 years will feature more of the same until the course is likely to correct. Project ahead and see what that looks like, in a pretty evenly-divided electorate.
30 years in Congress is too long - it opens the door for insurgents creating de facto term limits. Good riddance.
“Wake up call?” Really? This has been predictable since the 1990s when Clinton’s only virtue was holding the radicals at bay. The unpredictable part was the Islamist invasion. Now the Communists and/or Islamists coalescing around antisemitism and TDS have a running start in New England, the West Coast, Colorado, Minnesota and Michigan. Since Charlie Kirk is gone, Trump is the only apparent bulwark against them and he keeps stepping on his dick. It is, however, comforting to think that when the takeover is complete the Muslims will behead the Commies.
Worse for the future?

"The century of progressivism did not go well. The European system that Wilson and the progressives scolded Americans for not adopting—which he called nearly perfect—led to the governments that caused the most awful century that the world has ever seen. Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini and Mao all were intertwined with the rise of progressivism, and all were opposed to the natural rights on which our Declaration is based. Many progressives expressed admiration for each of them shortly before their governments killed tens of millions of people. It was a terrible mistake to adopt progressivism’s rejection of the Declaration’s vision of universal, unalienable natural rights."

I’m already tired of hearing about the leftist “it girl” of the day. After all what has the overly celebrated Actress On Call (AOC) ever accomplished in her two terms in congress?
Always happy to see any incumbent of any party unseated.
I don't really care about this election otherwise. 1) Makes a better chance to get a non-incumbent repo elected 2) If this communist gets elected and seated, they will be useless in terms of getting anything done due to inexperience, lack of seniority, motivation.
Look at Bernie Sanders, in DC for 20-30 years now. AOC going on 8, other squad members. What have they accomplished? Other than AOC getting Amazon's NY HQ cancelled (how much di Bezos pay her for that?) and making a lot of noise, they have not accomplished anything at all.
John Henry
"This woman most certainly hates Jews."
Her letter, which Althouse links above, begins;
"Beginning on November 1st, 2023, numerous US law firms, including my own, signed a letter. This letter rightfully rebukes the anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and bigotry of all kinds that has spiked in recent weeks, but then goes on (to my confusion) to cite “calls for the elimination of the Israeli state” as anti-Semitism."
That does not sound to me like a full-throated roar of Jew-hatred. It sounds to me like a completely justified criticism of a dishonest accusation, deployed in the service of an increasingly unpopular political position.
Now, if you want to claim it is actually a coded dog-whistle of Jew-hatred, go ahead. Make your argument. But a growing number of Americans -- on the right as well as the left -- are sick of your argument-by-name-calling. That dog won't hunt.
I doubt that I would vote for this woman, if I had the opportunity. She sounds like a Communist. But at least if she's elected, AIPAC will have one less representative in Congress, and Colorado will have one more.
Jupiter:
Don't be clever about this. More likely than not, she hates Jews.
"...Other than AOC getting Amazon's NY HQ cancelled (how much di Bezos pay her for that?) and making a lot of noise, they have not accomplished anything at all...."
Well, she has established her brand, and by virtue of 8 years, she has become educated in the ways of Congress. Would you argue that she is less effective now? How do you know?
I would argue that simple presence in Congress establishes legitimacy as a politician working a system. I would argue that this role is primarily that of an influencer that is granted the super-power of top level inside information. Who would you rather have it? She is there, and now others are likely to join her.
When you start seeing this quorum start to flex, introducing bills and getting them through, by then it will be too late. Modern 'Critical Theory' got its start, what - 40 years ago, or so? And we're still busy, trying to unwind its mischief, instead of spending our political capital on sound, positive governance that benefits the taxpayers. Basic roads, bridges, hospitals, schools stuff, all getting pushed aside under a crushing debt and shabby voting laws, because we're stuck putting out the brush fire.
Two interesting things are happening here. First, the Democrats are burning a lot of campaign money that they could have used for the final elections. Second, I think that a lot of Democrats looked at what happened with the Republicans recently, the fact that Trump aligned candidates had a lot of success in recent elections, and want to copy that strategy. They see MAGA being successful in elections and suddenly they're channeling Trump's style and tactics.
I think that the Democrats are treading on thin ice, here. Even though the MAGA candidates have been winning, they're not as far out to the right as the DSA candidates are to the left. You don't see MAGA candidates promising voters a "Libertarian paradise" the same way that you see the DSA candidates promising voters a "Socialist paradise." And the trend to be very vocally antisemitic, might scare off a lot of centrist voters.
Slightly off topic, but bear with me. In today's NYT, there's an article about how lame Trump's idea of using Syria to suppress Hezbollah is. The article goes on to describe how awful the previous occupation of Lebanon by Syrian forces under Assad was. It lasted for twenty nine years and was apparently quite brutal. Anyone ever hear of anyone in the West ever protesting that occupation or, for that matter, even hearing about it.......Israel is playing by Mid-East rules, and those rules involve killing a lot of people. You can argue how effective such tactics are, but I don't think you can claim that Israel is unique in using them or, compared to the other actors, especially heavy handed.in their application.......There's lots of misery in the Middle East and Israel is responsible for just a small fraction of it.
With the exception of Platner, sounds like the new Marxists are all third worlders bent on the dismantling of the US of A. This is the teen takeover of of our government institutions thanks to mass migration.
Axios reports several other DSA candidates in the offing:
“The candidates include Donavan McKinney in Michigan, Oliver Larkin in Florida, Mai Vang and Angela Gonzalez-Torres in California, Kai Newkirk in Arizona and Elijah Manley in Florida.”
She's attractive and personable. So is AOC and Mamdami. That's why Communism failed. They never tried it with young, good looking leaders. If Stalin or Mao had been a little more svelte or had a nicer smile, who knows what wonders they would have accomplished.
I don't think they'll feed Bernie Sanders to the crocodiles last.
Or the socialist, Hitler, who was Jew-obsessed. A little lipstick on that pig would have secured his progress and did, emphatically
Hitler wasn't German. Stalin wasn't Russian. Diversity and redistributive change schemes were trademarks of both. Also, entertaining abortive ideation to relieve "burdens" of State, etc. A Great Leap, Mao... now.
Let's put the 'huge socialist surge' in perspective:
DSA has ~104,700 members in a country of 340 million people.
That’s 0.03% of the U.S. population.
They hold 8 mayors out of 19,400 nationwide.
They’re about to have 5 members of Congress… out of 435.
Zero U.S. Senators.
Even their prominent leader in New York City barely scraped by with 50.4% of the vote and only got 11% of the youth vote. This isn’t a mass movement. It’s a tiny, loud activist niche that punches well above its actual weight in online discourse. In reality, they remain a fringe outlier in American politics.
It would appear to me that IEEs post above should have been sent to the now terrified Hakeem and Scheemer.
Myself? I am hoping the DSA fires continue to be stoked.

As far as Democrats are concerned, Netanyahu has a MAGA hat permanently stuck on his head. Remember, MAGA, your coalition is getting more selective! The pure believers are the ones left. A lot of us have left the party feeling disappointed, if not utterly betrayed.

I would argue the call for the elimination of Israel is the definition of jewish hate but I won’t because I also know this woman will have some positive integer of jewish people voting for her…

Agreed. We have such short memories, when the incumbents tell us what we want to hear we vote for them. The next day, its back-stabby all the way to just before the next election.
The worst news of of the primary election in CO is the on-purpose 4-candiates running for D - thus giving the horrid horrid horrid Jenna Griswold (D) the win for attorney general on the D ticket.
She is a fucking nightmare. And totally unqualified on top of her rabid corruption and radical leftism.
At very infrequent intervals the Earth's magnetic polarity flips. Gaia having a bad day I guess. At somewhat more frequent intervals the polarity of US political parties flips. We now have the "Progressives" very fond of the 14th Amendment (passed in 1868 in response to the then Dem's shoddy behaviour regards freed slaves). And the "Conservatives" saying, 'hey now...things have changed. In 1868 you were where you were. Now you could, in theory, board a jet in China at the first labor pain and hit the benefits lottery by having mom's feet touch the ground a minute before baby's'.
The real issue of course is that the Legislative Branch is a skimpy, gnarled thing. Taking a stance that could jeopardize their reelection and post office grift.....horrors!
Peachy you should use screen names here. Otherwise you risk offending people with whom you have no issue. It's bad form.
Mere criticism of Israel is not necessarily antisemitic. However, Israel's enemies are in fact fundamentally antisemitic (not to mention anti-Christian and anti-American). Therefore, anyone who associates herself with the cause of Israel's enemies is either antisemitic or supports antisemitism, as far as I'm concerned.
Frankly, it's hard for me to believe that American women parading around with Palestinian flags are not themselves thoroughly antisemitic. If they merely objected to Israeli government's tactics in combatting its enemies, why would they be so obsessed with that issue and not, for example, the Iranian government's slaughter of tens of thousands of its own citizens earlier this year, or any number of other cases of government-inflicted "atrocities"? What would make a young American woman go all-in for the cause of the Palestinians instead of other allegedly victimized populations if she didn't feel that the Israelis stood apart in the world as a reprehensible people?
@Tacitus. Some people on this site change their screen name more frequently than most people change their underwear.
“'Diana was an excellent representative with seniority — but the style of someone younger and more outspoken has become more attractive to that cohort of motivated urban left voters.'"
Well, Kiros is attractive, and since motivated urban left voters are going to have some kind of representation, it might as well come in a pretty package. I find the neo-Nazism rather off-putting, but it seems to be fashionable with kids today.

In Israel - there are no clear leaders to oust the dreaded Nenanyahu -
Hey leftists - who are you wild about as a leader for Israel?
Oh right- you want Israel destroyed just like the Islamic supremacists do.
Tuq'ristes - who do you want as the leader of Israel?
Do tell!
Israel supports and is the basis of Western values and morality
No. Jesus Christ is the basis for Western values and morality. Israel murders children and calls is "self defense." Israel is much more like Hamas than it is Christian USA. Christians do not tolerate an 83% civilian kill rate. We will never accept this.
This isn't a battle of good versus evil. This is a battle of evil versus another evil. Why is my tax money going to support thus?
Israel is not like us. They do not share our values. It is a canard that Israel is our "ally." When we went to Afghanistan after 9/11, did Israel send troops to help? Fuck no! They did not!
Who had our backs after 9/11? The UK, Canada, etc. All of our good allies that we are now denigrating. When America was attacked, Canadians sacrificed their lives for us. Where was our great "ally" Israel? Pro-Israel bootlickers: answer that one.
Seems like a pretty one-sided "friendship."
Rich's paymasters are panicking.
We run political ads to elect American politicians who will fund Israel without any conditions. Here's why we never mention Israel in those ads. ~ AIPAC

It was Hillary vs Bernie and the Party jammed Hillary down Dem voter throats. They haven't forgotten it.
Hillary went on to radicalize and motivate MAGA voters like nothing else.
She did the same thing to Dem voters who are now twitterpated by "socialism" and young Bernie clones who preach that old time religion.
Hillary has done more damage to the Democrat Party than anybody in a hundred years.
Thanks, Hillary!
Anything seems possible in a money-printing Fantasia like ours. And many, many people have limited or no experience with the leftist charms and so are easily seduced.
This is the unpleasant irony of our current circumstances. If, should, when the market retreats a hefty chunk, there could be even more gullibles ready to condemn capitalism. There could be a self-perpetuating whirlwind of bearishness that may evolve.
Look at our system's exemplars -- Bill Gates, Dweeby Dweeberburg, Atlas Bezos, among the most illustrious -- and consider the arguments that will have to be made to counter skepticism of such heroes. Oh, yeah, Elon. Cool.
It is time to get one's portfolio in order. The stock market's gains enabled the Left to sound plausible, to someone. And the stock market's losses will only increase those numbers, I fear. What's more, we have a new Fed Head who isn't a disciple of the money-printing theology. Or, who MAY not be, let's say. If the stock market begins wiping out equity and retirement cushions, where is the great pro case for free-market capitalism? Who makes it, and who of the "undecided middle" believes it?

"House Dems rocked by another socialist upset: 'Wake up call'"
The worst lack all conviction while the even worser are full of passionate intensity.
A little reminder to the Democrat Party: He who rides a tiger is afraid to dismount.
The Democrat congressmen were "rocked". Really? Well they must be rather sensitive and easily upset. Or maybe its their AIPAC handlers - one per congressman. Or their big dollars donors.
IOW, to the new york times and the MSM, Love of Israel is the most important issue. that these candidates agree with the MSM editors on every other issue is irrelevant.
Looks like some of the D voters don't like Israeli Genocide or US congressmen kow-towing to foreign countries. And vote accordingly. Republicans on the other hand, love to be slaves to Israel. And killing innocent kids? Why they love it. Ask Randy Fine.
The Iranian government killed more civilians in three days and nights than Israel has in its 2+ year expedition in Gaza. The only comments from leftists have been in support of… Iran. They not only don’t care about the death of innocents, they cheer for it.
I hate living in a world that contains those people. They are not just evil, they are self-righteous about their evil. They are the future, and I am glad to be old.
We saw the same thing with Mandingo in nyc. Just saying he wasn't going to israel after he was elected was enough to send the MSM into hysteria. But since his election, he's made it clear he's on team zionist, and the MSM is back treating him as one of theirs. Yeah, they don't like that economic populism But no big whoop.
The Democratic Socialists of America have demonstrated they can turn out motivated voters for primary election in blue cities, and can fundraise. They're using the Democratic Party as a host or a vehicle to get on state and local ballots and use the Democrat name instead of the DSA name.
Of course, they'd like nothing better than snatching the party itself away from the "real" Democrats. Even if they fail, in whole or part, they're still wreaking havoc with the old guard.
It amazes me the obsession some people have over one small country. Really; it does amaze me.
Israel murdered over 80,000 men, women and kids in Gaza. And they're still doing it. They killed over 300 UN workers, sniped Children, and bombed hospitals, churches and schools.
they've killed over 3000 in Lebanon in their illegal invasion. They launched a sneak attack on Iran that's killed over 2000 Civilians. Every day they murder kids and old people on the West bank.
As for Iran if they killed thousands of their own citizens, why dont we send them and aid package an a "Well done" - like we do with Israel. The USA seems to like assassinations, and killing civilans.
The Democratic Party can stop this anytime they want to. I'm of two minds as to whether I want them to.
From October 10, 2025 to April 14, 2026, the office said Israel shot at civilians 921 times, raided residential areas beyond the “yellow line” 97 times, bombed and shelled Gaza 1109 times, and demolished people’s properties on 273 occasions.
Israel has also continued to block vital humanitarian aid and destroy homes and infrastructure across the Strip.
And Republicans approve. Next to importing millions of illegals there's nothing more the Republican Establishment likes than murder of foreign civilians. And if you stand in their path, like Massie, you get destroyed.
D.D. Driver @ 12:46
In WW2 more civil1ans died than soldiers. And I'm not talking about concentration camps, or bombs. You know what they died of? Starvation.
War is shit DD. It always has been. It always will be. Islam is a death cult. They don't care how many of their non-combatants die. To them it's a win. They can then use those deaths for propaganda.

Compared to the repeating patterns of history, we really got lucky, so to speak, with our revolution and civil war.

If nothing else happens the field grows in strength takes energy from the rotation until the rotation stops and the field begins to unwind and produce a counter-rotation, until there's very little field left and the rotation is as strong as initially. Complications: the rotations kink (in 3D which they cannot do in 2D), so things are more complicated, but there's nothing preserving the original sense of North and South except momentum which is changing all the time.
"Jupiter:

Her letter explicitly denounces anti-semitism. It is certainly possible that she dissembles. But as matters stand, you are accusing her of hating Jews because she admittedly hates Israel. Is that your position? That Israel can do no wrong, and anyone who says otherwise is an antisemite? If so, you are likely to discover that more and more Americans are becoming antisemites.
According to Grok:
Since 1948:
Killed by Israelis: Low tens to low hundreds of thousands of Arabs (concentrated in specific wars/operations; includes both combatants and civilians).
Killed by other Arabs: Several million (wars, civil wars, repression). 11 million prior to 2007 alone.
Israel is responsible for less than 1%.
Maybe Israel's Arab killing is a cover-up. Who benefits from hyping Israel's use of force while ignoring the much bigger problem?
Incumbent White Dems, ask not for whom the bell tolls, for it tolls for thee. It was the same deal back in 1970s when White guys started getting ousted & replaced by w9men and POCs. Dems never seem to learn do they? Their imported diversity ultimately wants to replace us, including them.

Whataboutism doesn't convince anyone that Israel is a just or moral country. By their fruits ye shall know them. The USA needs to stop subsidizing a Gangster state. Maybe when they clean up their act and start acting civilized we can turn on the money tap again.
Known civilian deaths in Iran. Presumed civilian deaths in Gaza.
AI is hallucinating with incoherent rhythmic evidence.
Good propaganda translates a complex issue into a simple personal fable, so in that vein:
Hamas and Hezboalla says I will randomly shoot missiles to kill your civilians until you are forced to kill me. Israel kills him. See! I’m going to tell the UN, you are in big trouble!
Standard Zionist defenses when someone mentions israels genocide in Gaza and Gangster methods in Lebanon and the West bank:
1) change subject "What about...."
2) attack the critic "You jew hater"
3) Quibble over numbers
4) Quibble over words. "What really is Genocide, its so complicated".
Never do they say "Oh Israel is actually a moral country that acts in a civilized manner. Look at...."
And that's because it would never occur to Zionists to be moral, or to be ashamed of assassinations, killing babies, aid workers, doctors, or anyone else. Might makes Right. Israel uber alles.
Of course, when Israelis are killed, why that's different. Then the garments are rent and the tears flow. "How dare they, the monsters".
Melat is Beldar Conehead’s illegitimate daughter.
It's not a bad thing to unseat incumbents. I note the NYTimes doesn't Headline the anti-Israeliness of her views.
Just once, I would like RCOcean to tell us if Auschwitz was wrong. I can predict that he will. He'll say "It was awful and terrible that Adolf had all those Gypsies and homosexuals put to death." And he is deliberately parroting Gazan claims. Despite knowing that Gaza lies through their teeth and makes up numbers to blame Israel with. Green helmet guy is one of RC's favorite people.
Hey RC: when do you start quoting from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to as reasons to support killing Jews?
Facts and statistics matter more than your internet fueled outrage.
It could be argued with facts that every Arab killed by Israel saves 100 other Arab lives, especially when the ones they kill are primarily combatants, terrorists, and extremists that are most dangerous to average civilian nonviolent Arabs. I mean, if that's really what you care about.
They all want Israel to be destroyed. Something the far left and far right have in common. The many antisemites who voted for her are not good people.
Again with the Jewish American anti-semites.
In reality, we confront a dangerous world in which mad dog autocrats like Putin and XI are intent on expanding their world of torture and fear. In a dream, all our problems and moral dilemmas spring from our alliance with one small state, an alliance we can end. And then peace on earth.
As it was in the beginning, democracy confronts powerful enemies and as it was then, some run away into dreams of an easy past and future. I believe that there are enough in this country coming from all races and climes into an understanding of the American Declaration to save that Declaration for us and our allies, even if that means facing danger rather than pretending we have no real enemies but the Jews.
Rcocean -
How would you suggest Israel prosecute the war in Gaza. Hundreds of miles of tunnels (built by children, btw), and weapons hidden in hospitals, schools, and homes. Please share your military strategy.
It would never occur to Zionists to be moral? Really? All they want is a place to live in peace from antisemites like you. A place where their history goes back thousands of years. They don't start wars but they have no problem defending themselves when attacked. And they always win.
You disappoint me. I thought you were a decent person.
Oh yeah, what the US needed in Afghanistan was a bunch of Israeli boots on the ground. That would have gone over well
with the locals for sure. Israeli bases and intel were helpful, of course.
It would also weaken the IDF in its primary mission, but for many that's the best part.
This is not to endorse the open-ended nation-building mission that Little Bush ended up with, just to point out the flaws in the idea of Israelis in Afghanistan being helpful.

Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 4 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith. Also: No italics, even briefly. Use asterisks for emphasis. And don't play with the format by changing fonts or using boldface or all caps. Never include more than one extra line break between paragraphs.
