AI is getting pretty good, no?

People are amazing. Though it does raise the question, "Why?"

Are these guys with amazing and rare talent or is carrying stuff on your head part of the culture? In Botswana those sos foot tall women carry big heave baskets on their heads like they are nothing…

So THAT's why flattop hair cuts were created.

Unbelievable. I mean that guy running who couldn't either wait, or couldn't take the stairs on the other side of the railing.

The Vault Dweller said...

That was incredible. Also that one guy towards the beginning who was jogging down and squeezed by on the side is kind of an A-hole.

Jamie said...

Nothing like starting the day feeling totally inadequate...

I also was shocked by the guy who squeezed past. I mean, maybe he was already starting down, with no thought that they were about to do what they did - but still, flatten yourself against the side, man!

rehajm said...

Don’t harsh the other guy, it’s like I asked- maybe this is common where this is…

Impressive to carry that much weight at that pace climbing that many stairs with uniform posture. Thighs must’ve been burning.

He was wearing what Dominicans call a babonuco.
Google: "Babonuco" refers to both a traditional Dominican item—a ring/pad (rodete) for carrying heavy loads on the head.

Was that cheating? I’m going to invoke cruel neutrality.

The small gathering above didn’t seem all that impressed, perhaps doubting its viral potential.

I was amazed.

A new Olympic event. Combine timing and acrobatic aesthetics.

They should have used the stairs from the Exorcist.

The uncanny valley element is the splits.

even if that thing on his head helped with the balance - ah,
he carried his brother/ friend - up 3 long flights of steps. On his head. That is crazy. I love it.

I'm blessed my people use their heads in other ways ...
You can do it. Africans are not just pack animals or "sports" entertainers... They're thinkers too. Post those videos, professor? Don't stereotype like this?

When I was a kid I went to the circus and watched two guys in silk pajamas do that knife point to knife point, or so we were told…

I'd be more amazed if they got degrees from college and great jobs or joined the military had rose up in rank or, well, lots of things other than balancing on someone's head.

Smilin' Jack said...

That’s the easy part. Going down would be harder.

I thought they were conjoined, until the last second

Really?

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "giving head"

Something I used to see at the circus before PETA and their underlings shut them down.

I unironically believe that all the things you listed are easier to accomplish than the feat the two men performed. Certainly your items are more beneficial for them and society at large (50/50 on the college degree), but amazement is linked to rarity and difficulty of the feat no?

Ah, So stairs in Sydney. Reminded me of a number of wonderful stair hills in San Francisco, when we lived there 20+ years ago.

There is no way these people could be in this country legally. Hopefully Christie Noem we'll have them arrested and sent to a prison in El Salvador.

Kevin said...

It’s easier if one of them wears a pussyhat.

Calling Cirque de Soleil.

The guy who did the walking--I want to know how tall he was when they started and how tall when they finished.

WTF, that guy at the beginning!? Just runs right by and hardly looks at them. At least pause a moment to watch (maybe they'll fall and get hurt and he could have a nice laugh).

Amexpat said...

Impressive, but not as impressive as balancing a mattress on a bottle of wine.

Who was the famous Roman who allegedly put a calf on his shoulders and carried it, day after day, until it grew into a bull and he could still carry it?

MadisonMan said...

Now do it backwards and in high heels.

What's the big deal? I was late for class.

Use to be:
"No pics? didn't happen."

Now in the brave new world of AI it's:
"Oh you have pics, do you? Didn't happen."

Did you notice the fence of sharp pointed spikes right next to the stairs? That's motivation to make it.

JB and the blonde

Erika Kirk is working to become the next First Lady. She endorsed JB to become our next President. Erika is Christian, and Usha Vance, as Second Lady, is likely on her way out since she is Hindu, which makes JB unhappy.
