With the Corgis taking the lead....

"It seems that the seven dogs stolen from their owners escaped from an illegal transport truck and made their way back home. They say that [with the Corgis taking the lead], they crossed highways and fields together, traveling about 17 km to return to their respective homes" (translated from the Japanese).

More here.

Becoming the Alpha Dog is a mindset, not a body size.

Is it because their noses are closer to the ground?

Good doggies!

A random group of two-leggers wouldn't have done as well.

The cynic in me suggests this story is completely fabricated.

Corgis, porgis led the canine parade, and thought what a good puppy I am.

But did the Corgi’s advise the Japanese reporters in advance that they were taking the other doggies home?

I don't know where those dogs are going, but I do know where they're not going. Althouse's.

The dog interest follows from the (safe) Japanese practice of allowing very small children to walk to school. They can be terminally cute to female viewers:

Someone was filming them, yet, didn't give them a lift?

Related question: Were Queen Elizabeth’s Corgis brighter than Charles? His reign as Charles III suggests the affirmative.

Oodles, but no poodles.

That was one of the hard things about going to work in the far East, on market day, when you see the puppies in the cages and know what they're being sold for.

Were there others that didn't escape?!

"They say that they crossed..." Who is "they"? Certainly not the same "they" both times?

Disney would love this story. Just put a bítch in it and make her gay and lame (I use that word to refer to the dog so it's okay).

As I recall, in Disney's Lady and the Tramp (1955) they do manage to gas one of the dogs, the Scottie I believe. But hey, it's only a cartoon.

As a service to others, I'll post the translation of the 'Readers added context' so that everyone can get a clear understanding:

"...The Great Reversal! The 7 dogs who burned all over the network "escape" incident, the truth came: the domestic dog was lost, and finally returned home with a warm heart.
2026-03-24 18:11 Source: Shenyang Evening News
Published in: Liaoning Province

Recently, a "17 km return road" tear-ray short video screen, 7 dogs "run away" story touched countless netizens, related topics rushed to the top of the hot search list. However, this extremely hot event reversed and then reversed, after the reporter's on-site visit to verify that the so-called "dog thief chase", "seriously injured to take home" and other circumstances are not true, the fact is a domestic dog lost, and finally warm home oolong!

From the warm legend to the whole network hot discussion...."

Hope this clarifies.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER.
