"The Shangri-Las were the best bad girl records ever...."
Says John Waters, shopping for records and talking about a lot of artists he loves:That's my second Shangri-Las experience of the day. The first was Meade's walking-in-the-sand sunrise video:

Almost any Phil Spector-backed girl group was excellent.
What's with Water's teeth? Thos have to be veneers or implants. Way too white.
Shangri-Las started in high school.
God Bless John Waters.
John's dad was in the fire equipment business in Baltimore. Fireline. John's brother Steve bought it from dad and ran it for decades until Steve died at a quite young age. My dad and Steve Waters were great friends.
John and Steve's dad was quite encouraging of John's film career and bought him his first camera.
Steve's daughter runs Fireline today.
RIP Chuck Norris
He appears to say (and the closed-caption thingy seems to hear it this way, too): "I've been doing this all day while my friends have been shoplifting." Go to 0:15 to hear this.
That is SO California!
Or is there something I'm missing?
The sardonic John Waters has turned into a real life Mr. Sardonicus!
Scroll halfway down, on the left:

Just checked, Anna Gavin, Steve's daughter, sold Fireline in 2025. Family business for 80 years.
I never heard of Mr. Sardonicus, but I did know about Dr. Sardonicus.
I'll go educate myself now.
Love Chris Isaak . Love
I listen to Chris isaaks speak of the devil album often.
Duck dynasties in social relief, with mom and dad quackers in a subliminal backdrop.
Truly, I haven't explored Water's art too deeply, but I always find the man himself personable, interesting and funny.
A John Waters film I like is "Pecker." Try that one.
Almost 80 and he looks pretty good. Like the ducks and the "Walkin' in the sand" part.
Well I like "leader of the pack", that's the only song of their's i can remember.
Bad Girls?! Four yaldas from Queens? Oy!
The best John Waters audio I ever heard is his commentary recorded for the DVD of "Mommie Dearest". Worth seeking out.
Meade will enjoy this.
I’m not a jazz musician. I don’t have heroin
…oh good lord. I need a minute…
“Polyester”… I think that was the one with scratch and sniff.
“Love Chris Isaak . Love”
Hey, peachy… about a dozen or so years ago our daughter told us she was in a store near where she lived and Isaak’s mother tried to set her up for a date with her son. Mother was a known regular at the store and she was fairly insistent, but with a sense of humor about it. Our daughter laughed and told her thanks but no thanks.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but a couple of weeks before 9/11, I was at Atlanta Hartsfield measuring doors…all damned day, everyday. AATC was pushing us, OverHead Door and some shitty hacks out of Forest Park to not even try to repair anything, just replace, replace replace (Three days before it happened they pulled everybody off and canceled any remaining work…they knew it was coming). Anyhoo, I dropped in to the restroom, stepped up to the toilet, looked over and there he was. All 5’2” of him. The only thing that popped into my mind was “Huh, fancy meeting YOU HERE.). Dude belly laughed. Big time. I got a chance to say that me, a red neck door salesman was a fan, a big fan. He liked that.
