Pinching lobsters. Hmm. They're the ones with the pincers.

Just reading the headlines in the British paper:

Here's the story: "The FBI is investigating after a truck carrying lobsters worth $400,000 was hijacked by a thief posing as a legitimate driver." How does a stolen truck make the front page? I guess it seems amusing that the truck was loaded with lobsters. That "s" on "lobsters" indicates they were living lobsters, but it says they were on their way to Costco, so I'm picturing what I would call "lobster" — no "s" — boxes of frozen lobster. I'd hate to have keep $400,000 worth of lobsters alive. Too complicated!

In other news... too bad for Harry and Meghan. They keep losing publicists. This latest loss "comes after Meghan and Harry attended a birthday party hosted by Kris Jenner, 70, the night before the UK marked Remembrance Sunday." Quite the gaffe.

I see a theme there in the headlines -- oxymorons. Muscling in on peace talks, PR fails, pinching lobsters. The lobsters were not amused. "Hey, that's our job." Maybe it's a British thing. They love scandals and outrage -- catharsis for their class system.
Like Americans love memes and are loving the Somalia memes. I'm seeing some very funny ones.

Meghan and Harry are being savvy cutting costs and saving money. They are doing an excellent PR job on their own... making us all sick of them.

I'm missing something: Why is it a gaffe?

I wonder what the extra “s” on “maths” indicates.

I thought since their American royalty gig wasn’t succeeding to their satisfaction they were going back to being British royalty? What did we do to deserve being stuck with them?

I wondered the same thing. From what I could find, it's because Remembrance Day is a solemn occasion and the party was over-the-top frivolous. Harry was criticized for wearing a poppy to the event and Meghan was criticized for not doing so.

I'm not a fan of the duchess, but I can't see the family criticizing her while still keeping Andrew around. She's merely attention-seeking tacky, not requesting diplomats provide hookers tacky.

There’s a name for people who feel the need to explain simple jokes: Captain Obvious.

Quite a party.

Amazing how the same people cluster together. Plus, carbon footprints don't matter because Kris was turning 70!

Conflicting information on the life status of the lobsters.

Do they ship and sell whole frozen lobsters? Tails, yes but whole animals doesn't seen advisable.

Selected Costco stores stock live lobsters. I googled it because of this story. I still don't know if the truck had live lobsters or not. $400,000 would be about 20,000 lobsters which seems like a lot for a truck. My father bought live lobsters from a guy who trucked them down from Maine into Upstate NY and Northern Pennsylvania on a regular schedule in the 60's. Truck was filled with styrofoam ice boxes each with ice and a dozen somnolent lobsters.

UPS hs their main shipping hub in Louisville KY. John McPhee had a whole chapter about it in one of his books.

One of the thing UPS does is rubs a huge lobster stabld(?).

Maine and Canadian lobster brokers ship large quantities to lvulle. UPS houses them in a bunch of tanks and as orders come in ships them out, live in small quantities to restaurants

It was pretty interesting the way McPhee told it. Of course paint drying is pretty interesting when McPhee tells about that.

So, if Harry is no longer royalty, having lost the 'HRH' title, and is no longer carrying out any official royal duties, again, why is it a gaffe for him to attend a birthday party the night before Remembrance Day? Marrying that fame-gobbling Yankee slattern, now there's a gaffe fitting for a Prince - at least, in that family.

You missed the big story: the end of the NYC Metrocard.
On my dresser I still have an old solid token. And the one with the "Y" cut out. And a Metrocard.
Boomer artifacts.

LOOK! SQUIRRELLLLLLLLL!

Don't see the BILLION $$$$ tax money being stolen by the imported thief Somalians Donald Trump continues to allow inside our country.

Dr Weevil said...

Speaking of squirrels, here's FLC using ambiguous language to suggest things that are simply false. "Donald Trump continues to allow [Somalians] inside our country". In fact, Somalia is one of the countries Trump has banned all further immigration from: he has not continued to allow them to come in. As for the ones that are already here, that Biden let in: if they are legal immigrants they cannot be deported without a court-case and due process of law, which we know is on its way for the grifters and thieves.

"In fact, Somalia is one of the countries Trump has banned all further immigration from."

Donald Trump is doing PRECISELY what I said he is doing: He is allowing all of the Somalians already inside the United States literally emptying our national Treasury and shipping it back to the terrorists inside their own country to REMAIN INSIDE the United States to continue stealing all of our fucking tax dollars. Tax dollars that YOU IDIOT SAPS continue paying, but that I no longer contribute.

The problem isn't thieves. There have always been thieves.

The problem is Donald Trump sitting on his large ass and letting a bunch of fucking hood rats steal our country from us.

FLC lies again. Here's @shipwreckedcrew on Twitter, yesterday (link):
"This is a 35 minute press conference from 10 days ago where the Acting US Attorney in Minnesota describes his office's investigation into 14 social services programs operated by the State of Minnesota with federal tax dollars that are being investigated for fraud.
"10 days ago -- already looking at 14 different programs.
"Indictments have been obtained for 3 -- child meals, autism treatment, and housing assistance.
"But all the others are being looked at.
"Outrage porn peddlers here are playing you for engagement farming."
The Tweeter provides a link to the video if you want to watch the whole 35 minutes. I do hope if you "no longer contribute" taxes, that doesn't mean you're illegally evading them: you might end up with a Somalian cellmate.

And here's a Fox story with a lengthy quotation from Kash Patel, about all the investigations and indictments that were already being done in Minnesota before the viral video, with lots more to come: link.

Dead or Alive? Copilot AI tells me ...

"Here’s the breakdown from the reporting:

NBC News explicitly states the lobsters “were not alive”—but this appears to contradict multiple other outlets.

Fox32/ChicagoLIVE, Fox Business, The Hill, and BroBible all report the shipment as live lobsters headed from Taunton, Massachusetts to Costco stores in Illinois and Minnesota.

Given the weight of consistent reporting across several independent outlets, the shipment involved in the heist was live lobsters, despite NBC’s phrasing."

s'opihjerdt said...

Is $400,000 the value of a truckload of lobsters in Illinois, or in Massachusetts? I suspect that most of the value of midwestern lobsters is trucking costs.

But if the gas tank was full when the truck was stolen, it can go the whole way without filling up again.
