The last sunrise of spring.

Write about whatever you like in the comments.

The summer solstice arrives here at 3:24 a.m. There's nothing really to go out and look at. One can only find the solstice in your mind. Perhaps there is a ritual to externalize whatever spiritual feeling you have about the solstice. There is the idea of arriving at one's sunrise vantage point early — sunrise isn't until 5:18 — but the sign says the place is closed after 10 at night and before 4 in the morning.

Here's another photo of the milkweed in the golden hour light.

Hey, c'mon, break the rules once and get out there at 3:24. If nothing else, you'll (hopefully) have a starry sky to record.

You're kidding, right?
The star field to the NE at that time is first rate. Take binoculars.

Great photos. What beauty - and what a contrast to the ugliness coming out of the 4th Reich - Israel. Here's israel's Ben Givri lastest tweet. In case, you don't know he's Israel's defense minister. And therefore no "crazy oddball".

"For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep. All of Lebanon must burn!

With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn. Our supreme duty is to protect the citizens of Israel and the soldiers of the IDF, and this commitment takes precedence over every other consideration.

I told the Prime Minister, even in our private meetings: For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep."

Reminds you of anything? Maybe it Himmler. "For every German Killled, 20 Poles must die".

Somehow the USA has gone from stopping Genocide in 1945 to supporting it in 2026. Oh well. You know Givri wrote it in Hebrew, so Jesus would've approved. Or least that's what Christian Zionists say.

That aside, its good to be back in the USA and enjoying spring.

It's feeling like summer here in Arizona already. I'm off to Ireland for 2 months in a few days to cool off. Do a bit of sailing, but mostly hang around my house and talk to no one. I'm bringing a Starlink Mini, so I'll still be online for work, but hopefully much less.

"For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep.”

The difference between the Germans and Pokes in 1939 (not 1945, you historical illiterate) and Hezbollah and the Israelis on 2026 is who started the fight, and who keeps it going. If the Lebanese want to live, all they have to do is stop killing Israelis. How hard can that be?

“ Sign, sign
Everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery
Breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that
Can't you read the sign?”

But don’t worry, the solstice looks like the same everywhere. It’s just a moment to remind us that from now on the days will get shorter and darker, and soon we’ll be in the frozen wasteland of winter again.

I've been watching the World Cup for the first time. It's not so bad. More fun than I thought it would be. Soccer was horrible when I was a kid. It's way more fun if you're betting money.

I got a free 5-day subscription from Fubo. And they were like, "We'll let you know 24 hours in advance before we charge your card." And then they sent me an e-mail, "We're charging your card on 6/20/2026 at 6:10." And it was 6:04 when they sent me the e-mail. They were like, "He can't cancel in 6 minutes." And I was like, "Bitch! Watch me." And I got on my computer and found their website and it took me five minutes to find the cancellation button because they hid it on the damn website. And I cancelled with one minute to go. I was like James Bond saving the world. Except I was cancelling my Fubo. That was more excitement than 70% of the soccer i saw.

I took a pic of the last sunset of spring here in SoCal. It’s fun to see how far north the sun is setting. I wish I could post my pic here in the comments. Happy summer, all!

The UK has a really good team. They haven't won the World Cup in six decades, but they might this year.

Their best player is a guy named Harry Kane, who looks like a prince of England. The one who ran away to marry a Hollywood starlet? Like they were separated at birth. I mean, they both got beards.

Soccer players jump up and down and celebrate when they make a goal. And Harry jumps up and down too, but it's more like a future King of England whose worried about his dignity when he does it. That is an unemotional soccer ace right there. That was a good game.

The USA has an ace, Christian somebody. He's already got a commercial. I think it's for a credit card, I don't remember. He's walking into a hotel, looking at the camera, that's all I remember. He does not have that TV magic.

Charles Barkley, I remember him. You know what I mean? I see Charles Barkley, I'm like, "What's in your wallet?" Not that I remember what bank uses that line. Capital One, maybe?

Anyway, Christian whoever walked into a hotel lobby, and I was like, "Hey, he plays soccer!" I think maybe he was wearing the uniform. Or the commercial told us who he was.

In the game I saw, he was on the bench because he pulled a hammy. But we won, anyway. The UK and the USA are rocking so far.

Argentina is the team to beat. They have the best player in the world, Lionel Messi. That was a great game. He pulled off a hat trick and scored three times. He celebrates like he's a soccer player from South America. I need to find an Argentinian bar and an Argentinian beer to drink.

If any of these teams win, I win $100. So let's pull for these teams, all right? France sucks, Spain sucks, and Portugal sucks. Let's get that ju-ju working for me.

I win $2,000 if Scotland wins. I bet $2. I got 1000 to 1 odds. The whole game I'm going, "Oh shit, I'm going to lose my $2,000!"

What was driving me crazy, they kept passing the ball in the wrong direction. I was like, "That's the wrong fucking direction!"

Now, everybody in soccer passes the ball backwards. It's like a thing in this sport. You got to get used to that. But with Scotland, it's like that's their entire game plan. "Let's go backwards." It was driving me up the wall. I think they lost 1-0. Which in soccer is a stressful, roller-coast ride of excitement. "Go forward! Pass the ball forward!" At least I wasn't wearing a kilt, that's what I have to say about that. $2 out the window. Also, I'm beginning to suspect that my $1 bet for Uzbeckistan is bad money.

Cape Verde embarrassed the shit out of Spain, holding them to a 0 to 0 tie. That's another big thing in soccer, the tie. Anyway, Cape Verde has been celebrating and flipping cars over in the street because they held Spain to a tie. Apparently their goalie saved the day like 36 times. I was like, "Holy shit." And I bet fifty cents on Cape Verde, just in case. That's another $1000 I'm not going to win. I might be exaggerating my non-winnings slightly. It's not like I'm tracking my Cape Verde bet.

I got a sweet 16. My phone is dead, let's see if I can remember them.

USA
UK
Argentina
Uruguay
Croatia
Uzbeckistan
Scotland
South Korea
Canada
Sweden
Switzerland
Ivory Coast
Australia
Ecuador
Panama
Cape Verde

I've already bailed on France, Norway, Japan, Germany, and Mexico. Basically all the bad guys in World War 2. I'd bail on Italy but they didn't make the tournament. I've bailed on Columbia. I'd love to bail on Ecuador but nobody is buying Ecuador right now.

Me too. I was watching and it looked pretty interesting, except there were a bunch of guys running around randomly and pointlessly and distracting my attention from the grass. I wish they would go away and let me contemplate the growing grass. At least it’s accomplishing something.

…and what Fauci said when he said it supports my tight tin foil hat claim the virus was deliberately introduced, in an election year, in order to introduce and enforce relaxed voting safeguards. I still believe it. When you’re highly confident you will forever control the government you never worry about being caught…who is going to catch you? ….and most disturbing, who is going to believe you when you do catch them?

rehajm said...

…what makes my skin crawl is Fauci at the baseball game, inhaling nachos, the tv announcers gushing, like he was a deity or a pope just taking in the game from carefully selected seats- not good enough to evoke claims of elitism, conspicuous enough for the cameras to capture him, no fans around to produce an unwanted boo or middle finger…just a sick and creepy evil scientist relaxing and taking in a game…

rehajm said...

…keep in mind the first order of business in 2019 was the ‘For the People Act’, which mandated mail in voting, relaxed verification requirements, ensured racial gerrymandering requirements, introduced rules to facilitate laundering and funneling money, especially money stolen from other government programs into Democrat coffers. It was their number one priority, HR1…

A while back I predicted the scale of the Medicare and Medicaid. Fraud would surpass $200B, at which scoffing was directed by the usual commenters who are often wrong but never in doubt about current events. Yes, FF too. Well the MN portion alone is now nosing past $9B with both OH and ME poised to challenge that total. Before we even roll up the biggest offenders among the states like CA,FL and NY.

For now it’s just a reminder that i called this shot early. Just like in 2020 I had declared C-19 akin to “bad flu year” in total damage by April. Right here in comments. The excess deaths can be directly attributed to the anti-scientific reactions and stupid recommendations of the Public Health “experts.” If they had treated the virus like a bad flu many more would have survived.

how many people died from the flu in 2020? Given the gun to their heads economic incentives to claim every death a covid death how will we ever know? It’s not like everyone kept two sets of statistics. It also disturbing medicine doesn’t complain much about the lost data…

rehajm said...

…Administration experts claimed the US budget would be balanced if entitlements were allocated only to those who were entitled to receive them. I believe that, too…I have to go Blogger is on to me…

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

LOL officially ZERO deaths from “flu” in 2020. But “excess deaths” are very easily ascertained and the saddest part is the cancers undiscovered because of lockdowns and then the explosion of formerly rare cancers among the vaccinated, as well as heart damage and huge blood clots that baffled health professionals.

Breezy said...

From Grok,

Reported confirmed COVID-19 deaths worldwide are approximately 7.1 million as of mid-2026.
Excess mortality estimates (which capture direct COVID deaths plus indirect effects like overwhelmed healthcare systems) for the peak pandemic years (2020–2021) range from about 14.9 million (WHO) to 18.2 million (IHME/Lancet models).

Fauci is quite literally personally involved in one of the worst worldwide human catastrophes ever. There’s no way a blanket pardon by a dementia riddled president’s team using auto pen should spare him.

Humperdink said...

Yep watching The Fauc at the baseball game without mask made my blood boil. Same as our Gov. Wolf marching arm-in-arm BLM protesters during the height of Covid and his “no crowds” ban. I wanted to personally arrest him.

Leland said...

I'm guessing the ICC won't care about the evidence against Fauci, which is why they should be ignored on other issues.

john mosby said...

The pardon only protects Fauci from federal criminal prosecution. States might be able to prosecute him successfully - after all, if a state can prosecute an ICE officer for shooting a perp, then a state can prosecute a CDC official for killing millions.

But that's debatable. What's not debatable is that a POTUS pardon doesn't protect you from any other country's justice system. Maybe PM Farage would arrest Fauci under English common law. Or a Le Pen administration could bring back the guillotine for him.

Even better, make an under the table deal to extradite him to Red China in exchange for each government never blaming the other for the pandemic. Just a rogue out of control official behind it all. Case closed. 1 yuan for the bullet, charged to his next of kin. CC, JSM

In Florida, the illegals work about 6-8 weeks a year planting, watering, and picking crops. One anchor baby gets them housing, utilities, medical and food stamps for the entire household. They do not pay taxes: that's bullshit. They spend the rest of the time driving from food bank to food bank, then selling the free food at flea markets, gangbanging, selling drugs, stealing, and doing odd jobs for cash -- but only if necassary.

They're all scum.

They should just make the entire World Cup tournament knockout matches start to finish, FA cup style. That way every game would count and you’d get some real shocks. Imagine if Spain -- Cape Verde had gone to penalties and Spain lost.

Tina Trent said...

Viz Medicare and Medicare fraud, in Florida, it's the worst in the nation. Miami-area fraud is far more than you estimate.

They have one scheme where they find impoverished rural hospitals and have them send court-ordered weekly urine and blood tests for junkies for them to do - at $1200 or $2200 a pop, instead of a few bucks, with kickbacks to the hospitals. My husband represented a whistleblower on one of these cases. The hospital had to close, leaving thousands of farming-dispersed families without emergency or accessible hospital care. It's happening everywhere, thanks to mafia medical providers and illegal thugs from Mexico and South America.

Tina Trent said...

Again, read the very interesting book including damning and humiliating stuff on Fauci from the '80's: The Gravest Show on Earth.

He did exactly the same thing to AIDS patients. But he pretend to be their advocate, condemned Reagan, hobnobbed with their sleazy, well-paid professional activists, called us prejudiced, and so was there to kill our elders from Covid while lying about his role in it.

Lynching isn't good enough for him.

Tina Trent said...

Sorry, Mike, I meant $300 billion.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

That's what I assumed. The scale matches exactly what the GAO has been saying since the early 80s, estimating between a quarter and half of all CMM payments are fraudulent. That makes it easier to calculate when the Feds pass actual annual budget estimates.
