So I sat in on Texas A&M Prof Peterson's Zoom about his Platonic texts being cancelled. It hadn't sunk in on me that he's Swedish. So listening to him was kind of like the Muppet chef. Anyway, as many of us predicted, he didn't go too deep into who decided to cancel his texts and why. He just blamed it on the TX state policy. He did mention that some high TAMU administrator studiously avoided him as they both walked across a quad. I'm betting that was so they wouldn't get photographed smiling at each other and endanger the con.
Boalt Hall dean Erwin Chemerinsky was also on the panel. He devoted his time to castigating all the schools that have rolled over for Trump, rather than fighting him like Harvard.
Another panel member was the Assistant Provost for DEI at DePaul. She had an interesting take: she reminded us that the university is not really about freedom of speech, but about transmitting the body of knowledge of an academic field. This might be a better legal argument against Trump. Lots of reasons why a university using federal funds doesn't have full freedom of speech. But if you say you're following the standards of your field, then it becomes a case about trying to force a car mechanic to be a plumber. Not that I believe that argument - just that it might have more relative persuasive power.
So wasn't a complete waste of time. CC, JSM
Nice work, Meade.
John "Cougar" Mellencamp was on Rogan today. Pretty cool. In the middle of a riff about how he used to start fights for fun as a young guy, he said "hey, I grew up in a small town. Not much to do in a small town."
I still don't know if he was doing that as a wink-wink-nudge-nudge, or just as a coincidence.
Kind of like when I read a piece about the B52s, interviewed in Athens GA, and Kate Pierson told the author, "Let's go to Allen's!" CC, JSM

What's the real difference between most of us and Donald Trump? When someone screams "pedophile protector," most of us know it's not directed at us.
We don't feel personally attacked. We don't need to respond. We don't spend the next hour rage-tweeting about it. Most people just keep walking. Trump, apparently, cannot.

Liberals now seem to think it's perfectly OK to follow official vehicles.
It's not. Sort of like it isn't OK to just follow anyone's vehicle. It's stalking. Never looked up any laws about it- but I guarantee if I (or Ann or you) were to notice someone tailing me and I made a few turns to verify- that no one would actually make unless shaking a tail, and then called 911 to report and told the dispatcher what was going on, and gave them my route and location they'd dispatch a vehicle and pull them over. In fact, I've done it.
Now if you're following an unmarked police law enforcement vehicle ON A MISSION, because your ICE app or whatever identified the vehicle as engaging in illegal alien apprehension, other things come into play. For example, they may be heading out to apprehend a known violent ARMED offender. And if you're following them on a mission a second car might alert the bad guy, ESPCIALLY if that's your intention. That endangers everyone. Especially the agents. If they notice you're following, they're going to do something.
Happened today in a non-sanctuary state. CBP and federal marshal. They stopped, the liberal a-holes stopped behind them. Agents got out, approached the car an asked what they were doing and got the BS response they were legal observers and had every right... ta da ta da ta da. Refused to hand over ID, then refused to get out of the car. Insurance isn't going to pay for their broken driver's side window, and it hurts being dragged through a broken window. Because once they break the window- the driver is exiting through it, not through an open door. The passenger decided to get out...
Once turned over to locals for processing, agents went on their way to serve warrants and make arrests. The "legal observers" got to observe up close how the legal system works.
If you're not doing it yourself and not associated with someone doing it, you have no clue what's going on in the military, or immigration and border control enforcement, or even local police actions. You only get news reports, usually biased against law enforcement.
Federal law enforcement personnel at all agencies are 100% fully aware of what they are and are not allowed to do. And they are now fully backed up by the administration they work for. They're not going to be investigated and prosecuted for whipping illegal border crossers because they were handling the reins on their horse.
By the way, neither myself nor any of my military and former military family members were surprised none of the military members involved in the Venezuela operation questioned their orders nor leaked them. How about you?

Downtown SF decline -
The last remaining tenants at SF's downtown Westfield mall have been evicted. The new owners are a consortium of Deutsch Bank and JP Morgan. Its unclear what they intend to do with it. It (with the former Nordstroms attached) is an enormous commercial space, the largest mall east of the Mississippi. Imho also by far the grandest mall in the US in its heyday, and a real destination on Market Street, across from the Cable Car stop.
Its sad, personally, because this was our go-to mall for all family business. Take the kids to the movies and grab lunch, buy Asterix and Tin Tin at B Daltons, birthdays and graduations, et al. The other big SF Mall was Stonestown by the beach, but that was a short drive, the Westfield was a short hop on BART. It was one of those things that made us SF residents a village. One less.
"Its unclear what they intend to do with it."
If they leave the doors open, the homeless can get out of the weather when they're taking a crap.
Last night’s Gutfeld show took about 12 minutes to remember Scott Adams. I hadn’t known how much influence he’d had, or what a difference he’d made in the lives of others, including Greg Gutfeld. One would have had to have been small-minded indeed to shun Scott’s message and ideas.
Just remember, if you're an American taking $10,000 in cash down to the auto auction to buy a car, the Police CAN and WILL steal if from you. They'll just take it right off you. All legal like.
But Somalian hood rats can carry MILLIONS OF STOLEN US DOLLARS right through TSA and face no scrutiny whatsoever.
So when you get up to go to work tomorrow, remember where your FICA deduction from your paycheck is going: Somalia.
You work hard for those hood rats, suckers.

I've worked with a LOT of National Guard people, In California and mainly Western States. An amazing proportion are in energy industries.
The threat to call out the Guard in Minnesota is toothless, due to sociological reality. The rank and file are conservative, or "right wing", almost to a man, and that is in California. I don't imagine there will be eager obedience to a left wing state government in case of a politically loaded crisis.
Invisible person? Hmm... When does Meade start drinking?
My daughter clued me in to "Between two ferns" hilarious.
In other words, Walz's threat to call out the legions wont work because the legions are inherently disloyal (to his government). They would, instantly, rally to Caesar (Trump) instead.
And this goes for all States IMHO.
Over 3 million people were deported during Obama's 2 terms. Did anybody even notice? Of course not, they didn't turn our cities into combat zones. And, they didn't murder anyone either, let alone someone in broad daylight, on a public street, with at least a half dozen videos from every angle. That is because they operated the way a reasonable American would expect them to.
They researched who was here illegally, used measured and safe means to find and detain people. I am sure they used tactics more like what you are seeing today on the true murderers and felons.
buwaya, Westfield Mall is really a LONG way east of the Mississippi. Going that way Destiny USA in my area beats it by quite a bit.
Don't you just hate typos that spell check can't catch? I do.
Er, west.
Word of the Day: Gimmigrant. (Give us your money, infidel suckas, and keep your laws to yourself.)
Deportees in Obamas day were nearly all "caught" at the border and turned back there. The Biden/Mayorkas policy that allowed many millions in, with 1-3 years lead time, spread them throughout the US, making enforcement extremely difficult.
Swedish troops just arrived too. Would be amazing if after 80 years Sweden joins NATO just in time to have to defend Greenland from the US (Trump administration) .

If a person shows up to an official Port of Entry, but is told to go back to Mexico, is that a deportation? Yes, it was during Obama's regime. Know what else that prick lied about? Detention of children in cages, he and the Rapist Clinton were rabid child detainers. But all the Lefty's shan't believe it. The problem with Democrats is there's so much they know that just isn't true.

Johnny Cougar starting fights?! IIRC, when he started out, he had the same manager as Bowie… Tony DeFries was his name. Don’t know how old he was then, but he looked like a little teenaged chipmunk in a black leather jacket. He looked like he couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper sack. Not a fan of his music.
But I have to say when I saw he and his band open for Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan in 2009, he put them both to shame.
I guess the Democrats just didn't give a shit about their "neighbors" when Obama was kicking them out. Do you really think they do now?

Many male commenters on this blog attribute the animosity that many women feel toward men to feminism. But the mention of Diana Rigg the other day made me think the animosity toward men may have a different origin.
Diana Rigg’s Emma Peel in The Avengers pioneered the TV heroine who could beat men in fights, setting a template that grew through the 1970s and 1980s with characters like Ellen Ripley (Alien) and Sarah Connor (Terminator). This created a popular myth: with enough training, women could physically match men in combat. These role models are seen as empowering, but they are not - because they are based on a fiction.
In reality, average biological differences give men a clear edge in raw physical fights.
That fiction influenced culture and policy. When real-world tests (like military studies) showed persistent disparities, the disconnect bred resentment among women who had bought into the myth of full physical equality, only to encounter a different truth in the real world. I don’t think men bought into the myth, but they went along to get along. It’s an axiom - or it should be - that unearned privileges breed resentment among all parties.
This bitterness toward men (as the “embodiment” of the unyielding reality) has fueled much of the modern animosity between men and women.

If we had a functioning art community this fight for Greenland would make a fantastic comedy. Isn’t Germany sending 13 (13 really is the perfect number comedy wise) to Greenland? But the comedy would have to be even handed and that’s just not within the realm if possibility.

I suspect a sizable number went along to get some, Eva Marie.
It’s just a suspicion…
"...As an Uber driver, I'm familiar with these types of rides. They don't pay well, to the drivers I mean. ..."
Now imagine the pay when you're sitting at home, billing for work that is completely imaginary, driving 10 different imaginary virtual routes at once.
I figured they were like talking, blaster wielding racoons or bullet-dodging nerds. Entertainment. As to the bitterness --team sports. But I could be wrong.

What I find interesting is that the chant leaders with the megaphone were women. But the crowd is 90% male.
My guess: The women are the ones getting the training from the far left in how to be insurrectionists. The women are getting the training because they are white women, and the least likely to be arrested when they're disruptive. Just guessing, but the men are all wage earners and have been dragged out to this. It was either this or a chick flick.
The women leading the “disruptive” charge is basically a play on the very western idea that men won’t, or at least, not supposed to harm women.
I think it’s also meant to “humanize” the crowd - so it doesn’t seem to be just a mob of thugs.
Sorry i cant sleep. And I think you know the problem: Greenland. Whither Greenland. The apple of the universe. The pivot of world history. The Great white slug between Iceland and North America.
Hopefully, the Greenlanders will be OK. And this crisis shall pass.
White liberal women, the group most easily propagandized and led by communist cadre, are performing well for the left.
None of this is new. It has been this way since Antifa existed in Germany and Russia in the 30's.
This time, no one wants to admit who and what these fools are, and what they are attempting.
Immigration Law is federal, and Congress decides. If they wanted to change the law, they could have done so anytime in the last 30 years.

'Happy New Year to Iranians and Mossad agents beside them,' Mike Pompeo says in social media post - Jerusalem Post

The tweet:
The Iranian regime is in trouble. Bringing in mercenaries is its last best hope.
Riots in dozens of cities and the Basij under siege — Mashed, Tehran, Zahedan. Next stop: Baluchistan.
47 years of this regime; POTUS 47. Coincidence?
Happy New Year to every Iranian in the streets. Also to every Mossad agent walking beside them...
One side says that the regime is collapsing due to Iranian unhappiness with it, and the other side says that the twelve day war has unified Iranians behind the government, with all its flaws, and led millions of pro-government counterprotests to take to the streets.
This is one of those stories that allows you to note what people say, and wait, and evaluate credibility when the truth comes out.

Wow, Senator, how many times did you vote forDHS appropriations bills that included ICE/HSI? They can work any dollar that crosses the border, physically, electronically, by hawwala, etc.
And yes you can work a lot of a fraud case from your laptop, but eventually you have to get on the street and put the Jane’s grabbus on the fraudsters. Denmark and Greenland already give the U.S. basically unlimited military access under the 1951 Defense Agreement—rent-free bases like Pituffik, free movement of forces, and the right to expand for NATO security needs. We can deploy whatever assets we want.Security arguments are pure nonsense. Trump doesn't want to protect Greenland—he wants to own it.
Happy New Year to every Iranian in the streets. Also to every Mossad agent walking beside them...
Undoubtedly true, but at this highly fraught juncture, not something a friend of either the Persians or Jews would say publicly from his position of prominence.
Pompeo is a disappointing RINO swamp-rat that I used to think so much better of. I'm guessing he's getting a nice bundle of baksheesh, and was put up to saying this by his Qatari paymasters.
I was at "WHOloween" on Oct. 31, 1982 at Sun Devil Stadium. Mellencamp was opening for the Who, along with Loverboy, who sucked. Mellencamp rocked the place but the crowd was impatient for the main event. I saw him take a Jack Daniels bottle to the noggin tossed from about 100 feet away. It was thrown hard, too. Lacerated his scalp and he bled like a pig. Went offstage, got it sewn up and bandaged for five minutes or so, and came back on stage to sing "Hurts So Good." It was legendary. His political opinions are the usual half-baked left wing showbiz horse shit, but he's a mensch in my book.
