Yet another "forever war"?
Is he supposed to say we can't? I mean seriously, is that what people think?
I am actually shocked at how quickly this is moving.
The United States is an incredible country when the right people are leading it.
It's amazing what you can accomplish when you aren't trying to save the world, but rather protect your interests.

If this takes less than 6 months it will be an incredible and valuable accomplishment.
After the qom destruction it looks pretty clear that Shia Islam is the target.
The Persians are burning down mosques atm.
Followed immediately by "Danang Dick" Blumenthal claiming their secret briefing included a boots-on-the-ground warning from Hegseth, which everyone else in the meeting denies was even said. Then Schumer rushed out to tell us "oil is skyrocketing" (lol must have been reading kak's trash), but CNBC just reported that world oil prices fell today. Yes, dropped to $74.68/BBL and even Goldman-Sachs lowered their predicted shock to top out at $76, or about 25% lower than the peak prices of Biden's 2nd year.

What I read is, they're burning them down not out of hate or anti-religious sentiment, but because the Shias have been using these like the Palestinians do, for strategic and operational purposes, as planning and staging bases in aid of rule. So the Iranian citizens, as patriots, are removing the mosques to deprive their enemy of useful strategic assets. Good for them.
If we arm the Kurds, I really hope we don't burn them again, as Bush did, badly. Marco is going to have his hands even fuller getting through that and keeping the peace.
Place your bets: the US will be there over or under 50 years?
See the Korean DMZ. See the intense tribal rivalries between Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, not to mention the Israel/Palestine factor.
I think the Iranian women want the mosques burned down and the Persian men are interested in what the women want for reasons.

The world will not be recognizable in 50 years.
We won’t really have money soon. It solved the problem of scarcity. The next problem we will have is finding purpose.
Hegseth isn’t wrong. And that is the problem the elites are really facing. The elites, whether science, medicine, political or psychology have been lying to the American public for decades. This isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue, it has been the national agenda irregardless of the political party. And now, Trump and his team has exposed the agenda for what it really is, a global participation trophy system where no team, country or person is exceptional.
It turns out that when Donald Trump promised us an end to "endless war" he meant that it was about victory against all comers.
The only reasons that he wanted to tamp down the Russia conflict was to free up more weapons for Israel's holy jihad against Iran. I thought that Trump was just duping his gullible evangelical supporters, but it turns out that there are significant numbers of them who believe that Trump is anointed by God to bring on the apocalypse and pave the way for the return of Jesus. I wish I was making this up.
The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 3Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. 4The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. 5The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. 7He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. Psalms 110:5
I never understood why George W Bush attended Bible Study classes as POTUS, well, so does Pete Hegseth. I forgave Trump the appointment of a low IQ gym rat, given how he was betrayed by the deep state last term, but Hegseth buys this crap too.
There are reports of military personnel complaining that their officers are telling them that they are fighting a holy war for Israel to bring on the Apocalypse and so Jesus' return. From the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, MRFF.
I no longer doubt that sailors were deliberately clogging the toilets of the Abraham Lincoln. The source was credible, a secular conservative Col who served as a senior military adviser to Trump in his first term, who said he was being told this by members still in the military.
The Dems all have this narrative that the US doesn't have a mission or the mission is changing.
At the top of his talk, Gen. Caine set it out clearly: To prevent Iran from projecting power across its borders.
The Dems constantly lie as part of their hate Trump discipline.
Blumenthal is one of the most reprehensible Senators ever. Liar.
"We can sustain this fight — easily — for as long as we need to..."
I’m skeptical as we’ve heard that before, but I suppose there is a first time for everything.
we looked at some “Israel 101” biblical passages regarding why every person, group, and nation should be supportive of Israel. This week we will dig deeper—call this study “Israel 401.” Keep in mind, given what’s happening in Israel, I think it is timely to provide this two-part series on Israel—from a Bible teacher’s perspective.
Nearly every public servant who has his or her ear to the ground knows that the Bible enjoins individuals and nations to bless Israel. In Genesis 12:3 God states in His promise to Abraham (Israel’s patriarch), “I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse.”

This is the Bible study class that Hegseth attends weekly. Huckabee is not an outlier.
Holy Moses, I have been decieved.
Oh, the US has a "mission," alright.
It's interesting that an American attack submarine sank an Iranian Navy ship using a torpedo. That hasn't happened since the end of WWII. The last time any ship was sunk by a torpedo was during the Falklands war in 1982. That was done by a British submarine.

It's shameful how desperate some people are for this to drag out so they can complain about the forever war. But, really, this is day 5. Keep your pants on.
Trump Derangement Syndrome, now with new & improved Holy Rollerism !
By contrast, here is how one of the greats did it:
"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat"
"We won’t really have money soon. It solved the problem of scarcity. The next problem we will have is finding purpose."
I find myself thinking about "Riders of the Purple Wage" by Philip Jose Farmer frequently these days.
That's nice. None of this has anything to do with the security of the USA. Or our interests. This is a war for Israel and the Epstein class. Its Epstein's war.
He said we could. Not that we would. It's obviously not politically possible, so just stop the silly bullshit. It's been 3 freaking days. Nobody wants it to go on long, especially not Trump or his people. Their whole point is that long wars are preventable with the right objectives and rules of engagement. That's what they intend to prove. Nobody would have said the Venezuelan operation was even possible before it was done. This is not the swamp's military.
Back in the fifties the US intervened in Iranian politics. It's a self evident truth that all of Iran's subsequent problems stemmed from this intervention. Had we not done so, Iran would have become a peaceful, prosperous democracy.....I draw your attention the example of Nicaragua. The evil masterminds in the Regan administration strove against the wishes of the Nicaraguan people and Hollywood to keep Ortega out of power. However, over time Ortega and his cause won out. Nicaragua under Ortega is now a peaceful, prosperous democracy and the envy of all its neighbors......But I digress. If intervening in that one elections back in the fifties he such profound effects on Iran, how do you expect this massive bombing campaign to bring out about something better
Hegseth is right. Iran has no way to resupply with munitions as long as the allies have complete control of their airspace. They have no way to manufacture more ballustic missiles. There is no way to get Russian/Chinese missiles into Iran, much kess replacement SAM systems. And the less they have to shoot with the less pressure on allied stocks of SAMs.
These wars always begin well and end badly. I don't see Iran becoming a better place for Iranians to live after this campaign. On the plus side, neither do I see Iran building nuclear weapons or subsidizing local madmen after this campaign.
"It's a self evident truth that all of Iran's subsequent problems stemmed from this intervention. Had we not done so, Iran would have become a peaceful, prosperous democracy."
This is hardly a "self evident truth" nor is it likely that Iran would have become a peaceful democracy.
" I don't see Iran becoming a better place for Iranians to live after this campaign."
A week ago Iranian citizens were being murdered by the thousands by their own government. Maybe a visit to the optometrist is in order.
You know, Iraq turned out fairly well, in the end.

’Yet another "forever war"?’
What’s the over/under for the whiners to call it a quagmire?
Jaq and lonejustice “I’m the most American American. I love freedom and hate America’s enemies. But attacking Iran who promised they have enough uranium for nuclear weapons and they promise to nuke us as soon as they can deliver the system to USA is unamerican! It’s unaerican to fight America’s enemies!”
A week ago Iranian citizens were being murdered by the thousands by their own government.
And now they are being murdered by Americans and Israelis. We are also destroying their infrastructure. You do know it costs money to repair bomb damage? Next thing you know, Trump will be shipping pallets of cash to Iran.
Their whole point is that long wars are preventable with the right objectives and rules of engagement.
And what exactly are the objectives? Between Trump, Hegseth, and Rubio, several objectives have been given.
There are reports of military personnel complaining that their officers are telling them that they are fighting a holy war for Israel to bring on the Apocalypse and so Jesus' return. From the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, MRFF.
This does not sound credible. Likely 'anonymous sources'. Not even chaplains talk like that. Find a better rumor next time, thanks.
I no longer doubt that sailors were deliberately clogging the toilets of the Abraham Lincoln. The source was credible, a secular conservative Col who served as a senior military adviser to Trump in his first term, who said he was being told this by members still in the military.
This actually does sound like something that could happen, although more along the lines of junior enlisted being junior enlisted. Even money if it was happening out of ignorance or malice, but malice would be more along the lines of sailor disgruntlement ( a member of the paperclip club, for example) rather than anything more sinister. Your 'secular Col' though? Lawl! My guess would be Vindman.
True story, coming out of an availability, the officer's head kept getting stopped up. Couldn't figure out why. Really made XO angry since the DVs (IYKYK) had to use the chiefs' head. Finally we got the time and maintenance support to dig into the problem... turned out someone had put a PVC pipe in the drain line during the overhaul. /facepalm.
"We are also destroying their infrastructure. You do know it costs money to repair bomb damage?"
Wow, yea! I never thought of that.
And I guess you're right, the murderous mullahs and their henchmen are also Iranian citizens, but something about killing them just doesn't hit me like hanging teenagers in the street. Probably just my moral failing.
I, for one, suggest we continue the attacks against the Iranian government officials and every aspect of their power until we obtain unconditional surrenders from them, and let them ask for a solid week or so before accepting. I'd really like to continue the operations until Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and any other friends of the mullahs also surrender unconditionally. After all, Hezbollah has entered the fight, the Houthis are trying to, and Hamas hasn't met the conditions for continuing the cease fire with them. Why not just keep going until several of the problem groups of the Mideast aren't a problem?
The Left: War is mean and icky. Stop doing war. Oh about those evil mullahs, the subjugation of women, and those 40k dead protesters? That's just their culture, why are you so racist?
Right after the first Gulf War, the people of Iraq rose up against Saddam. He put down that revolt mercilessly. The low ball figure is 100,000 but perhaps as many as 300,000 were killed. These aren't the kind of deaths that inspire outrage among thoughtful people of peace in the west. Later on, when we finally overthrew Saddam, an ongoing civil war broke out. To date, there have been about 200,000 to 400,000 casualties in this ongoing strife. And, of course, Saddam himself initiated a war with Iran that caused the death of about 200,000 Iraqis....I look to Jaq for wisdom and guidance: how would parcel out blame for this ongoing tragedy. Is the fault mostly US imperialism or does Saddam's bad decisions or the religious fanaticism among the Iraqis themselves have any part in this?
’And now they are being murdered by Americans and Israelis.’
Imagine hating Trump and America so much that you can’t appreciate the elimination of the world’s largest sponsor of terror; a country that brutally repressed its citizens. Nor can you appreciate the extraordinary accomplishments of our military, its members, and leadership.
It really must suck to be you, Fredo. Sad!!
All the Iranian regime has to do is survive, and it will be a victory for them. Difficult...but a victory.
I note in passing, regarding every comment above along the lines of endless war and quagmire and purpose, that in WW I the US mobilized and entered the war rather rapidly, and helped end that quagmire rather rapidly. In WW II we fought a truly existential worldwide war with our allies and ended it after 4 years of massive death and destruction. In Korea we managed to avoid a complete loss after a surprise attack, and fought half the world away fightinga Soviet proxy state and the Chinese PLA, who combined could not defeat our "police action." In Vietnam we showed that we could maintain a defensive war, again half the world away, for over a decade before stopping at a time of our choosing. Nicaragua became much less revolutionary after Reagan unleashed guerilla warfare against that Soviet proxy. We will briefly mention the vacation in the Caribbean that was Grenada and the banking dispute that was Panama. Kuwait's liberation sure wasn't a long endeavor. And the "forever wars" of recent years were again long due to our own choices, not destroying Iran after toppling Hussein, not destroying Pakistan to rid the world of the Taliban. I'd say that considering we can do both decades long defensive wars and short aggressive offensive wars, successfully, the current operation to destroy the mullahs in Iran cannot be prejudged as to strategy or duration. And killing the mullahs seems to me a wholesome thing for the world. Perhaps the people of Iran will agree and help move things along a bit faster to ending this theocratic genocidal insanity from the world. I'm sure they can find some rope and lamp posts.
Thoreau said a dollar invested in a school is worth more than a dollar invested in a prison. In like way, I think a dollar invested in a luxury car is worth more than a dollar invested in a nuclear weapons development program.......The elite of most of these Gulf states are corrupt and self indulgent. They have chosen not to side with the wretched of the earth but rather with their imperialist oppressors. I don't know how well their people live, but it seems evident that they live better than the people of Gaza, Iraq, or Iran. Corruption isn't the worst crime on earth.
In all the accounts of the war that I'm reading, I don't see any news or even speculation about what the Artesh, the regular non-IRGC army, is up to. If they mutiny and leave their barracks it would be a real game changer. Has anyone heard anything?

Not exactly sure what this means, but I’m curious!
Beasts of England – it’s funny they all swear they are super Americans and yet they root for America’s enemies and they wish cast for America’s defeat. That’s a weird kind of patriotism.
Oh, and it’s all because of the secret Jew mind rays. Those Jews are really sneaky. They have mine control ray guns. They used to be able to control the weather only. Significant advancement in technology.
Mikee- The obvious best examples of forever war in the recent past are, Iraq, and Afghanistan. We can certainly debate about the wisdom of Iraq. Afghanistan was necessary after 9/11. Both countries were fully pacified with no significant American deaths in years. Neither had the ability to attack the West. We might not love the idea of our troops being in Afghanistan forever but the troops there were at no risk of injury with the countries being pacified, and while they were there, the Islamic threat was neutralized. Naturally, as this was beneficial for Western civilization Obama and Biden chose to surrender to the savages, and Afghanistan is now back to where it always was. A potential threat to us lurking. All we had to do was just keep our troops stationed there. But the Democrats couldn’t even do that right.

C: I give you the words of our "ambassador" to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who said that he would be fine with Israel taking over the entire Middle East.
If you don't like "holy rollerism" you should look into who has their pointy heads on the levers of power, and who are being used by Netanyahu.
Just eight months ago Hegseth was insisting that Iran’s nuclear program had been totally obliterated. Hard to believe this was the best candidate for the job. A defense secretary who's already achieved legendary status for all the wrong reasons.
"Right now the smoke is rising over burning mosques."
No doubt, we are turning Tehran into Gaza. Not just mosques though, but hospitals, ambulance centers, police stations, firehouses.
The recent protests arose from the Bazar, and guess what? We are "helping" them by destroying the businesses of that bazar, which has been there since the days of caravans returning on the Silk Road.
The only silver lining that I can see is that the Democrats are going to have a hard time supporting Israel blindly, as they have in the past, and did even now once Netanyahu's MAGA hat is indelibly burned into America's consciousness.
When I say that the Democrats are culpable in this attack, I point out that Schumer put off the vote that could have prevented it, forcing Trump to shit or get off the pot, because if he didn't go right now, the opportunity would be lost. That was not by accident.
Now it's B-52 to carpet bomb Iran. Wonderful. A clear majority of Republicans now oppose this, BTW, as a betrayal of his promises. Trump has been forced by Israel, which Rubio plainly admits, into the wrong side of an 80-20 issue.
Go get ‘em, Karoline Leavitt!
Shine that spotlight on the lickspittle media!!!
Maple Syrup-crazed Maricon!!!
Forced to use B-52s? Hey, you get air superiority you can bomb them from Cessna 172s. The B 52 is still a very good bomb truck.

These mosques are also where the prisoners of the religious police are taken, housed, and tortured, before being executed. That’s really the big one - so many Iranians (and especially women) have lost loved ones to these mosques. Plus it’s where their religious and political indoctrination is carried out.
Ukraine attacked a Russian LNG tanker in the Mediterranean, in Europe’s hour of need for LNG, and in response, Russia has cut off all remaining supply of natural gas to Europe.
Ha ha ha.
It was a US base in Turkey that was attacked, and not a peep from NATO because it is a war of aggression by the US.
Yeah, that’s the propaganda, even though Iran is riddled with underground bunkers, they are using the hospitals and mosques, and so, darn it, we are going to have to destroy them, along with the fire departments and ambulance garages, all of which have, according to Iranian expats, who are cheering on the murderous bombing campaign, anyway.
BTW, the CIA is known to run troll farms to justify war crimes with propaganda claims.
If the 1953 coup is any indication, most of the people arrested in those protests were foreign agitators.
Russia has lost market share if it has, effectively, cut off its nose to spite its face. Nat Gas production is a lot more flexible than petroleum. There are lots of producers able to step up to replace Russia.

Dutch for timmeh
“ Turkey reporting being attacked by Iranian drones.
This is a silly move if deliberate.”
Maybe not. First, the Turks are mostly Sunni. But maybe more importantly, Turkey became the political, and ultimately intellectual, center of Islam, for at least the 500 years before they lost their empire after WW II. Before that, while the religious center was Mecca, the intellectual center was Persia.
Also, Turkey is part of NATO. That means that that country is entitled to invoke the Self Defense provisions of the treaty (which is why Ukraine wants to join, and most members don’t want them). That would bring in GB, France, and Germany into the war against Iran. Which they don’t want. Why would Iran want to do that? Very possibly to get the rest of NATO to get the US to back off a bit. I can just imagine the back room negotiations between Turkey and its NATO partners to just ignore the missiles launched against it. Nobody in NATO really likes the Turks, but they control egress to the Black Sea, which keeps Russian warships out of the Mediterranean, as well as the Middle East.
It’s going so much better than planned that the French are sending a carrier group.
Necrosis likes to harp on the war trauma that my mother experienced, and which trauma haunted her for her entire life.
Here’s a story from my dad in WWII that you can use instead, please. He was in North Africa, flying over the site of a battle in the desert three days before, at 5,000 ft, and the stench of the dead was still overpowering. Use that instead, leave my mother out of it.
Turkey, if not exactly friendly to Iran, is probably the friendliest state on its immediate borders. Well, every state bordering Iran has fraught relations to some degree. Nobody there is inclined to be a good neighbor it seems.
Turkey and Iran have important common interests in re the Kurds, as in both hate them, and Turkey has the most important remaining trade lifeline to Iran.
How many british american and polish troops died to liberate holland maybe they shouldnt have bothered@
You see how this works
Just keep being an asshole, all the while, Trump’s appeal becomes more selective as you turn the noise to 11.
The best strategy is to let you talk.
A lot of the those rotting corpses in the desert were British, and they didn’t die so that the US could go on a murder spree based on the president having “a feeling.”
Every one of my relatives was a survivor of WWII. Worse, they were all the lucky survivors of the Battle of Manila and the Japanese massacres. They lost everything and half the family. We grew up on war stories, and played on the rubble, here and there, which was still there in the 60's. In our school one could put your fingers in the old bullet holes, like Christs stigmata.
In those days my aunts (the surviving ones) would play mahjong Saturday evenings, in clouds of cigarette smoke, reminiscing about all their friends that had "died in the war".
So get stuffed, Imtay or Jaq or Tim.
’…in Europe’s hour of need for LNG’
They should just use their wind turbines and solar panels!
Two of my uncles died in Japanese prison camps, another, and my great-grandfather, were lucky survivors of the Kempeitai. He testified against Yamashita in his trial.
Something like 25% of the Spanish population of Manila died, or were murdered, in the course of WWII. We are talking about 50,000 or so in 1941. Add all the mestizos and other foreigners that were in their circle, plus all the Filipinos and Chinese. It was a gregarious society. In 1945 everyone was sorting out mass graves.
Your mommy? How about thousands of mommies. Burned, shot, or, mostly, slaughtered with bayonets.
Go f*** yourself.
As for Ukraine - they are the experts at dealing with drones. They are the cutting edge. They are the key to US capabilities in this sphere, with a probability of being at least as valuable allies as the Israelis. R&D happens when you get a lot of practice and can mess around without too much bureaucracy.
Friday is coming up. The Muslim sabbath. Trump should say “Persians, go to noon prayer on Friday. We will not bomb your cities during this time. And once hundreds of you are gathered at the Jumaa Masjid in your neighborhood, I want you to converge on that imam, that turbaned rapist, that bearded agent of tyranny, and rip him to shreds. Even if ten or twenty of you get shot in the process, you will win. Bismillah.” CC, JSM
Thoreau said a dollar invested in a school is worth more than a dollar invested in a prison.
Thoreau said a lot of shit. If you don't invest enough dollars in prisons, your investment in schools will be worthless.
Jaq - I know a ton of Persians. Probably more than 100. Probably less than 300. Somewhere around there. Every single one of them. Not 90%. Not 95%. Every one of them is celebrating this. You have to understand that they have been living under a psychopathic genocidal deaf coat, where they torture and rape and murder people simply because the women, for example, do not wear a urka correctly.
I would guess that very close to 100% of the Persian diaspora despises the government and wants to see them all dead. I would guess that outside of the people who are directly supported by the government in Iran the percentages are similar.
Iranians all over the world are desperately grateful to President Trump. This is not at all like Afghanistan or Iraq. These are sophisticated, educated people who know what the modern world is and who belonged to return to it.
I think the best equivalent is Cubans in Florida. That population is completely lost a Democrats who support communist dictatorships rather than freedom. For generations, Persians will be naming streets after Donald Trump and their grandchildren and great grandchildren will be taught to love the United States.
I assume you do not know any Persians.

The world has an opportunity to support classical liberal democracy, or Head chopping savages that want to subjugate all of the world to an extreme version of Islam and sharia.
That is really the choice. Do you stand with Western civilization? If so, you stand with Israel. You stand with Taiwan. Do you support slavery and communism and Islam and dictatorship? Then you stand with Palestinians and mullahs and communist China.
this is not one of the hard decisions. This is one of the easy decisions. Stand with western civilization or oppose western civilization. It’s a black-and-white decision.

My wife and I met a Lyft driver in Vegas yesterday who is half Persian. He told us he cried with joy when President Trump told the Iranians that he was giving them their freedom back to do with it what they wanted. We could see and feel the emotional impact this action is taking. He absolutely loves Trump and America. We were very happy for him and all Persians.
They blew up the local office of, I think, the religious police, at the end of alley and didn't disturb any other residence.
