"The United States and Iran have agreed in principle to a deal that would wind down the war in the Middle East by reopening the Strait of Hormuz and by committing Iran..."
"... to dispose of its highly enriched uranium, a senior U.S. official told reporters on Sunday.... News of a possible deal came after a roller-coaster few weeks, with Mr. Trump at times threatening to restart attacks on Iran, and at others saying there was progress in last-ditch negotiations to stave off a return to full-scale war — all while offering few details. Then, on Saturday, the president announced on social media that the two countries had 'largely negotiated' a memorandum of understanding 'pertaining to PEACE.' On Sunday, however, he said he had ordered his negotiators 'not to rush into a deal.'..."

Democrats hardest hit…
Word is that Iran is already claiming there is no deal and now they won't give up controlling the Strait. I'm sure they are being coached by various marxist that hate the West. Constantly claim control of the Strait, something they neither had before the war nor international law to do; blame Trump for raising the cost of the Strait, despite Iran attacking every one of their neighbors in the Gulf and particularly in the Strait; and keep this going until western economies, unable and unwilling to defend freedom of navigation, fail.

You mean the democrats and the democrat media is claiming there is no deal and Lloyds of London wont give up controlling the Strait.
The usual BS from the leftist press. Has the administration announced a deal? has it been signed? Published?
No to all the above. Just fodder for idiots to tweet about, as long as it is anti Trump, anti American.
Trump always confuses the left. Remember Venezuela? Or is that too long ago for the NYT to remember the thousands of words they and others vomited before they actually knew anything. complete BS
If Salena Zito writes its a done deal, I'm interested. The rest of the 'journalists', both right and left , could care less about facts, they want clicks.
I want regime change.
democrats have a natural alliance with nazi Islamic supremacist theocratics.
Unfortunately, I fear this is more of the same mistake we have been making since VJ Day. If you go to war, you need total surrender from the enemy. Otherwise you don't solve the problem that created the need for war. If we knew we had to go for total victory and their total surrender, then maybe we wouldn't go to war so easily.
Still, the situation is far improved by this war, just not fixed. What will happen to the Iranian people? This was a rare opportunity where the enemy was only a small fraction of the population, and the rest welcomed our intervention. You DON'T get that very often.
"Iran is already claiming there is no deal"
Who speaks for Iran? Is anybody actually in charge?

Iran, China and Russia surrendered long ago.
The Iran war will not end until we force the Democrat Party to total surrender.
China is buying oil with US Dollars.
Everything else is just chafe, though the 200 planes from Boeing is nice personally.
The United States won and Democrats lost. Europe can get fucked.
China Russia and the US can now move along their own individual Nationalist path doing business in US dollars with the Eurotrash in their proper place.
Aborting terrorist forcings, sequestering when necessary, and cannibalizing when possible, Obama's Iran-Hamas Affair will, in principle, and in practice, normalize the viability of people in Israel, Iran, Gaza Strip, and others in the region and around the world. I wonder if we will return to Afghanistan and sift Biden's decaffeinated grounds.
I've concluded that Iran is "run" by factions who don't communicate with each other. Some are do-or-die zealots and some would capitulate and get on with life. Others hate the government but don't have the military ability to fight back.
So, the region will likely have an ongoing terrorism and low-grade combat for a very long time (which isn't actually a change). The big Gulf powers are not going to tolerate a Hormuz shutdown for long -- they are already working around with pipelines. If adequate pipelines are in place no one will care about Iran's government.
In the end, I don't think Iran will live up to handing over the uranium nor funding terrorism, but no one can (legitimately) claim Trump didn't try.
Trump's problem is that he knows the Democrats and the media will not let us win outright. It's really dangerous to go to war with so many traitors in your own country. They want us to fail every bit as much as the regime does.
Enough already. When the deal is signed - lets see it. Shut up till then.
Qourvis is it, what would the times do if it didnt make stuff up
Yeah is it stumpy khahmeini or the other two stooges
I don't think the regime is smart or logical enough to make a deal Trump will accept - at least not yet. Trump's superpower of unpredictability versus the regimes super power of stupidity. It's a tough call.
The devil is in the details.
Let's see the signed agreement and judge what kind of deal got done.
I think Trump realized today, that it’s Memorial Day weekend with no trading in the US on Monday. I would not be surprised if he texts about a “breakthrough” tomorrow.
I take Trump's negotiating by means of press releases, social media comments and military moves as outlining the shape of reality as weather bars outline invisible shapes in the air. He might "accept" a deal which Iran does not intend to keep and neither does he, but he "accepts" the deal because Iran has no government. And leaves the blockade in place. Moves on to Cuba and Greenland. While Iran mad-dogs the Gulf countries and loses their friendship plus half a million dollars a day plus the trillions lost when the expensive part of the Iranian military hardware was ruined. Comes back and ruins the dirty palaces from which barbarians with rifles oversee the enslaved Iranian people.
Ten years a Trump voter, I have heard both sides of every issue for the last ten years; I have watched the opposition get sillier and sillier from only hearing one side; I've seen them go beyond silly into supporting Nazis. Meanwhile, Trump is rebuilding the country and calling into being a viable opposition to Dem grifters, e.g., even in California, Spencer Pratt is where it's at.
Think of it this way. Socialism has never been tried because the leaders of the socialists always start stealing from the people they control. And who can imagine for a moment that America will be the country where the socialists remain pure instead of going for the money?

🚨As true as the day is long!🚨
tcrosse has it right: Who speaks for Iran?
We killed the newest supreme leader last week according to some reports. So we're speaking with "negotiators". Who appointed them? Who do they work for?
Time to broadcast on every radio and television frequency a demand for unconditional surrender. Tell all base commanders to fly a white flag and occupation forces will be there shortly. And he and all the people under his command will keep their rank and position in the the new Iran armed forces.
Via Scott Jennings, a summary from a Senior Admin Official (SAO) — Iran gets nothing without first giving up the uranium. No money, no sanctions relief, etc. The deal could take days to complete as they haggle over fine details. Iran takes forever to respond. Deal could still die, who knows what could happen. Nothing’s guaranteed.
Its free to be a mid-level IGRC guy and talk to some reporter who then tweets out what is said.
This is why you see these crazy "deals" that would never be agreed to being tweeted.
Its designed to sow chaos and weaken Trump by making us seem like we're surrendering.
But a lot of it is Tokyo Rose.
Quite apart from the question of who speaks for Iran: who gives the orders that all those IRGC guys will obey?
The United States and Iran have agreed in principle …
Iran doesn’t have any principles except “Death to America.”
Netanyahu is reportedly giving it the thumbs down. Senators Booker (D, Israel) and Wicker (R, Israel) say no to the agreement. We shall see, but we've heard a deal is immanent before.
Axios reports that "The agreement the U.S. and Iran are close to signing involves at least a 60-day ceasefire extension during which the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, Iran would be able to freely sell oil, and negotiations would be held on curbing Iran's nuclear program, according to a U.S. official."
So spending $50 billion has taken us back from the Iranian deal cut by the Biden administration before Trump blew it up and still, no agreement is yet in place to have Iran agree to give up their nuclear capability. No one had to die and nothing had to be spent to end up here.
That report for Scott Jennings is interesting. It suggests to me that Trump doesn’t care as much about the Strait’s status, which makes sense to me. It hurts lots of weak countries unwilling to do anything about it. Their leaders think it might hurt Trump, but the US isn’t hurt by that lack of trade. Those countries and their citizens are hurt by that lack of trade, and their leaders are losing influence as we are seeing.
The uranium has always been a top goal of this conflict, and Trump is staying true on that issue. Give up the enriched uranium or suffer. Give it up, and you have a chance to retain power over your people. Don’t give it up and you’ll suffer more. The Gulf neighbors don’t seem to care if Iran suffers.
Pallets of Cash..Obama Lite we already had a deal, Never any proof of having a nuke ready(MAGAS notorious for WMD'S)in fact reporting just the opposite from the magas US intelligence assessment and right wing administration. Never will surrender Uranium ,, 20 year sunset. Nothing about missiles and small arms. trumps war and Policies =health care cant buy= gas rising fast=food rising even faster=oil solid at $100=fiscal debt=nearing 40 trillion, and a president who cant stay awake, building a Hitler like fortress,an arch for HIM(his words) killed the reflecting pool that wont reflect now for millions over budget,,Policies magas say.. hmmmmm Delusion is a serious illness..OBAMA LITE will not be worth the bad reasoning of the RIGHT WING WAR based again on FAKE WMD'S) c'mon man...
Could the peanut gallery not to be stupid for a day?
narciso,
If they knew how to not be stupid, they wouldn't be the peanut gallery in the first place would they?
This is frustrating to observe, like watching bodycam footage of a drunk driver refusing to comply and giving the cops attitude to boot... I am getting my license, chill out, yeah I have a license and registration, do you? I'm a sovereign citizen and I wasn't driving, I was traveling...
Sick of the muzzies playing that game. Just start bombing them until they give up or expire. The normal humans of Iran will be grateful when the muzzies are all dead.
I think Trump is building support for a renewal of the bombing. "Look we tried to give peace a chance but Iran kept denying and then reneging on our deals."
I know its rhetorical
TACO Tuesday (in this case Sunday). Not as bad as Obama, but Obama didn't talk so big.
At least the left are now openly admitting the Obama agreement was a complete joke.
Overheard on the wife's TV, as the female newscaster on war coverage runs down the list of terrible, awful things that are happening to the President, and also to the doomed American consumer, as this terrible conflict rages on: "...blah blah blah while oil prices continue to remain sharply unchanged blah blah blah......" I couldn't believe my ears.
If you look at this as a negotiation between Trump and the muslims in control of Iran you will constantly get whiplash. None of this will make any sense.
Especially since all of the leaders in Iran are dead and the only thing they have to fight with are some speed boats we could destroy at any time we wanted to. There aren't any real "negotiations" with Iran.
If you look at this as a negotiation between Trump and the world everything will fall into place. Every time a Eurotrash ruler gets uppity expect the "War" to last a little bit longer and some Chinese tankers to "sneak" through the "blockade."
China already submitted and agreed to buy US oil with dollars. Some of their tankers will get through but they wont be moving Iranian Oil.
Russia is making bank right now and they don't seem to be sending anything to Iran over the Caspian Sea which they easily, could so that deal is already made. Trump is happy to give parts of Ukraine to Russia since Zelenksy sided with the Eurotrash.
The Eurotrash and the Democrat Party on the other hand haven't surrendered yet. The Eurotrash rulers and the Democrat traitors have a popularity level somewhere between Cholera and Dogshit.
Trump can do this all day. It will only take a few months for Oil to go back to prices lower than when this started and the investment in manufacturing in the US has already begun in earnest.

It wasn't a joke.
It was open treason.
"Their leaders think it might hurt Trump, but the US isn’t hurt by that lack of trade. "
Gas prices say otherwise.
Just a pause. The Shites won’t stop killing everybody. DJT is lowering our gas prices until Mid-terms are won. Then he will finish them off.

Thanks, Breezy. I'm 100% on board with this. Radical terrorism is bad. Radical terrorism with nukes is beyond the bad. Unacceptable.
You'd think the left would see the need for arms control.
Obama: "What we need to do is give the NRA billions of dollars in a secret deal, that will solve this gun threat." You think?
NRA: "We've taken several Democrats hostage, and we will not release them unless you put billions of dollars in our bank account."
Biden: "Agreed."
Via Scott Jennings, a summary from a Senior Admin Official (SAO)
There is pretty much a 0% chance that this is phony. I can't imagine anybody in the Trump administration wanting to blow up Scott Jennings. His street cred with me is sky high.
Achilles, very nice points at 6:40. China, which is currently freezing $20 billion in Iranian assets, is a wild card. Israel, which has its own spy network, armed forces, and nukes (probably), is also a wild card. And Trump is a wild card.
Forging a peace in the Middle East will be the toughest task of the Trump administration. I would normally predict failure, but he's shocked me on numerous occasions. He might call his next book, The Art of the Possible
Winning the mid-terms is important.
Getting rid of Iran's nukes, once and for all, is way more important.
I would make that trade, personally. Being a lame duck Republican in your second term of office is common, and no big deal. Having a radical Islamic terrorist state armed with nukes is world-changing. And not in a good way.
