"On Saturday night, May 23rd, a shooter once again sought to murder the President, his family, and his staff at the historic White House complex."

"We submit this urgent filing to update the Court on a second attempted assassination on the President within a single month. Last night, shortly after 6:00 p.m., an armed assassin approached a White House security checkpoint near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, professionally pulled a high caliber gun from a bag, and opened fire in the exact direction of the White House. Brave Secret Service officers returned fire. The gunman was killed...."

From the Notice of Supplemental Authority in Support of the Government’s Motion for an Indicative Ruling Dissolving the Court’s Injunction, filed yesterday in National Trust for Historic Preservation v. National Park Service, the case about the White House ballroom, posted by Trump at Truth Social this morning.

"The under construction East Wing Project, which is on time and under budget, includes state of the art security features to repel all attacks against the President, his family, his staff, and esteemed visitors. These include a heavy steel, drone proof roof, missile resistant and drone proof columns, bullet, ballistic, and blast proof glass, Military grade venting for air conditioning and heating, and much more. Together, the entire Facility, which includes bomb shelters, a state of the art hospital and medical facilities, Top Secret military installations, structures, and equipment, protective partitioning, and other features, is a single integrated, complex unit that is vital for the National Security of the United States. This meritless Lawsuit has been a great attack on our Country in that the Military, Secret Service, and Law Enforcement are not happy that all of these Top Secret features have been revealed to potential enemies, criminals, and all others, including the fact that there will be a major drone port and Government sniper facilities on the heavily secured roof of the Ballroom, all for the sake of an unhappy passerby, a woman with absolutely no standing, represented by the 'National Trust,' which was defunded by Congress due to a total lack of respect for them.

"The Ballroom’s rooftop will serve a crucial strategic function for the security of the entire White House complex and beyond, including a drone port and key location for rooftop snipers who will protect the White House and the entire Washington, D.C. area, as a whole. Unlike virtually every similar structure in America, the Ballroom’s rooftop will include no air conditioning, venting, or similar facilities—It will be hermetically sealed to prevent malign forces from contaminating the circulating air, thereby threatening the lives of those inside. All of these and other specifications would have been kept secret, as is appropriate, but have been forced to be revealed to stave off the Court’s dangerous injunction...."

However the ballroom issue turns out, there will never be any more receptions on the WH grounds under tents in the backyard.

Its good to bring that up. Too bad it has nothing to do with what will be decided. The DC District Judge is a leftist and will rule on his politics. Look at Boasberg's crazy actions and rulings.

Dead man is 21-year-old Nasire Best. Another black guy. Usually theyre white loner weirdos, but this is the 2nd black to take a shot at Trump.

As the usual the MSM is completely incurious as to why all thest people keep trying to assassinate Trump. No looking for "root causes" or wondering if "the shooter was activated by the wrong messages from social media". Just give the name and move on.

…if one were empathetic to the sorry state of the Democrats they might be persuaded to think this is a lawfare defense of the Democrat’s lawfare, but the argument makes some fine legal justifications…

Wince said...

Well argued that this case is owed an extraordinary level of deference by the court, if not an outright non-justiciable issue. The standing issue should weigh heavily on the court's reasoning, but it won't for the usual political reasons.

Best sounds like a good old-fashioned lunatic, but it seems he knew how to professionally pull a gun.

The funny thing is my mother-in-law asked me about this, I told her it sounded like a crazy guy doing what to do, then I read this post, and yeah “professionally pulled a gun”? Not as professionally as the secret service that took him down.

Crazy judges behave and rule as if Trump would be the only President ever allowed to use the ballroom and associated security technology. The intellectual and professional immaturity of these judges is mind-boggling.

When you read these Trump legal documents, it seems that you can pick out the words Trump himself inserted — maybe sharpied onto the draft he insisted on editing. In this case, not just "professionally" but also "brave" — in "Brave Secret Service officers returned fire."

heh, yes. I saw that ‘professionally’ and thought either Trump or AI Trump…

It’s an election year and the Democrat strategists believe a violent Summer helps them in the polls. Apparently there’s a requirement you don’t recycle the type of violence from the last election cycle.

Hee…yeah, it reads a bit livelier than typical legalese.

Trump is definitely the most shot at President that we've ever had. His security concerns are realistic. At a conservative estimate there must be over 10,000 madmen in this country (and that's not counting Muslims) who would like to take a shot at him. It's very hard to protect against such madmen. President Trump's security concerns should be given some consideration and priority.

Remember that one of FDR's inaugurals got cancelled--the public part he still got sworn in--due to a massive snowstorm. This ballroom is large enough to do an inaugural if need be.

Dude was a repeat customer at the outer posts. Crazy homeless guy. He apparently escalated to gunplay when he wasn’t getting enough attention. He isn’t so much a data point for the ballroom as for Trump’s broken windows crime reduction strategy. If the DC courts would err on the side of committing this sort of guy, they wouldn’t be out to shoot at anyone. Also a good data point for Pratt’s homeless reduction strategy. CC, JSM

What bullshit. A nutjob pulled a revolver and fired... and got shot dead... A revolver folks... not this 'high caliber gun" and he did not do it 'professionally'.

He was just a Democrat. One of the dregs of society. Just like the other wannabe assassins that tried to kill Trump.

So democrats killed Charlie, tried to kill a bunch of republicans at a softball game, threaten to kill republicans every day, tried to assasinate Trump FOUR TIMES and reliably reported to try and kill his children.

All democrats are responsible.

JAORE said...

"A revolver folks... not this 'high caliber gun". Well, Paul I'm loath to argue with such an imprecise phrase as "high caliber gun". Nor have I read details about the specific gun used. BUT, within what I think are reasonable parameters I can certainly believe certain revolvers would qualify. Google Up Ruger Redhawk in 44 Magnum for an example.

Actually, I’ve seen a number of MSM articles pointing out Trump is to blame for raising the level of violent discourse and hatred. (Of course, no explanation as to why no Republicans are moved to violence by Trump’s language.)

The "Ballroom" was always just a military/security cover story for an updated White House bunker, command center, hospital, food store, and arsenal. The price tag for the "Ballroom" was a plausibly deniable cover story, and something chosen to fit Trump's flashy personality. The above-ground portion is likely 1/10th of the cost of the underground security complex. Or less. The "Ballroom" mainly functions as a shield against incoming missiles/bombs/drones -- sacrificial surface armor against bunker buster technology.

---

Never trust a writer who uses the phrase "high caliber gun" when they mean "high power" or "lethal" gun. Caliber means diameter, and it's one factor in power. Larger bullets can go slow and not be very effective. Velocity is a key factor -- the tiny "small caliber" AR-15 with .224" bullets is more likely to be lethal than "large caliber" .45 ACP handguns.

Also, never trust a writer who says "bullets" (i.e., the little thing that flies) when they mean "cartridges" (i.e., the big thing including the bullet, gunpowder, primer, and large non-flying case). But, that degree of accuracy is a lost cause.
