The irony of protesting legislative enforcement at the house of legislative production.
The students' leftist union-member teachers have indoctrinated them well. Bonus: the teachers get another day off to protest/obstruct.
But to me, a question lingers: Why?
The real absurdity is that the students need to be in high school to learn about the Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution) establishing that the Constitution, federal laws, and treaties are the "supreme Law of the Land," superseding any conflicting state laws. Nothing that the state legislature can do will affect this, unless they attempt to secede from the Union.

Fun with statistics. Trump has more criminal detentions, but a smaller percentage of detentions are criminals. Thrums criminal detentions are about 3 times what Biden did. Now, how do you get so many criminals? Do you surgically target them so that it takes more resources per detainee or do you do broader sweeps to get more but the dragnet catches more non-criminal illegals?
Biden (2021–2025): Annual arrests of convicted criminals averaged ~64,000–93,000, with a focus on targeted enforcement (e.g., serious offenders). Total detentions were lower overall (~200,000–300,000 annually), so criminals made up a higher percentage but fewer in raw numbers.

I was working yesterday to fix some things on my very old Chevy Silverado pickup truck that I still keep because I need it to carry firewood and things to the dump. It was hard, and it hurt. So I have quite a few bruises on my hands and arms today. But I didn't shoot anyone in the face, or use those bruises to justify shooting someone in the face.
I used to be a proponent of the idea that Logic was a sign of a divine creator, not something that can happen by chemical reactions. But the evidence can sometimes be strong for the other side given the absolute insane reasoning chains that people on the left use. Apparently logic is a part of natural selection and those with a defective gene in that area are selected out, eventually.
The proximate cause of Renee Good being shot apparently is because an ICE officer got a bruise. I guess that can work in a chaos theory sort of way. That of course takes away all moral agency from the process. Bruises can sometimes result in face shots, but that is just a random particle response ruled by the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.

The description of the officer's injuries is coached in rather vague terms. I'd interpret it as: Yep, got hit by car. Not on the hip but somewhere abdomen or lower chest. Visible bruising. You can't tell right away if there is more going on inside (ruptured spleen is the classic). In hospital a short while during which time CT scan and perhaps a few other things are done. Certainly more than enough to debunk the leftist narrative that he was not hit at all, or that it was trivial. If there were more significant internal injuries he'd have been kept longer, probably needed surgery, and if the people in charge of messaging had any degree of competence, the injuries would be specified. (I used to be in this line of work)

Well, yeah. It does not appear, that those are things they believe. So, it is not surprising that they do not eagerly affirm them. From the replies I got to this post, some of y'all need a tutorial in the diagnosis and management of blunt trauma injuries. While I'm not a doctor, this is something I know a bit about from both book study and some grim personal experience.
So. Jonathan Ross got hit by a 2-ton SUV traveling at low speed. We know it was low speed, because if it weren't, he would be dead and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
The effect of that kind of collision is a lot like being whanged by an oversized baseball bat. This is not trivial shit, not just "bruising". Yes, technically muscle bruising can be classified as internal bleeding, and sometimes it is when there's deep injury to a major muscle. But that's not the way to bet when you see a trauma report that says "internal bleeding".
Yes, you can be ambulatory after that, and he was, but this is a category of injury that can and not infrequently does kill you later even if adrenaline powers you through the prompt effects.
The problem is that the damage from internal bleeding is cumulative, subtle, and hard to diagnose from the outside unless you get really obvious symptoms like blood in your stool. I nearly died from this once myself, which is how I know about this.
So he went straight to the emergency room. Standard protocol is to put him under close observation and do some diagnostic imaging. If he's bleeding badly enough to have trouble standing, it's surgery time - you need to go in, find the bleeders and repair them.
Fortunately Ross wasn't injured that badly. But don't make any mistake about this, anytime you have viscera injury you were only a few pounds of applied force from death. It's plain blind luck that Good didn't kill him.
You don't want to surgically intervene if you don't have to, because the trauma from the surgery can be as bad or worse than the injury. So you keep him under observation for a while and then you send him home with instructions to self-monitor for indications that the internal bleeding has become serious. Indications: blood in the stool, bloating, persistent abdominal pain.
If he survives 48 hours without increased symptoms, he'll probably be okay and no further treatment required. I think this period is already past us. But believe me, he's going to be under instructions to take it easy and not stress the bleeders for at least a week.

I think john mosby is right about there being a continuum of thought from true believers through those who simply want power. I wouldn't discount that many, especially from the Boom generation, feel that Democrat control of the country is their birthright. Thinking about the period when they were establishing themselves in power. Democrats had dominated the federal government for a quarter century before their births and successfully navigated a great national crisis. They would continue to dominate the national legislature and many state governments for another quarter century, along with setting the general tone of government policy. The Boomer's emergence on the political scene coincided with the resignation in disgrace of a Republican president. Then they watched as it all fall apart with Reagan-GHWB controlling the Presidency for over a decade and, just as one of their generation reached the pinnacle of power in the Presidency, their counterparts in the GOP broke the Democrat hold on the national legislature and state governments. There are few things as stylized and mundane as a teacher organized protest by high school kids.
You can always count on high school students to get hot and bothered if it means they get a field trip and a day out of the classroom. What the heck 67 years or so ago I was a reporter on the high school paper in the San Diego suburbs. I got to go downtown to "cover" a protest march re Caryl Chessman's impending execution. Some things never change.
So was this an unexcused absence, meaning they were fervent enough to accept consequences, or was this "yay, skip classes and go the Capital without any consequences"?
