Elon Musk laughs at a prison rape joke.

Shameful.

Is it really a rape joke, or a joke that the only sex Maduro's going to have from now on is with pervs like Diddy? I think the two of them are evenly matched if it came down to one trying to force sex on the other. Diddy's smaller but in better shape; Maduro is a real gangsta, not a guy who just sings about it. I used to work with a child psychiatrist (almost 50 years ago) who threatened recalcitrant boys in front of their cowardly parents with sending them to juvenile detention. He would call out to the staff, "Bring me the broomstick, so Johnny can see what it's like in juvie".

I guess they did not have baby oil there.

Nothing shameful about it. This is plain old raunchy male humor. Women like the professor should understand that their opinion on it is irrelevant. It's not for them. No more than combat humor is. Don't like it, too bad.

Yeah, prison rape is a really funny joke. Ha ha ha!! I was a criminal prosecutor for 20 years and sent many a guy to prison, and my brother was a prison guard. The reality is brutal and sometimes fatal. Much worse than what Andy Defresne endured in The Shawshank Redemption. But hey, for MAGA it is really funny. Ha, ha, ha!!!

Bending that tyrant over with baby oil seems nice.

Re: John Mosby…

The 2016 post you are referring to was: "5 stages of GOP grief: Coming to terms with Trump.”

Althouse begun with “The "5 stages of grief" meme is so trite,…” and addressed how the conservatives at the time were hyperventilating little bitches at the thought of Trump (my words there, not hers, but close enough).

My comment at the time riffed on the ‘5 stages’ template, and was:
___
The Five Stages of the Prison Shower.

I am not going to get fucked in the ass.

I am NOT going to get fucked in the ass!

Please don't fuck me in the ass.

Oh God, I'm going to be fucked in the ass.

I guess that wasn't so bad.

The National Review pretends they are at Stage Two, but are actually at Stage Four.
___

Sad that I have to explain, but: the joke is in the National Review punchline.

But —from 2026 and looking at the NR Chicken Littles crowd and the Ben Shapiros et all now — they are now at 'stage five' at times, and I f@ckin' called it.

Oh give it a rest. Of course I engaged in prosecutorial discretion every single day of my 20 year legal career. I was the prosecutor who gave a guy a second and even a third chance, often to my chagrin. But sometimes the law mandates a minimum sentence, and some of them deserve their full sentence. Every case in unique and based on the particular facts and circumstances. But even when the defendants were sentenced to prison, I never took any sadistic joy or pleasure in it, which is what most MAGA people here approve of.

Somebody is misremembering. This is the original Don’t Drop the Soap post:
September 10, 2015
"Don't Drop the Soap is a controversial prison-themed board game designed by art student John Sebelius as a 2006 class project at the Rhode Island School of Design."
"The game received criticism for its content, most notably for the game's treatment of prison rape. Sebelius also received notice for being the son of Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and U.S. Magistrate Judge K. Gary Sebelius. The game officially went on sale on January 31, 2008 in Lawrence, Kansas and through Sebelius' personal website, and is considered to be similar to Monopoly in its gameplay."

January 2008 — that was just as Kathleen Sebelius was going up for confirmation. The Washington Post had an article — "Game Changer: John Sebelius" — quoting him: "We both recognize she has a job to do and I have a job to do. It’s reciprocal of being prideful of your family and making sure everyone knows where my intentions were with the game. There was no ill will when the game was created; that’s why the support was there. It’s definitely reciprocated. I don’t see her having a problem getting confirmed."

Male rape jokes punch up: the strong are made weak. One of the key ingredients of humor. I bet a certain amount of people found the Abu Ghraib pics funny, because if you are going to sexually humiliate anyone, why not sexually humiliate men from one of the most anti-woman cultures?

Female rape jokes punch down and make the weak weaker. Make one and you are driven from polite society. Even/especially if you make it about a powerful woman.

Unless you put it between the covers of a romance novel. But even then it’s not a joke, it’s deadly serious: that damsel really has fallen in love with her ravisher.

It takes what the Dalai Lama would call an advanced spiritual practitioner to realize that men can be weak and hurting them is not funny either.

But the Maduro/Diddy AI isn’t even about rape. It’s about being propositioned by a strange little man. Which I think we can all agree is funny. CC, JSM

Yeh, and some 1,000+ of them were tried, convicted, and served time in prison for protesting the stolen 2020 election. Called an “insurrection” to get sympathy, the protesters ALL left their guns behind. It was done with lying FBI agents and lying prosecutors who denied them, among other things, their Brady rights. 275 undercover FBI agents in the crowd who knew? Prosecutors just like you, just doing their jobs. And, no doubt, many of them raped in prison that these supposedly honorable prosecutors sent them to.

So, no, don’t joke about prison rape with MAGAs, not after the 1/6 prosecutions.

Ref Abu Ghraib: The very first thing that happens to you in the military - really, before you're even in, at the MEPS Station, is you get crammed in your boxer shorts in a room with 50 other guys. That was me in the 1980s. Earlier generations were fully naked. Part of this is for efficiency in the medical exams and shots. Part is just to start acculturating you to a world where you don't matter very much. No one cares if it's too cold for you, or you don't like exposing yourself, or that guy over there really likes exposing himself, etc. Plus the shock effect helps the small number of military administrators and medics to control the large number of recruits.

In prisons and long-term jails, the new inmates drop all their kit to get fully searched and issued prison kit. Same sort of thing.

The night shift guards at Abu Ghraib got left there with little supervision, training, or SOPs. And guess what: Arab civilization has many great achievements, but one of them is not an internalized rule-following queueing-up culture. Arabs will swarm all over a place if not given very strict non-negotiable rules. This is why they make great entrepreneurs. Would have been very easy for the prisoners to walk all over these kids. Literally. The guards improvised based on what they knew. Keep the prisoners in a state of humiliation so that they don't get a chance to exploit their greater numbers. CC, JSM

I can't grasp why anyone would use this occurrence as the basis of a joke. This sort of thing makes me think of Lara Logan and Abner Louima. Obviously I do get that the context of the joke is bad people in prison, not people like Logan/Louima/Trippe (not a real person). Still, rape is never humorous to me.
