We dodged a bullet here. Weather dot com says it’s snowing here in the Shenandoah Valley, but the freeze line must be north of me because what I see out the window is a heavy rain.

Thanks to the Professor, the MAX Daylight app now features the "Althouse Percent", prominently displayed in the upper left corner of the sun panel, the first below the main light ring. It goes nicely with the "Reduced Complexity" option for those who like that.
While the calculation is easy in most circumstances, it's not easy in Reykjavik near the summer solstice. When sunset is before sunrise on a few days. Getting this right triggered an extensive rewrite of some internal logic and some UI features. Thanks again, Professor!

Coots harvest underwater plants and come back up to the surface to eat them. That's when widgeons rush up to the coots and steal their hard-earned food.

I love watching the coots. They remind me of middle schoolers with their squabbling but also need to travel in packs.
