And there's this, from Devon Murphy-Anderson, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party: "Unfortunately, Graham Platner’s team has repeatedly reached out to us in an attempt to put their thumb on the scale of what this process looks like. We have repeatedly reiterated to Graham Platner’s team that they have no role in determining our next Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate."
But he won the primary. Shouldn't that at least mean that someone with the same political orientation should replace him? Otherwise, it seems as though the part of the Democratic Party that lost in the primary process is stealing the nomination. That means the only way Platner’s team can have any role in determining the nominee is for Platner to hang onto the nomination he won. Unfortunately for the Party, it has no role in stopping him.
He wants to hold on? He can hold on. The dream is dead? Hold onto that dream.
UPDATE: Platner abandons his dream. He’s out. Watch his video here.

"One of the defining qualities of post-2010 elite media, culture, and academia is a crippling incapacity for basic social and psychological recognition.
Part of the reason for this is that elites come from a narrow, oversocialized milieu. Another big reason is that elite culture (novels, films, etc) used to be brutally and unsparingly honest in its psychological depictions, and you could learn a lot from that and recognize all sorts of personalities you would encounter in real life. Post-2010 the purpose of culture has been to propagandize, lie, confuse, and dissemble on behalf of all sorts of inconvenient truths and now as a result elites tasked with sense making are poorly ‘educated’ to an unprecedented degree and don’t stand a chance in engineering the outcomes that they desire."

IRC, Biden gotta visit from "The Enforcer" Nancy Pelosi. Wonder who will/has paid Platner a visit. No doubt the pitch was/will be - "Leave and well give you a job/$$$ and support your run for another office. Stay and you'll lose. And we'll make sure you never go anywhere in the D party. Or get a political job anywhere."
The D party elite can do that. Give bribes and punishments. The R party really cant. They're about as organized as a drunken frat party, and they hold none of the levers of powers. The D's can offer jobs in think tanks, colleges, future D administrations or the MSM. Not to mention hollywood and book deals.
Personally, i don't care. yeah, the D primary voters are being ignored. Boo hoo. When did D voters ever care about "having a voice". LOL. The just follow the leader and the party line. And they're proud of it.
Just do what they do in California. The D leadership/big donors pick the candidate to win and X percent of D voters go along and that's that.
Its not like Democrat voters really care about policy. As long as those Goddamn Republicans lose and someone with (D) after their name wins - they're happy.
I wonder what Al Franken is doing these days. While he was still in the Senate he campaigned against the NBC-COMCAST merger, which pissed off a few very powerful people. The way I heard it they ginned up the sex naughtiness thing to oust him, never mind what the voters of Minnesota might think. SOP.
It all must seem like a dream to Platner. A year ago he was basically unemployed, looking after a couple of the boat launches in a town of 1200 people and taking his outboard out a few times a week to scrounge up some clams for his mother. Then without doing a damn thing he is plucked out of obscurity by a couple of New York City communists and presented as a candidate for the USA Senate even though he'd never been in politics or run for so much as a local school board seat. He gets glowing profiles in major national magazines, he's getting his ass kissed on national television by celebrity news readers, talk show libtards, and Democrat Party influencers. Within a few months he has gone from absolute anonymity to name-brand fame and the cusp of becoming a USA senator with all the perks and privileges and riches and power that he couldn't even imagine having prior. For months he had famous and influential people supporting him and defending every scumbag act he ever committed and it all seemed surreal and unstoppable. Then for some inexplicable reason, over the course of a holiday weekend all his supporters and defenders turned on him like rabid dogs. Now he's faced with going back into the mud where he came from having gained nothing but disgrace and a national reputation as a rapist. Lonesome Rhodes has nothing on this guy.
The DNC has the psychology backwards. You go to Platner and say
“you are on your own, we have written off you and Maine for the Senate. You will stand for election and we will leak all your sins on a daily basis and never give you a dime. You are going to have to crawl at your own expense from one town to another giving speeches attended by the insane and you are going to have to live off your disability income, which we are going to have our congresspeople challenge because obviously you can work as an oyster fisher.
So call us with your resignation today and we may find you a decent no show job at an ngo. Don’t talk to me until you quit.”
I hope all these scum have a titanic battle that destroys the Democrat Party in Maine for a decade. I'm no fan of Susan Collins but she beats the hell out of the alternative.
i see they say he just did https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/graham-platner-drops-out-of-maine-senate-race-after-assault-allegations/ar-AA27vAeg?ocid=BingNewsVerp
Platner is gone, but that doesn't mean that the Democrats will get a good person as a replacement candidate. Diogenes would be more likely to find an honest man.
Yeah poor AL franken. The man who lied about Sessions and tried to destroy him. He got kicked out because all the other D Senators thought he was a worthless, low class clown.
But hey its Minnasota. A clown senator for a clown state. Walz is a perfect fit for them. A corrupt goofball who's OK with importing 2 million Africans into the state as long as some $$ gets in his pocket.
Big picture - it doesnt matter. No matter who the D's put out against Collins they'll lose. Too many Dumb Boomers who'll vote for Collins because they've always voted for collins.
Platner out? Good. I thought AIPAC bringing up the tattoo stuff was moronic. But he's obviously a week-kneed coward who just wanted to play "The rebel" to get power. Just like Fettermann played the fake "Working man" to get elected.
So, now the D's can put up some AIPAC approved dullard who will lose to collins.
Does he know fade into obscurity? Any offers for a book deal? He;d be a ratings booster for Survivor of Big Brother? Well, his mother's rich so there's no urgency in pursuing his next job offer. The world's his oyster. He just has to find the right venue.
At least he didn't cry like Barbara Lawton in the 2010 Wisconsin Gubernatorial primary. Wikipedia: "On August 15, 2009, Politico announced Governor Doyle will not be seeking a third term according to sources familiar with his campaign. Soon after this announcement, Lawton's entry into the race was confirmed. Two months later, on October 26, 2009, Lawton announced she would be withdrawing from the race, citing "personal reasons."
"Hey Eric. Platner here. What are you doing this weekend? Want to come do some fishing? Is Fang Fang back in town, because The Boys Are Back, and nobody 's watching! Am I right ?"
MAGA is going to miss Platner. He was a not-rare-at-all blessing. A. Wiener, E. Swalwell, H. Biden, J. Edwards, B. Clinton, G. Newsom, and on and on. And the people who attack Trump over sex supported every one of them.
Democrat voters in Maine starting to look like Stockholm Syndrome survivors. hey ! There really is a Stockholm, ME, up past Caribou, up past New Sweden, and just south of California. Seems apropos somehow.
Platner was hilarious in that he was literally walking around with a massive Totenkopf on his chest. As with the goons of Azov, donors were ready to mortgage the core beliefs of their narrative to gain trivial political advantage. But clearly they got cold feet with the loss of Dan Goldman and many other establishment candidates. So the party gets a reminder: any candidates who might actually pose a problem to the moneyed interests are going to be exposed.
I watched Platner's drop out speech. Essentially he accused the mainstream Democrats of forcing him to drop put by denying him the basics needed to run a campaign, the basics usually supplied by the party - voter lists, access to big donors and such. They forced him to drop out because he was a socialist. He dismissed the rape charges as false, as a sort of story concocted to deny him the nomination. In a way, he was running as Trump/ Spencer Pratt figure, a man persecuted by the elite structures he is trying to reform. I say, "running" because I'm not sure Platner was dropping out. He might be launching a write-in candidacy. It was a good speech for that.
You know, he used to be a soldier. So you'd think he would know how to fight. Donald Trump, who was never a soldier, and avoided war if I remember right, when somebody tried to assassinate him, he stood up and said, "Fight! Fight! FIght!"
Who's your enemy? That's the first question you ask. It seems to me that he has correctly surmised that it's the Democrat party who has done this to him. So if I was giving him advice -- he did not ask me -- my advice would be, why are you giving up now? Why are you submitting to the Party?
If the Party is the one who has screwed up your life so badly, maybe you ought to acknowledge that the Party you were trying to represent is not a good party all all. Or, at a minimum, that there are bad people in the Party, and the Party needs to change.
Who's going to fight to make that change happen? Not you. Okay.
I hope you find God, and you have a better life going forward. This too shall pass.
Peachy, in my 3rd world village, votes are counted publicly at the wat in front of whoever wants to watch, as soon as voting ends. California is much worse.
Political campaigns are not a good mechanism for finding out the truth.
Criminal or civil trials are also not a great mechanism for finding out the truth. But definitely better than political campaigns.
If you want the truth, pray to God to reveal to you what the truth is. You may or may not find out the truth that way. Satan means "opposition." Jesus coined the word to describe that spiritual battle.
God knows the truth. The rest of us will struggle to find it.
Kamala was put on the spot like this and still managed to lose record amounts of money. I applaud this because it screws the donor class who fund these shenanigans.
Platner’s drop out video exposes a big contradiction. On the one hand, he says he won the primary fight against the entrenched interests in the Democratic Party. On the other hand, he says he is dropping out now not because he is guilty of the rape allegation but because the entrenched interests are cutting him off from their fundraising networks and voter information databases.
In Platner’s telling, he is both fighting the entrenched interests and completely dependent on their resources to win election in the fall.
The first rule of the Democrat party is - there are no rules. The 2nd rule is - primary election winners aren't. The 3rd rule is - never let a crisis go to waste. The 4th rule is - see rule number 1.
God has been extremely helpful to me. I've been blessed.

When I was a kid, I gave up on prayer. I would pray for stuff, and I wouldn't get what I wanted. So I just gave up on it. I was impatient. I was a kid. Like you, Smilin Jack.
When you grow up, and your life takes a bad turn, and you need help, don't be afraid to pray. We're all sinners. And God forgives.
Embedded in Hot Air’s “Wednesday’s Final Word” is this:
“Emily Suttle-Braun at Newsweek: A decade ago, I dated Graham Platner.
He was never once cruel to me. He was warm and funny and, in the ordinary sense of the word, respectful. We drank too much. We slept together. We were careless with ourselves in the way a lot of people in their twenties are, but not with each other. It was extremely casual and short-lived. ...
Until this week, I was a supporter. I believed he could be the kind of plainspoken, populist progressive “Mamdani for Maine” candidate that our party is starving for.
And I believe Jenny Racicot and Lyndsey Fifield.
I want to leave those two sentences sitting next to each other, because the discomfort between them is the whole point.
We say we believe women. What we usually mean is that we believe women when it is cheap. We believe them when the accused is a stranger or a Republican or a man none of us liked anyway. The real test is what you do when believing her costs you something. When the man is your friend. When he was good to you. When you have the texts on your phone to prove he was never anything but kind to you.”
The editor asks the obvious question. Why wait to believe Raciccot and Fifield now and not six weeks ago when they went public.
I’ll add that one should not look for the Democrats to have learned anything from this debacle. They do not have the slightest understanding of the American working class except in an abstract, academic way, and they have no interest in finding out. The only lesson the Democrats have ever taken from working people is Obama’s observation about bitterly clinging to guns and religion, and Hillary’s comment about baskets of deplorables.
The whole thing was a set-up by the DNC. Trying to move more centrist, they chose the candidate who could be manipulated the most whether he lost or won. When it looked like his margins were large enough for him to be idiosyncratic, they had this woman waiting in the wings to try the same with another candidate.
The whole goal, the whole time, was to put the brakes on the commies taking over their Party.
None of this excludes any of Platner's behavior. But he was picked because of it, not despite it.
Daniel Friedman @DanFriedman81 · 10h I think the E. Jean Carroll rape allegation is ludicrous and fabricated.
I don’t believe anyone could rape someone in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman during business hours without anyone noticing.
I especially don’t believe Donald Trump, who was rich and famous and owns the skyscraper across the street, could walk into Bergdorf’s and be left alone. People in the store would recognize him and gawk. Sales staff would be paying close attention to him in case he needed something.
The idea that the store could be dead enough that the lingerie floor could be as empty as Carroll describes it and nonetheless a VIP like Trump could follow a woman into the dressing room and rape her, totally ignored by everyone, strains credulity.
The accusation also mirrors an episode of “Law and Order,” which Carroll has described as her favorite show.
I have no idea whether she is lying intentionally or if she is crazy and believes it happened, but it is not a credible accusation and when liberals pretend to believe it, it makes me more supportive of Trump.
I feel similarly about frequent claims that Trump is a “pedophile” based on the fact that he knew Jeffrey Epstein, who was a pedophile. There is no evidence that the girls who Epstein trafficked and raped were raped by anyone other than Epstein — the victims themselves do not allege this, and nobody has ever accused Trump of anything.
The claims against Platner, made by multiple women who dated him and representing a consistent pattern of behavior, is wildly different than the accusation by Carroll, which is a completely fantastical claim by someone who doesn’t even know Trump. Quote Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼 @Noahpinion · 10h The fact that Dems booted Platner over rape, but Republicans stuck with Trump despite rape, shows how the Dems still have some morals ("HR Lady politics") while the GOP are now just pure power-seekers. But the gap is narrowing.

He does? Why?
"Unfortunately for the Party, it has no role in stopping him."
Depends on what else they have on him. Also they might decide he needs to be prosecuted for rape. The process is the punishment.
According to my sources, a female oyster has come forward.
What is the point of primaries?
He got 70% of the vote. Democrats need to stop micro managing Democrat voters.
They said if I voted for Trump it would be the end of democracy.
After fraud is taken into account, how much is the vote real?
Since when is it up the DNC to decide who gets prosecuted for rape?

Sounds like God hasn’t been that helpful
God has been extremely helpful to me. I've been blessed.
you might get better results praying to Satan
You might need to hire a comic to write your material. Sad!
Worth a try!
"We have repeatedly reiterated to Graham Platner’s team that they have no role in determining our next Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate."
He's not being invited into the back room. I know those rooms used to be "smokey." Maybe they still are but with a different kind of smoke.
I'm making up a word here, but every attempt to re-masculate the Democratic party during the Trump era has ended badly.

I think the E.

The fact that Dems booted Platner over rape, but Republicans stuck with Trump despite rape, shows how the Dems still have some morals ("HR Lady politics") while the GOP are now just pure power-seekers. But the gap is narrowing.
