In hindsight and in light of the current Swalwell defenestration it's not inconceivable to me the calls for resignation of both men at the same time were engineered to force Democrats to make sure neither man actually had to, in order to avoid that unpalatable eventuality.

I live in Virginia. I assure you that Virginia’s Dumbocrats are a thoroughly violent lot. Spanberger is a hard core gun grabber not to reduce crime, but to stop ordinary people from shooting back.
All kinds of violence could be reduced if we enacted a complete prohibition on possession of firearms by registered Democrats and vigorously enforced it.
A prohibition on Democrat gun ownership has literally been their agenda since the Civil War and NFA (1934). They taxed stuff so the poor couldn't afford it. They used Black Codes and Saturday-night Special laws to price guns too high for the slaves | sharecroppers to afford. The Hawaiians literally just used the Black Codes before the USSC.
The wealthy/elite Democrats (FDR) rely on Bread and Circuses to obtain and maintain power. Scare women. Bribe the dependent and young and women. Buy the votes.
People hardest hit continue to be young black males. Forget most reasons. A tragedy wrapped in a lot of mothers' pain. I came to Atlanta right after the M&M kids. These kids were not parented. But then there was the moment in the mortuary. I knew several cops who cried, years later.
I pray there is a substantial family network remaining for those poor kids. He could have just gone out to the woods and offed himself, like a stoic. But no, a narcissistic showman to the end. Now the kids have to replace the carpeting before they can sell the house.
I have often thought after a tragedy like this that maybe a PSA would be helpful: Something like this: (Grok wrote this one for me) “Thoughts like ‘everything would be fixed if they were gone’ feel like a solution when you’re deep in pain or anger. But they’re a red flag that your brain needs support to reroute. Psychological help can derail that spiral before it takes over. You’re not alone - get the intervention you deserve.” I’m not educated in this field to know but it seems that your mind can sometimes down a road of resentment, or anger, or worry (in my case) and if you don’t do something to interrupt the cycle, it gets harder and harder to stop thinking the sane thoughts. And I’ve often wondered how does an individual have a real marker, an indicator that their thoughts are really bad ones and they need help. I think the idea that if you harmed another person, your life would be better - that’s a marker of your thoughts being out of your control and that you really need immediate psychological help. Maybe it’s a dumb idea, I don’t know. Grok of course tells me it’s an excellent idea but that really doesn’t mean anything.
The notion of "Don't speak ill of the dead" applies to natural deaths, and yes, even suicides. It does not apply to murderers or murder-suicides. Fair game.
