Are photos on this blog displaying the wrong way for you?

Are you, like me, seeing some of the photos sometimes display as if they were enlarged behind the frame of the blog and only showing one quarter of the image? You could click on that image and get the whole thing, but only a stupid corner is showing on the blog?

Maybe it's only a problem for me, but I've spent a lot of time trying to fix it at the code level, using Grok, and I've only gotten as far as to understand that Flickr has introduced some new incompatibility with old Blogger templates like the one I've been using for 20+ years.

One solution is to switch to a new Blogger template, but I'm so used to seeing this template that subjectively the newer templates all look wrong to me. If I try to be objective, they still look bad — cluttered, stupid, tricked out. Ugh!

I rarely click through but did at this prompt. Yes, the overnight overcast photo was only showing the right half (?) or so of the photo as presented by Flickr. But the embedded X images appear correct.

I tried in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and all looked correct to me. I'm using a Windows laptop.

Nothing has changed for me about the photo displays.

No.

Blogger's performance changes per the browser and remote pass-through security settings. Sometimes I see nothing, sometimes it works fine. Sometimes I can see it but not click through. I generally don't bother to diagnose/change it.

My answer might be iPhone specific based on other people’s experience.

Using Safari on a Mac and everything is fine.

Android phone OK, as is any combination of browsers (Edge, Chrome) and laptops (Chromebook, Windows 10/11).

All looks OK. And may I say 'thank you' for the efforts that go into keeping your blog going, they are much appreciated - even the nuts & bolts stuff like this.

Photo presents properly in the post when viewed on my Samsung tablet. Hmmm.

It’s fine now on iPhone too. Maybe my first impression was wrong.

I'm using a Mac desktop, and for me the problem comes and goes.

I'm not having any issues. Have you tried different browsers? I'm using Brave, which is Chrome based.

iPad Pro here. No problems.

Everything looks fine on my fire tablet also, even though it is using that crappy browser that comes with a Fire.

Ron Winkleheimer said...

Firefox looks fine in Windows 11 also.

I use Brave (a Chromium derivative) on Windows, Linux, and Android and I haven't noticed any problems.

The only problematic one is the top post using the Trump Truth Social screenshot.

I have not seen that issue though I rarely click through on the cafe and open thread photos, or videos. Usually browse here with Chrome on Windows 11, or Chrome on Android.

About the only photo/video link anomaly I see regularly is the preview of a video link will be from a video posted earlier but that usually goes away on its own.

Not that problem, but for a long while the font has been very small on my phone browser (Brave) and doesnt wrap if I try to enlarge. After a long time trying fixes I figured it was a blogger issue. Making it very hard to read this blog on my phone

Looks the same as ever on my phone (Android).

This is collusion between two or more app providers. like blogger and Flickr. Blogger wants to do an upgrade but nobody like it. Flickr accommodates them by upgrading their product to be adaptable to the new Blogger, but not to the older versions - like they used to do. Now they both want a fresh start and you’re stuck. This just happened to me with my banking app - my iPhone no longer supported the older version of the iPhone and iPhone wasn’t updating my phone’s iOS. So I either had to use the web site or buy a new phone. I bought the phone.

Truth Social doesn't embed properly. Ordinarily I don't even try. I look for the same thing on X or I make a screen grab. This one I really wanted. I tweaked the code (using Grok) and I think it's okay now except that the video doesn't play in the embed. You get sent to the Truth Social page

1: I like your current template. I hope you can keep it
2: I'm not seeing the picture problem you describe

I am not experiencing the photo issue. I use Windows on a Surface. I also like your current blog template. Wouldn't change it.

No problem on my Windows desktop, or my IPad.

Looks fine to me - macOS with Safari. Looks fine on my iPhone and iPad too.

I like the current template. Very clean, uncluttered. and fast.
Also, by now, very traditional.

All good. Chrome, Brave, and a locked down (NoScript) add blocked Firefox on Win 11

The Trump Social post is all screwy.

There were several Microsoft updates yesterday. For whatever that's worth.

Thanks for the feedback

No problem with Firefox on Windows or even Silk on Kindle Fire (frequently a source of issues!) Blogger/Flickr has issues with high aspect ratio photos; I put extra whitespace around the photos narrow edges to overcome this problem.

Great work with your photos and template. Keep fighting the evil forces that change their tools without talking to their users!

No problem with the Opera browser. Thanks, Ann.

I haven't noticed any display issues using the current versions of Safari and Opera on the latest version of macOS Sequoia 15.7.7.
