"A Terrible Thing Happened to My Family," writes Pete Buttigieg.

At Substack.

I don't think he's accusing Child Protective Services or the police of handling the complaint improperly. Should they have done anything differently? Read the essay carefully and tell me what you think. I believe the answer is no.
The police officer, the CPS professional, and the forensic interviewers who spoke to my children were just following procedure and doing their jobs - admirable jobs that must be incredibly difficult every day, protecting the most vulnerable children from the most horrible threats....

The "terrible thing" was not done by the authorities but only by the anonymous person who made a complaint against him.

Even though the accusation was absurdly and obviously false, and was promptly rejected by law enforcement, I still worry... about how anyone, even in today’s world, could fail to respect the absolutely fundamental principle that whatever you think about someone in politics, you leave people’s kids out of it.

No matter how well-recognized a principle is, there are always transgressors. There's always some outlier person who's going to go ahead and do the forbidden thing. There's some value in expressing outrage, but to express outrage is to tell people how to be outrageous.

Who thinks letting 2 Gay men adopt kids is a good thing? I'm sure Buttigig and his "Wife" aren't abusing the kids, but how many Gay couples are?

I can't think of a more unnatural enviroment for a kid. No mother. And one of the men has no biological connection (assuming one paid for woman to have the kid). And if the kids a boy, what's goin' happen when he gets to 14? One can imagine.

OTOH, there's nothing to prevent someone who doesn't like Buttigig from calling CPS and making a false accusation. And once its out there, his political opponents can make hay out of it. Doesn't matter if its false, the damage has been done.

Podcaster Tim Pool has been SWATTED. Numerous times. Once while on-air, live.
Austin Metcalf’s parents have been SWATTED. Numerous times.
Politicians have been SWATTED: MTG, Sen. Rick Scott, Sen. Tommy Tuberville.

But, now, because Pete’s a Dem, it’s news?

The media always lies. Lies of omission, lies of commission, lies of definition.

I think people that call these fake SWATs in should be tried for attempted murder. If more politicians would suggest the same and DA's follow through on prosecutions; then I suspect the prevalence of these events would decrease. Alas, it is more often used by the left on the right, so I won't expect progressives to punish their foot soldiers.

There have been a few high profile cases where gay couples severely abused their kids. Could this be the source of the complaint?

Did Petey take the opportunity to condemn numerous swattings of those on the right? That puts kids in much more danger than his were.

Why are people using this agency so much? Teachers, nurses and other service providers just casually accuse people of child abuse or neglect?

And, I didn't know this, but half (!!!) of Black children can expect a CPS investigation at some point during childhood. No way on earth are 50% of Black children beaten or sexually abused or any of that stuff. So what the heck is going on?

Joe Bar said...

There should be severe punishment for people that instigate these type of actions. I hope the women gets what she deserves.

I am annoyed by people online calling this "swatting". It was manipulation of a bureaucracy, not an attempt to use police for violence.

Based on posts I see on reddit (I know, I know), I don't think this is uncommon. Divorced couples, toxic in-laws, crazy neighbors are among the ones people accuse of filing false reports.

It's annoying for the person who has had a false report against them, but the real injury is to the kids CPS won't have time for because they have to check into every report, even ones that seem to be based on a thing someone may have heard years and years ago.

Jupiter said...

"The "terrible thing" was not done by the authorities but only by the anonymous person who made a complaint against him."

Boy, have you got this one wrong.
In the first place, they're not his kids. They're someone else's kids. He bought them so he and his boyfriend could cosplay as functional human beings.
In the second place, if we grant, for purposes of argument, that he is the parent of the children he purchased from the trafficker, then the government's claim to sequester and interrogate his children with no more probable cause than an anonymous accusation from a complete stranger is an evident violation of numerous Constitutional rights. I would think even a law professor could figure that out.

CPS is wildly out of control, everywhere in the US. Somehow, they manage to work full-time, and earn a good living, without ever encountering any of the hundreds of thousands of minor children that the Biden regime allowed traffickers to bring into the US. But they do manage, between coffee breaks, to harass lots of innocent people at the behest of the perverts in the Teachers' unions.

Pete has always got to play the gay victim. That’s his lane in politics. Why else publicize this event?

He was - without a doubt - the worst Secretary of Transportation ever. And certainly the worst Cabinet Secretary under Biden. He didn’t build out his EV charging station network. He didn’t upgrade the computer hardware and software at airports that was desperately needed. People have died because of his incompetence.

I challenge anyone to point out one single notable accomplishment.

He’s running for POTUS but can’t win. He has zero support from Blacks.

He’s running to make money. He’s grifting somehow. Maybe he gets an allowance from rich gays.

Shouting Thomas, I just noticed your comment. I don't agree with you. I've had tons and tons of tenants with nontraditional family structures. The worst ones? The lesbians. Their relationships are violent, mean and unstable. Next up? Single mothers. Then the single dads. Then the gay dads in a committed relationships. Finally, the best ones, are the normals in normal heterosexual relationships.

But, honestly, the gay men are champs with nice, well adjusted kids. Hard to believe but it is the truth.

If you think about it, this is baked right into the CPS cake. Why is it, that the Childrens' Protective Services never protect any of the trafficked "immigrant" children, but spend most of their "working" hours harassing innocent parents? It's because that is what they are set up to do. They don't roam the streets, looking for abused children. They sit on their asses and wait for allegations from people with an axe to grind. And then they go all out grinding those axes for them.

Kevin said...

In the first place, they're not his kids.

You will find out even your biological kids are state property when push comes to shove. Take your child to an emergency room for, say, asthma and try to leave without doing everything the doctor recommends.

Should you do so, they are bound by law to inform Child Protective Services. And even if you're eventually cleared, that incident stays in the state's database forever.

I remember this. CPS has caused so much harm. I know of 3 cases. 2 brought on by ex wives with zero justification. One ended with the dad simply not having any contact with his daughters because he was worried about the court fights ahead (the allegations concerned his mother). In another case the parents fought but it was a long process, ultimately resolved in the parents favor and I was surprised they survived it as well as they did. The third case the parents lost custody of their children for several months. I lost contact with them so I don’t know how that turned out.

Robert Reed had a good role in Rich man Poor man too. He's the rich ladies man who lives in a mansion outside of town. He introduces a hot Susan Blakely to sex. Later she marries Eddies father, and Bill Bixley turns out to be a dud. Finally, she ends up as an unhappy drunk beause she's married to boring Peter Strauss. Anyone who thinks acting was better in the 70s should go watch Strauss in action.

She should've hooked up with Nick Nolte at the beginning but then there'd be no story.

Aggie said...

I agree with Left Bank: There was an insufficient basis for kicking off an investigation that separated the children from their responsible adult. I think there should have been conversations with these two men to establish whether there was any credibility to the accusation (and it appears there wasn't), and that should have been the end of it.

Second, there should be a critical review of how such accusations are lodged. Something that has such potency to ruin someone, should not be taken at face value when the accuser refuses to identify themselves. That in itself should throw up red flags.

RCOCEAN II said...

Buttigig should get out of politics and try to get a TV sitcom. Two guys and a baby. Is Norman Lear still alive? He could produce it. But instead the wacky Gay neighbor, they'd need a grumpy homophobe neighbor who is constantly being wrong.

Even worse, the definition of anti-semitism has been changed due to powerful Jewish pressure so the DOJ will now investigate if a Coffee Shop doesn't like Israelis. Racism is just as bad. Basically, a black person can punch you and claim you called him the "n word" and get off.

Two days later I received a phone call from CPS. The teacher, who was OF COURSE a "mandatory reporter", had filed a report about that conversation. I related the above to the CPS person, who said my story matched the reported story, and that there would probably not be any further action.

The person who did the reporting was reporting something that they said they had heard, third hand, from someone else. Plus, they remained anonymous. CPS is damned if they do and damned if they don't, which explains the 100% annual turnover. The limited things they are alliwed to count as danger to a child is absurd. Both parents can be smoking crack, but so long as they're not doing it in front of the children, according to them, it is generally not enough cause for removing the children from the household.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Pete or his husband were the caller. It gets him back in the news, a chance to remind people he’s a “dad,” and a chance to express moral outrage.

what was perpetrated on Pete and his family was much less dangerous than swatting.

Says you. I'd rather kill or die than have my kid stolen from me due to false allegations.
