"You did it all with such grace and class and cool that you made the hardest job in the world look like a walk in this beautiful park."

Said Michelle Obama, as "Mr. Obama looked down and wiped away tears."

Biden was there too, bearing with unbearable sorrow:
@nbcnews Former President #Biden and former first lady Michelle Obama wipe their eyes during Jennifer Hudson's performance at the opening of the #Obama Presidential Center in #Chicago ♬ original sound - nbcnews

Bill Clinton was just chewing gum and smiling at the notion of marching into hell for a heavenly cause.

Here's a longer clip, with lots more of Jennifer Hudson:

And here's Stevie Wonder:

Is there a GD thing that Democrats touch that they don’t turn into a racket? Fleecing the taxpayer at every turn, looting the US Treasury, running Communists and Nazis as candidates.

They function as a continuing criminal enterprise… most likely the largest in the world.

From the article:
“Both Stephen Colbert, the former late-night host, and Martin Nesbitt, the board chair of the Obama Foundation, wore tan suits in a winking homage to Mr. Obama.”
I didn’t understand so I asked Perplexity:
“In 2014, Barack Obama wore a tan suit at a press conference about ISIS, and a chunk of conservative media treated it as a scandal, calling it unpresidential and inappropriate for the seriousness of the topic. Over time, this overreaction became a running joke and a symbol of how trivial some of the criticism of Obama was.”
Who knew?

The Who wanted Kubrick to direct Tommy but he passed so that thing they peed all over on the cover was supposed to resemble the monolith from 2001. I don't totally buy that story though.

I wonder what the plan is for paying the contractors. I hear millions are owed, tens and maybe hundreds. And if left unpayed, guess what, the taxpayers are on the hook, and not just in Chi-town, either. But I'm sure the perp walk-in-the-park will be easy, too.

It's probably too late to set up learing centers or hospices to rake in some of that sweet fraud money to help pay contractors, isn't it?

At 5:10 on the Stevie Wonder video, there is a short clip of the VIP's getting into the music. So awkward.

Bill Clinton always seems to be having fun. In this case, he seems to be staring at the Obama daughter with the bouncy breasts.

The person to the left of Bill looks like a hedge witch or dark elf, but is apparently Hillary.

You’re smart not to buy that story. Tommy as a movie wasn’t really a thing at that time. If Townshend was interested in Kubrick, it would have been for the Lifehouse project, which is where all the songs on Who’s Next came from. The band may have thought the concrete monolith on the Who’s Next cover was reminiscent of 2001, but pretending to piss on it (the liquid splashes are just water) was more a comment on the dystopia of the Lifehouse project.

Still one of the greatest albums ever made.

Yeah, and no mention of terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, with whom they spent eight years dining at their house several times a week -- in fact lied about it repeatedly, as did all the media and "fact checkers, especially Poynter Institute in Tampa and Anneberg at U Penn.

Maoist Criminals.

The basketball/ garden shit is bullshit too. Though I respect Michelle Obama for encouraging fat kids to eat better and exercise, and she is not a man, just a liar.

Obama went on a US apology tour early in his presidency. Now he's had to watch Trump reassert US dominance all over the world. Glad he’s alive to witness this.

Plus, Obama does not embody grace. Class and cool, maybe, but I’ve never seen him exhibit grace.

Tina Trent said...

Wilbur, the $12 for Jimmah's library doesn't include much in terms of history, nor many exhibits. Much about Billy Beer, and a great photo of Miss Lillian, but still. They're lazy, low-rent crap. There should be no admission prices for any presidential library. We own the presidency. He mostly used it to fellatio foreign, anti-Israel, anti-woman, anti-law enforcement projects. Including, ironically, also Berdardine Dohrn's team to eliminate school expulsions, even for those who sent their teachers to hospital. I tried to get into that conference as a victim advocate to balance the slate, and they laughed their heads off at me, even though I had dined more than once with Mrs. Carter, who was very dim, even though I had real police and child protection credentials. She loved the "order" of North Korea and was deeply implicated in a relationship with Jim Jones to keep federal ss money flowing to his cult. The story includes Pelosi, Willie Brown, but most of all, imiginary homophobia victim Harvey Milk, with whom mass murderer Jim Jones worked directly.

I'd love to see a museum display of that, including Rosalyn dancing with Jim Jones.

I really enjoyed seeing Stevie Wonder perform! Impressive.

And I enjoyed some of the other live acts *and the lack of autotune*. Great to see a bunch of instrumentalists with chops. It did my "daughter of two professional musicians' " heart good.

I didn't bother with the speechifying.

I still get a kick out of George W. Bush's amused expression.

Jennifer Hudson suffered horrible tragedies. She has a beautiful voice.

If The Democrats had not destroyed law enforcement, her family might still be alive. Still a lovely performance.

Autotune is an ongoing burr on my butt. Pretty much universally hate it. There are many things I admire and enjoy in Cher's career (singing and acting), but I probably will never, ever forgive her for "Believe." Ever. Started a nasty trend with which we are perpetually afflicted ever since.

And I will always prefer musicians playing real instruments. The flaws and quirks are a feature, not a bug.

via Flopping Aces:
"Europe just experienced one of the fastest religious conversions in political history.

For years they called basic border enforcement “fascism.” They called deportation “cruel.” They called any suggestion of returning people who had no right to be there “far-right extremism.” NGOs and center-left politicians treated the very idea of stopping the invasion like it was a moral crime. They cashed the checks, ran the programs, and lectured the rest of us about compassion while the flow continued.

Then something changed.

Voters started punishing them. The American money tap (that sweet USAID slush fund) got turned off. And suddenly the same people who spent a decade calling enforcement racist are passing the strictest migration law in EU history ... complete with return hubs in third countries, expanded detention powers, and home raids without warrants.

The same ministers who once clutched their pearls are now hugging each other on the parliament floor while chanting “send them back.”

It’s almost like none of it was ever about principle.

It was about cost. When open borders started costing them elections and free American money, the moral clarity arrived overnight. The “compassion” dried up the second it threatened their power and their funding. Everything before that? Just expensive theater paid for by someone else’s taxpayers...."

The park grounds and playground seem nice. The building isn't to my taste, but it's distinctive. Maybe in a hundred years it will be a landmark.....I don't think we should politicize architecture or, for that matter, wives. Obama has a successful marriage. So does Bush. Maybe even Clinton. Several of Trump's marriages were reasonably successful.......I won't be around for posterity, but it would be interesting to see how Trump's and Obama's buildings fare in a hundred years,.......Rockefeller had an "edifice complex", I think the judgement is pretty well settled that he wasn't very good at it.

Like Stevie sang, "Leaders keep on lying."

Unherd.com calls the library a "tombstone for Obamaism" (at first I read that as a tombstone for Obama) and says the "monstrous carbuncle" is as empty as Obama himself. It's been compared to a German flak tower. I see a bit of that Vehicle Assembly Building at Cape Canaveral in it. Interesting that the bookless library comes along when there is such an obsession with space and aliens.

The tan suit thing seems contrived -- manufactured, even. The "overkill" may have been among Obama's supporters than among critics. Stephen Colbert's tan suit is all over the media today. There's a much bigger buzz about it than there was for the supposed critics of Obama's suit a dozen years ago.
