Just surfing the net and saw a video of Orson Welles in 1982, calling Kazan a "traitor" for testifying in front of HUAC in 1951. Good Lord, Welles still seemed angry about it. "Kazan sold out his friends to McCarthy, even when he could have defied the committee and worked on Broadway at a high salary."
Welles, of course, got all this 2nd hand. He'd left the USA in 1947, and didn't return again till 1955. People have more or less overlooked what a communist sympathizer Welles was in the 30s and 40s.
But he's typical of the Hollyweird attitude. Mccarthy was their enemy and the most evil man ever. Not Joe stalin. He was "uncle joe".
Welles seemed to have lost weight in 1982, not at his fattest, 350 lbs. Of course, he'd gain a lot of it back before he died of heart attack in 1985. Between the booze, the weight, the cigars and the wine, its a miracle he made it to 70.
Congratulations, Jamie, keep it up ! Losing weight is hard to do when you eat out a lot. We do so infrequently, and I almost always end up carrying something home.
Yeah, the other side of the wind. I forgot whether it a DVD or something on the net, but I saw fairly long clips from it. It had its moments, but it was no masterpiece to say the least.
Sam Goldwyn put his finger on Welles' problem back in the 50s. "Orson needs a co-writer". But the Welles could never admit that. After 1946, he only wanted to direct films that he wrote, and had almost complete control over.
He also had a weird attraction to the dark and tragic. Which is exactly what the average film goer in the 40s 50s and 60s didn't want. No wonder "The Suits" didn't want any part of him.
So, I see now that Spencer Pratt's seemingly-comfortable second place result has been whittled gradually at first, then suddenly. The pollsters are now pronouncing him third.

Isn't it funny how all of these kinds of programs are based on ensuring that the appearance of impropriety is something to be avoided? Considerable training effort was put in place to codify this as a standard behavior set.
And yet, in modern politics, this ethos has long been discarded. Impropriety reigns, and when it's noted, we get the 'without evidence' belligerence.
Yesterday Spencer Pratt was in a good place. Today, the tide went out, and then it came in. No shame, at least none that could pass an audit.

Pundits are saying Trump will be a big distraction at the Knicks game but no one is saying the same about Mamdoni being at the game.
And they never said shit when Obama showed up at games ... be it the NCAA tournament, an aircraft carrier or unintentionally throwing an Eephus pitch at MLB games.
Trump admin will do nothing about voter fraud, or illegals. Congress will do nothing. when you import 10 million new voters, you don't need to worry anymore. Hence NYC. New York state just passed a moratorium on new data center construction. They've added additional obstacles relating to power consumption, environmental studies, requirements for non-carbon-based energy supplies, so on. This, on top of a decade of NIMBYism and refusals to allow gas and oil pipeline construction to proceed to meet existing demands.
I'm starting to wonder if we're seeing the advent of a new wave of economic decline. In the 80's, it was shipping of heavy industrial manufacturing demand to overseas suppliers that resulted in the Rust Belt phenomenon, something that the Midwest still struggles with today, something that still has an effect on the US economy.
New York state, and in particular New York City, is seeing economic flight of corporations and wealthy taxpayers. Now they are throttling modern expansion, making it difficult to justify business investment.
Will the breakneck pace of the digital A.I. age place them at a disadvantage on a scale that make recovery impossible, as new centers of power establish themselves in regions that encourage growth?
What would be a good name for this modern rust belt-like phenomenon? It is taking shape in the Northeast - Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, so forth, and the Pacific seaboard states, California, Seattle, Washington.
Aggie: So, according to Doug Wilson at Blog and Mablag, the adage goes this way. You can vote your way into socialism, but you are going to have to shoot your way out. So take your religious charity funds and buy more guns and ammo.
Sadly, for Doug and all his MAGA Christianity friends, all Kamala Harris did was pretend to be Biden's Border Czar. But she was never put in charge of the border or immigration policy. Nor was she involved in overseeing law-enforcement efforts or guiding the federal response to the crisis. Her mandate was much narrower: to focus on examining and improving the underlying conditions in the Northern Triangle of Central America—El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras—which has been racked by decades of poverty, war, chronic violence, and political instability. The strategy relied on allocating billions for economic programs and stimulating private-sector investment in the region in hopes that these programs would ultimately lead to fewer migrants making the dangerous journey north.
In Trump's first year, 2.5 million illegal immigrants left the country. 600,000 were deported by police, and 1.9 million voluntarily self-deported. The cost of the latter? A $1,000 check and a free flight home.
Trump's illegal immigration policies have been wildly successful.
Fugitive Caesar @ThomBrady5 · 6h Let me know when a journalist even once interviewed Obama like this Quote Alex Cole @acnewsitics · 13h Obama never ran away in the middle of an interview.
That's an insane level of people coming here illegally, creating an underground class of non-citizens. It was a real clusterfuck. Over 30 years, presidents of both parties did nothing to stop it. Trump was the first president to actually protect the border, and the first to decrease the number of illegal immigrants who are already here. 2 million went home in his first year.
(Note also how much more successful Trump's second term was compared to his first term).
And the media is giving him zero credit for any of this. They are hiding the numbers as much as they can. But, seriously, who would vote for failure and billion dollar welfare payouts to all the countries in South and Central America?
In 2024, California had an increase of 232,000 people. Almost all of that number was due to illegal immigration. And we know that's the case, because in 2025?
My assumption is that all of these mail-in votes that came in for the socialist in the last minute? Came from illegal immigrants, voting by mail, fraudulently. I believe your vote totals like I believe your border controls.
Welker, like Freder, was obsessed with the IRS settlement fund. She of course never criticized larger hinkier collusive settlements by Obama, suits the DOJ had won on the merits but Obama ordered payouts anyway. $3.5B to the LOSERS suing the government and $100M for the leftist lawyers representing them. For a case won by the DOJ.
Trump issued an EO forbidding sue and settle scams but Biden reversed it. Perhaps the Weaponization Fund was intended by Trump to get the lazy Congress to pass a law banning collusive settlements. Same way he just got the RINOs to side with democrats last week and put a stake through FISA.
It's kind of like the Asian street gangs who raped 1,400 white children in Rotherham.
Awful. Shocking.
There's a common theme here, for liberal fuckwits: you establish a racist system of policing. You indoctrinate officers to be PC and to be terrified of losing their jobs at any accusation of racism. So they bend over backwards to not see any crimes committed by black or brown people.
And then you're "shocked" when child rapists go free and murder victims are handcuffed for having the wrong skin color.
Racist policing is an abomination. It leads to riots, you dumb fuck. These are hate crimes committed by the state.
The vast majority of my neighbors are transient illegals. Poultry Country. I pay their medical bills, so I can't pay my medical bills. And while most are decent, as far as that goes, the others bring their culture of raping very young girl children, viz our nation's morality, which we can pretend to debate, but I've seen too many impregnated 11-year-olds to be as cavalier as those in special blue states who don't have to witness the girls' faces. And it doesn't start at 11: that's just when their menses start.
Enjoy your cheap rotissery chicken. An 11-year old rape victim in every pot, as it were.
"We kneel with all those opposing anti-Black racism."
He picks his favorite people and swears to protect them. Raped white girls? Sorry about that. Police handcuffed a white boy that's been stabbed? Oops. Shocking. No idea why that happened.
You're a racist, your government is racist, and your police is racist.
Why is racism against white people okay, Starmer? At what point does racist violence upset you and cause you to rethink your fucking race-based laws and policing?
So tell me, Althouse, are you going to write another vapid post along the lines of the one you wrote after the 2020 election, explaining how we should all accept the results of the Los Angeles election for the sake of “our democracy” (meaning a left-wing pseudo-democracy based on fraud)? Or is this episode a bit too obvious for even you to stomach?
This New York Post article discusses the LA vote. At the link, you’ll see pictures of the vote processing center, that is supposed to make you believe they are diligent in safe guarding the vote.
Tell me “they are not corrupt”, then explain the column in the middle of the room with 4 lighted Exit signs in all directions.
As I look back at Charlie Kirk’s murder, I remain stunned the Commies in the U.S. are still celebrating it. What did Charlie do to earn such wrath? He earnestly debated all comers by defending his Christian faith. His strident opponents couldn’t deal with it. Spiritually deceived. Some might say demonic. How else to describe it?
The purpose of the Trans stuff to force people to mouth obvious lies like "A man with a dick is a woman if she wants to be" was to get people to say "There is no voter fraud" when it is right in front of them plain as day.
Winning right now in LA is actually the worst possible outcome for leftists because no houses will be rebuilt, no homeless taken off streets and no better governance in four years. A new crisis will arise as they do and Bass/Raman will fail to meet the moment as Bass and Newsom have done as SOP.
And there will be no one for the Left to blame. Trump will be out of office. Pratt will be tanned rested and ready but still homeless. I’m looking forward to it.
The run-up to the February 28 commencement of the war was probably the highpoint of Israeli influence with the US government; it will never be so credible again.
The US-Israeli attack on Iran has destabilized the entire world economy and immense costs are compounding daily and later in the year severe food scarcity will hit. The pervasiveness of the cumulative negative consequences has yet to be fully felt. It will. The American public can ask: all this for Greater Israel?
Supposedly Trump supported the February 28 attack based on Netanyahu's urgings. But Trump had been strongly, possibly decisively, influenced by pro-Israel billionaires closely aligned with Israeli expansionism. This close association of US domestic politics with a catastrophically failing foreign policy is likely to get monumental scrutiny in the future. Great harm has been done to American standing in the world community. There must be a reckoning. Just who bought what?
America has greatly weakened all of its traditional alliances and relationships with the other democracies. For what? A cesspool in the Middle East?
One has little idea how the Israeli election is going to turn out. But most likely future American elections are going to signal large course changes.
Israel has way over-reached here. The Republican hawks have gone at least one war too far.

Democrats wanted a little more time before they rubbed our faces in the voter fraud like this.
They will still claim there is "no pruf of voter frod."
They are just really stupid people. It is over for them.
Hes a Christian
They are demons next question
The purpose of the Trans stuff to force people to mouth obvious lies like "A man with a dick is a woman if she wants to be" was to get people to say "There is no voter fraud" when it is right in front of them plain as day.
I think vaclav havel said it best : not to the particulars
Winning right now in LA is actually the worst possible outcome for leftists because no houses will be rebuilt, no homeless taken off streets and no better governance in four years. A new crisis will arise as they do and Bass/Raman will fail to meet the moment as Bass and Newsom have done as SOP.
And there will be no one for the Left to blame. Trump will be out of office. Pratt will be tanned rested and ready but still homeless. I’m looking forward to it.
Hump @ 6:10, that lone actor explanation just isn’t satisfying, is it?
But then, tribal politics does encourage collective guilt.
