"I might be a Democrat, but in this specific case, the president is absolutely correct to do these kinds of actions."

Senator Fetterman: "I'd like to remind my colleague over in the House that Iran massacred 30,000 of their own people.... This war is not about the Iranian people. It's about this poisonous regime. And that's why I'm proud to stand with our military. I'm proud to stand with Israel. I might be a Democrat, but in this specific case, the President is absolutely correct to do these kinds of actions. And now we have Israel's back. And now, that's why it's entirely the path for peace in that region. How many treaties? How much negotiation? I never thought they would work. Iran has only ever responded to these kinds of thing[s]. And now, here we are right now, and we have the opportunity. Real peace. And to change their way committed to trying to destroy Israel and destabilizing the entire region."

Fetterman is a little brain damaged, and I like the ring of truth in the unusualness of his expression. I like: "And now, here we are right now."

My favorite D. I have changed my mind. If I lived in PA, I would vote for him over the R for senate. Even though I would agree more with the R than the Big Man.

Fetterman isn’t in on the Iran graft.

I don't see anything wrong with now, here we are right now. But then maybe I'm more than a little brain damaged.

But Fetterman stands alone among the Dems.

The Iranian regime is no more "evil" than China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, or any number of countries. This isnt about "Democracy" its about protecting Israel from Iranian missiles. Go watch Tucker Carlson's last show. Or listen to Jeffrey Sachs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=589h8qhNRY4

PJ - the problem with Fetterman is he still votes with the D's most of the time.
I see no sign of Fetterman supporting the SAVE act.
Deal killer. Best to vote R.

Tucker Carlson is a grifter.

It's telling that a Democrat can be improved by brain damage.

That's how every meeting should begin: here we are right now. Except for Bob, who's late. I worked in an office where we were all joking about the cliches of politicians and others. One favorite was "at this point in time," as if we were being briefed by Einstein. My colleague rang a change: "at this point in time and space." Wow. Is there anything you don't know?

Fetterman is a little brain damaged

Which is why he’s still a Democrat.

How confident are people that this venture will be successful. Asking unarmed Iranian citizens to fight the Iranian revolutionary guard and military-about 500k total-seems like a big ask. Add to that no internet and thus little communication and coordination.

Sending in ground troops could make all the difference but that’s not happening

There can be more than one reason to do something. The more reasons the more imperative the action. Yes, Israel is one reason, just like someone climbing over your wall is not an immediate danger to you in your house, but it's enough reason to let the guard dog out.

This small drip of reasonableness will be washed away by the flood of stupidity we can expect from Fetterman’s Dem colleagues who will never acknowledge Obama’s contribution to the Ayatollah’s reign of terror.

Peachy said...

Iran's Islamic supremacist religious zealot authoritarian regime is a terrorist regime. To Israel and to its own people.

The hope is that in the ongoing carnage and loss of command control, people will switch sides, weapons will become available, capable people hiding will come out. It's not a sure thing, but it's probably the best chance they will ever get. I sure as hell am not going to give failure any help by blowing it's horn. That serves no good cause at this point. If you are hoping Trump fails, you need to think about what you are actually for.

MadTownGuy said...

If I weren't against it in principle, I'd switch parties to vote for Fetterman in the primary. PA has closed primaries, which I prefer, but I hope the other candidates on the (D) side lose bigly.

The President told the Iranian people to wait until we are done bombing, and then take over.

The borders will be open soon. The US and Israel will truck in weapons for selected leaders. Then they attack the dead enders in the IRGC. The Crown Prince will be in Tehran soon. I wish there was a Kalshi contract on that.

Easy money to be made on Kalshi since the Supreme Leader is dead and that’s not priced in yet.

“This isnt about "Democracy" its about protecting Israel from Iranian missiles.” Once again, RC’s antisemitism clouds judgment. Who cares about “democracy”? Also, Israel has protected itself from Iranian missiles for decades. Iran is a murderous, terrorist regime committed to “Death to America”, funded by clandestine oil sales that is pursuing nukes to equip ICBMs. The attacks, even if ill-advised, are about that and liberty for the Iranian people.

Kalshi doesn’t accept bets that terminate on death. For obvious reasons.

Trading paused on Kalshi. But I’m still rich!

If the Democrats really wanted to impeach the President for allegedly starting a major war without Congress, they would. Aside from Israel's Senator turning on them, the Schumers and Schiff really don't want to vote against an impeachment of President Trump. And OH BOY is that going to cause them problems.

steve uhr said...

Dave - I don’t think that’s happening. Ho many ground troops would that take. How many weapons? You do realize that Iran is about the size of Alaska.

It's never not funny that the only sane leftist in our government has brain damage.

Repeating ‘now’ with ‘right now’ isn’t a symptom of brain damage. It’s the way people talk. Like “the question is: is.[rather,] are children learning.” Or to be fair “the significance of the passage of time.” Or any of Trump’s unfiltered riffs that sound better than they read. People don’t generally speak in perfect Warriner’s sentences.

It is interesting that we see what we want to see in such real speech imperfections. Is W a nincompoop or a Yalie who thinks faster than he can talk? Is Kommie-Lay an idiot or just a very smart person trying and failing to sound like a genius? Is Trump a dribbling near-dement or just a guy who says what he thinks? How much is Fetterman’s injury still affecting him? Etc. CC, JSM

This morning I flipped back and forth between CNN and Fox. Interesting contrasts in political guests' viewpoints. CNN had Sen. Kim (D-NJ) and Rep. Moulton (D-MA). Their comments were solely small-ball domestic politics - "Trump lies", "we weren't notified", "Congress didn't authorize", "no explanation of legality", "Trump taking orders from Netanyahu", etc.

Fox had Sen. Fetterman (D-PA), and Mullin (R-OK) whose comments were global. Fetterman framed it in terms of getting rid of "a poisonous regime" and supporting Israel. Mullin discussed in terms of geopolitical potential - a more stable Mideast, reduced threats to Europe, a sidelined Russia, more US focus on larger threats in Asia.

An extraordinary gap on display.

Though I'm not enthusiastic about this war, I like Fetterman. I hope to be able to vote for him again.

Congress delegated war to the President in 1950. Congress hasn’t declared war since 1942.

Too busy grifting and doesn’t want to take responsibility.

Okay--so our host says Fettermani is a little brain damaged. That's what distinguishes him from the pack of left wing progressive Democrats who are simply crazy. Sometimes a little brain damage will correct deep seated neuroses and allow a person to see reality.

During the last days of Diane Feinstein, when in serious in cognitive decline, she'd still have supported Trump. Maybe there's truth to the notion that only the most obviously cognitively challenged Democrats think clearly?

But then, Sleepy Joe, Krazy Kamala, and The Squad upend that thought. The Party is rotten to the core.

Lucien said...

There might be something to the idea that nearly getting his brains blown out changed Trump. Perhaps he feels regret about not taking this kind of action during the recent widespread protests in Iran, and now he’s trying to make it up to them.

Kaisen Asediu made a good point: For those fearing WW3 - one of the reasons for striking Iran’s nuclear facilities last year was to test the resolve of Russia and China. How they reacted told us everything we needed to know.
