We're told "Alexia Moore delivered a 22- to 24-week-old fetus 'with cardiac activity' in December, according to an arrest warrant, which cited Moore’s medical records. The newborn, a girl, died within an hour."
Delivered a fetus? The child was born alive, then died. I think they mean that they detected cardiac activity while it was in utero, so they delivered what was, on delivery, a baby.

The Pro-Choice ethical religion denies women's dignity, conscience, and capacity to empathize. Six weeks to a viable legal state. That said, keep women reusable, affordable, available, and taxable (RAAT), and the "burden" h/t Obama of evidence sequestered in sanctuary jurisdictions. #HateTrumpsLove #HateLovesAbortion
Fetus is a technical term-of-art used in urbane culture to socially distance abortionists by Choice.
I bet if we saw a picture, we'd all be able to agree on that whole 'celibacy' angle.
Was the problem that she took the pills or that she took them in the second trimester?
I find it hard to believe anything printed about these types of incidents involving abortion. Especially if it's in the WaPo or NYT.
Safe legal and rare not so much
If someone had dosed her food with the same medications and the same outcome prevailed, that someone would be charged with murder, too.
The actions of the woman speak to her ignorance regarding what she was attempting to accomplish.
She was already past the halfway point in her pregnancy, did she think the unborn baby was simply going to disappear after taking the pills? Suppose she had actually delivered a live,(though premature) baby on her own? What was her next step?
No excuse in a world with readily avilable birth control. And then she waited until she was 5 or 6 months pregnant to decide she didn't want the baby. That's a viable baby she killed. At that point, adoption would have been the best path.
Stripping a woman of the right to bodily autonomy is in itself a form of rape.
No one who uses the "bodily autonomy" justification for what is, by definition, murder, has any idea how weak and worthless an argument it is.
Assume there is such a thing as a "right to autonomy", and that loss of autonomy makes homicide by abortion justifiable.
So far, so good.
Unfortunately, there is nothing in the definition of autonomy* that restricts the right thereof to relieving oneself of pregnancy.
After all, there many other unchosen circumstances in life that more significantly circumscribe, and for much longer than a pregnancy, people's autonomy.
E.g: A couple's 20 year old son suffers a traumatic brain injury from a motorcycle crash. He will need extensive care for the rest of his life. The couple didn't choose this, and their autonomy and finances will be compromised for the rest of their lives.
To they get to kill their son? If not, why does this woman get to abort her child in pursuit of autonomy?
Celibacy is the first choice, her choice, one of four, not including Choice, and, coincidentally, his first choice, one of three. Otherwise, think of the children! Baby Lives Matter #BLM
The entire leftist cult do not believe that an unborn developing fetus is a person.
Forgot to include the definitions of autonomy. From PubMed:
Autonomy is defined as the capacity to think, decide, and act freely and independently on the basis of such thought and decisions. Three types of autonomy are distinguished: autonomy of thought, which embraces the wide range of human intellectual activities called "thinking for oneself"; autonomy of will, or the capacity to decide to do things on the basis of one's deliberations; and autonomy of action ...
Women have a right to self-defense under the same conditions and considerations as men.
“Local police in Kingsland arrested Moore in March 2026 and booked her into the Camden County jail. She faces a murder charge, along with drug‑related charges, with authorities alleging that by taking high doses of misoprostol and illegally obtained oxycodone late in pregnancy, she caused the baby’s respiratory failure and death after live birth.
The arrest warrant, as reported by multiple outlets, frames the case not as a standard “abortion” prosecution but as the killing of a legal “person” after birth. It states that under Georgia law in this context, personhood begins at live birth and argues that Moore’s intent to kill is shown by her alleged admission that she “wanted the infant to die” and knew the baby was suffering because of her actions. One Catholic outlet that examined the documents emphasized that she was charged based on the baby’s death after birth and the oxycodone ingestion, rather than directly under the state’s abortion statute.”
Alexia Moore is 5'-6" and none too bright judging from her mugshot.
In the case of pregnancy, self-defense as judged by her attending physician, which is where legal liability attaches.
So, it wasn't about abortion specific to pregnancy at all, but about planned personhood in the general legal sense.
"Delivered a fetus? "
Just a silly little mistake. Anyone could have made the same.
The proper term, as all right* thinkers understand is "scrap of tissue".
* Right as in correct, good heavens we can not allow that the MAGA/"right" - aka Naaazzziiiiis - actually think).
"what was, on delivery, a baby."
Amazing the power of words, to transform a human being into a human being.
A viable baby, 22-24 weeks gestation, was intentionally killed.
Any woman reading that sentence above and SIDING with the mother?
Never, ever, for a moment consider such women innocent of their child’s death.
Deliberate, premeditated murder every single time.
I detest the casual, murderous selfishness of every woman who commits or condones such evil.
Poor choices all around.
I doubt that murder charge will stand given Georgia's slovenly justice system. There's a possibility that this charge was filed specifically to motivate Georgia Democrats in November when the trial may have commenced.
can't we ALL AGREE?
that a woman's bodily autonomy gives HER the right to abort/imprison/enslave ANY OTHER PERSON ON EARTH?
IF you are a woman.. ALL OTHER PEOPLE'S Rights vanish.
does a fetus have a right to bodily autonomy?
OF COURSE NOT!
does a breathing baby have a right to bodily autonomy?
NOPE!
how about a man (by which i mean a "splooge stoge")?
does HE have a right to bodily autonomy?
OF COURSE NOT! he is NOT a woman (unless he identifies as such?)
"She also allegedly took oxycodone, a painkiller."
The Post downplays this but it is the basis of the charges, not the abortion drug.
The child appears to have died from respiratory failure caused by an opioid overdose.
way back at the the turn of the century, a teenaged girl in Chelsea Iowa gave birth to her baby (by herself), which she then tossed into a snowbank on the side of the road, and left it to die.
She was charged with murdering the crying newborn.
MANY feminists in the state claimed that this was a HORRIBLE THING (the murder charge.. not the murder)
https://www.tamatoledonews.com/news/local-news/2023/03/23/iowas-safe-haven-law-an-origin-story/
so, because of the HORROR, of holding women accountable for their actions; in the state of iowa, IF you don't want your kid; you can just drop it off at the local firestation.. and your responsiblities are OVER..
(of course, the father is STILL liable for child support)
"Stripping woman [sic] of the right to bodily autonomy is in itself a form of rape."
And International Jewry restricting the Aryans' right to Lebensraum in the East is in itself a form of genocide.
Let me interpret for the audience at home. Delivering a fetus with cardiac activity means Delivering a baby with a heartbeat
Professor, I appreciate in this and all your posts, your unreserved commitment to accurate wording.
During this time of declining population, once the fetus reaches viability, society’s interest in the baby being at full term outweighs the mother’s interests. You understand, Althouse, because you’re left of center. You understand the concept that the interests of society outweigh the rights of the individual.
Sex is the original FAFO.
That's why I got a vasectomy at around 40 years old. It was that or celibacy, which I never learned how to do.
J Severs, in my professional life, I advised colleagues: "Don't write to be understood. Write so that you cannot be misunderstood."
Sad, clueless women suck.
Hello Fred Drinkwater, thank you for your sharp advice. I will add it, with attribution, to my notebook of notable quotes.
Her statements lend credibility To Darwinism and the human species rejecting inferior traits…
I thought the alternatives, adoptions, no questions asked drops at police stations and churches, would pick up and become the new normal, after the end of Roe. What happened?
Althouse disproves her own argument by arguing that it depends on the meaning of words. Taking up one context or another without arguing why it's the right context is dogmatism. The other side is denied a voice, is why what's dishonest.
Call it almost a baby, or nearly a baby. A baby in embryo. Room for compromise.
Expand the difference between almost and nearly. Peter Hacker says it's the response to negation. Not almost a baby, or not nearly a baby. Yet everybody uses the words correctly without knowing that rule explicitly.
You get "heatbeats" very early, even before there's a heart. I'd suggest it's autocatalytic chemistry, which can produce beats. A side effect is keeping stuff moving, which is its utility.
Just putting aside the heartbeat criterion for being a human.
Autocatalytic heartbeats
Natural cells exhibit rhythmic patterns of behavior, such as a beating heart, that help drive essential processes such as metabolism, signaling, growth, and division. To replicate these patterns in artificial cell compartments, scientists are exploring enzyme systems as key elements. Here, we report a more experimentally realistic numerical model of a system involving an encapsulated esterase enzyme that breaks down ethyl acetate to produce acid inside a compartment...

UK House of Lords just passed abortion bill allowing abortion for pregnancies in their 34th week. Good God, what's wrong with western civilization? There it is in a nutshell: ignore migrant rape gangs, allow 34-week abortions, pride yourself in your fake empathy to women.
I think the trouble is that you learn to be a human, and nobody wants to admit it. It seems too uncertain and unsafe. It must be something definite, everybody thinks.
What's definite, and takes care of the problem, is a bright line in the law. Say at birth, when society takes an interest in it. Empathy and all that.
"I swear to God if I were a This, I would do a That." Tell me more bore.
In 1960, a classmate of mine at Northern Illinois University, Claudette Kozel, delivered a full term baby in the dorm's washroom in the middle of the night without assistance. She had kept her pregnancy secret. I saw her in gym clothes that week and she looked a little overweight. She stabbed the new born several times and stuffed it in a waste basket. She got one year's probation and never revealed who the sperm donor was.
"Don't write to be understood. Write so that you cannot be misunderstood."
What's that supposed to mean?
Maybe we should change the consensus of physiological characteristics of life throughout our evolution, then we can abort the Pro-Choice ethical religion, including homicidal virtue that has been a burden for social, clinical, criminal, political, and climate progress.
Don't worry about false negatives, but rather false positive (e.g. handmade tales).
Celibacy, prophylactics, adoption, and #NoJudgment #NoLabels #LoveWins #HateLovesAbortion are viable choices. Planned parenthood or human rites is a transhumane ideology and Choice or wicked solution under the Pro-Choice ethical religion in cases other than rape or self-defense. Even then, a woman has six weeks to abort before homicidal virtue becomes a compelling social concern.
She's swearing to mortal gods and goddesses who operate under RAAT. #MeToo etc.
Schrodinger baby? Correction: Schrodinger person from conception and certainly under a veil of privacy at the twilight fringe.
Okay, Chickie, if it's too much trouble to nourish and nurture another individual in your body for 9 months, half of which don't really count, you're sure as shit ill-suited to nourish and nurture an individual in your home for 18 years. Please do stay celibate.
The future belongs to those who show up, and these days it's conservative Christians and Jews in America, and even secuar conservatives.
Anti-child "feminists" are Secular Shakers, doomed to extinction once they no longer control schools and academia to indoctrinate potential converts.
I am not a mathematician nor a biologist, but I can tell you that a 22- to 24-week fetus is not first trimester.
"I swear to God if I were a young woman today I would choose celibacy over having the government in charge of my body. Stripping woman of the right to bodily autonomy is in itself a form of rape."
Yeah! it really is horrible the way the gov't forces you to get permission for a doctor in order to get birth control!
Oh, wait, that's the Democrats who demand that, the GOP tried to get that changed, and the Democrats refused.
In any event, Sunshine, you're in charge of your body: you get to decide whether or not you'll have sex, and you can go clean out the results of any rape with a menstrual extraction without ever discovering if a rapist got you pregnant.
Choices have consequences: if your choices led to the creation of another human being, yes, the gov't gets to stop you from murdering that other human being
"UK House of Lords just passed abortion bill allowing abortion for pregnancies in their 34th week."
I don't think so. The new law, which hasn't yet passed, says that a woman cannot be prosecuted for her involvement in the abortion of her own child. They have a 24 week limit for medically assisted abortions.
Georgia's law says the same thing. That's why they are pursuing the oxycodone angle. The death was a result of the overdose, not the abortion itself.
Georgia’s law prohibits abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is generally about six weeks.
Right. I was referring to the decriminalization for the Mother.
Nervous system complexity evolves from a nexus in proximity to six weeks. The same time that homos/sims et al are believed to transition in utero.
"I swear to God if I were a young woman today I would choose celibacy over having the government in charge of my body. Stripping woman of the right to bodily autonomy is in itself a form of rape."
Any bets this person was saying the same thing during the Jab Mandates or nah ....
Ah, yes. Homicide without consequences. It's all the rage today.
Capitol punishment (e.g. planned parenthood umbrella corporation).
Any claims from the Washington comPost and it's commentariat are only given birth from an anus.

If this is a correct statement of the law and the circumstances, as a legal matter, it is probably correct that once born the child is a baby. For purposes of the criminal charges, isn't the status of the child/fetus/baby at the time of the alleged crime (the ingestion of the drugs) the key factor? How can they charge her with murder unless it was her intent that the child be born alive? (Which I seriously doubt can be proven, notwithstanding her expressed desire after the fact that the baby die). I suppose it is possible that the warrant specifies actions after the birth which contributed to the death of the baby, but that's not in the report.
A horrible and tragic situation, but my analysis is that the murder charge is doomed to fail.
A baby is always a baby. Both before and after birth. It's really that simple. Mothers must always defend their bbabies. Abortion is murder. Stop killing defenseless little babies. It's morally wrong.
Dont fuck,ladies.
The boomers want babies and control over your bodies. The best way not to let them in is not to fuck when fertile.
Let them have their sad controlling opinions and advice but no babies, no sexx. The geezers can jack to the pictures some cuck posts of his beautiful wife everymorning, set to music even...
All good
The religious right reads that comment from the WaPo commenter and then smiles at their success.

No, it isn't. Any more than if you put poison into some food while someone is in another country, but they eat it and die after they arrive here.
The baby was alive, then died because of mom's willing and intentional actions. The legal protections possessed by the girl when mom acted are irrelevant to the murder change, what matters is her legal status when she died.
And that legal status was "living human being"
Please, for the world’s sake, choose celibacy if you think killing off a 5-6 mos old baby is something you believe you have every right to do and consider the lack of that right akin to rape. We don’t need you to reproduce.
