"Experts said that the decision would immediately cut into one of the Democratic Party’s critical financial advantages in television advertising."

"That’s because federal law requires that television broadcasters give political candidates low advertising rates, but extends no such requirement to super PACs, which are often charged double, triple and even four times as much for the same television time. Republicans in recent election cycles have been more reliant on super PACs and national party committees than Democrats, whose candidates have tended to out raise Republicans and who therefore often have been able to take advantage of the lower television ad rates. Allowing unlimited coordinated spending between candidates and parties would essentially permit both to take advantage of the lower rates...."

Now, let's open up our little deposit books and compare the numbers, shall we?

…when the money sloshes from Treasury to NGO to other NGO to candidate…somehow, what’s the difference for Democrats?

Despite sometimes outspending opponents by many multiples and still losing they still pretend to believe money buys elections.

The left built quite the system for moving money around. The actblue slush fund as the collection and distribution vehicle for small donations real and fake…now that it’s more legal… I guess that’s the advantage they’re talking about…

Old people watch the broadcast networks. The rest of us pay not to watch ads

Campaign finance laws are ignored. Foreigners helped fund Obama’s campaign. After that, no one has cared.

No one can tell if it’s a candidate, a party, or a PAC who is running the ads.

The ads are run at the roughly 10% of voters who might vote either way. They don’t pay attention until five minutes before Election Day.

in a more perfect world;
ALL campaign ads would have to pay FULL PRICE;
come to think of it: in a MOST Perfect world;
ALL Campaign ads would be banned

The consistent result of these decisions is that there are three justices who want to create through judicial decree a truly frightening America. That is three too many.

The Supreme Court is a very broken institution in a capital city experiencing near-total vitiation of its democratic operating principles. Money in today's Washington is a form of pervasive cancer.

I'm really curious about the effectiveness of television advertising in the current environment. I haven't watched a commercial on television in at least a decade with the exception of sitting in doctors' waiting rooms. I do look at candidate websites and things that people are retweeting.

i Guess THIS is The Day for people to agree with IEE!
those "three justices" (Jaskson, Soto and Kegan) really truly DO want to "create through judicial decree a truly frightening America". I have to give credit where credit is due;
and IEE has NAILED this one on the head!

Jesus, Rich. You're such a little pussy.

This will be a windfall for TV broadcasters. If PACs were paying quadruple rates before, they'll be paying octuple and nonuple rates now.

Good because every “campaign finance law” is written to be a restriction on Republican candidates and an advantage to Democrats. Why? Because the mislabeled “non-partisan” third parties have always been unrestricted and of course the corporate media is always pushing leftist candidates. Fox is absolutely enthralled with the DSA candidates and is unwatchable unless you enjoy listening to commies uptalk all day, every hour day after day.

…political buys are a wealth transfer scheme. Everything else a TV station does is a loss leader…

Read this as: Democrats found a way to funnel huge donations from Bloomberg, Soros, Gates, and others through "small donor gift cards." So, the superficially "outraise" Republicans.

And, Joe Biden got 81M votes by campaigning from his basement wearing a mask.

Mr. Dooley, the turn of the last century newspaper sage, commented on the controversy over whether the inhabitants of America's new imperial possessions would have constitutional rights and protections: "No matter whether th' Constitution follows the flag or not, th' Supreme Court follows th' election returns." Eventually, if the DSA gets its way the court may switch sides and then we are in for a world of hurt [Bonus points for tying together the Supreme Court, citizenship and the communist young in one comment].
