“Beauty is that which we promises happiness”. Stendhal. He was happy in his chair.

I loved that. Thank you for posting it. And Anthony Eyton (b. 1923) is STILL alive!

Where I live, north east of Atlanta, is doted with old abandoned houses, sheds, and barns. They are in a state of advance rust, there is no color and they are barely standing. And yet there is something pleasing about them.

This guy would have loved Detroit in the 1980s.

There is something quite soul soothing about the gentle acceptance that can come with old age,

In NJ there were these abandoned houses where a new highway would render them uninhabitable. They have a name for them. Let me ask an ai.

No chair despair, there.

This is what is known as "Plan B".

This is how old peoples' homes end up with trash tunnels.

I saw it at first glance, and then I imagined a teenager saying that when you point out their messy room. An excuse that only works on the people who love the emperor's new clothes.

The paintings are quite nice. The old beat up chair itself is nothing. This reminds me of when my philosophy professor went through a "logical" proof that a table in the classroom that we were all looking at wasn't really there.

By comparison, even that guy runs circles around Joe Biden cognitively.

He's reflecting upon himself isn't he.

Abandoned is not the right word for it.

The pressure to be normal must be immensely suffocating for some people. He sort of reminds me of the aging artists and craftsmen in their decaying haunts on the 5th Avenue Alameda Estuary waterfront neighborhood in Oakland

In truth everything is in decay per se?

Yes. Truth Decay.

Cool old man. His chair of beauty will be a joy forever, or at least as long as he lives, which is all we can know of forever.

"Very beautiful in its shattered state..." I look in the mirror and see the "shattered state". The "Very beautiful" escapes me.
