And we all wait to hear what race, ethnicity and political leanings the gunman is.

How do we know the perp identifies as a gunman?

So a number of people have been allegedly shot, several allegedly died.

“Alleged gunman?”

Who is the idiot at the NY Post who believes the gunman is "alleged."

The final examination periods for the current 2025-2026 academic year at Brown University are:

Fall 2025 (Semester I): Friday, December 12, through Saturday, December 20, 2025.

2 dead, 8 critically wounded, shooter still at large. Happened during exams at the Engineering and Physics building.

Suspect description so far is "male dressed in black." Really narrows it down. CC, JSM

Let me guess. This inexplicably happened in a gun free zone. How come the guns didn't follow the rules?

James K said...

And given recent shootings, even "male" is questionable.

MikeD said...

In today's "news" environment, every criminal is "alleged" to have committed the crime.

It's times like this you call men with guns to save people and end this, but we don't allow that anywhere near campus, so just hold on until we find some, and be very very quiet.

Quaestor said...

The Post used to be more forthright. When did they hire Jake Tapper?

bagoh20 said...

I believe that if you were allowed concealed carry on campus this would virtually never happen? It would happen somewhere, but not there.

Quaestor said...

"A crazed gunman dressed in black stormed an engineering building at Brown University, killing at least two people and critically injuring eight others before escaping police and remaining at large, officials said."

They've gone from "alledged" to "crazed". Did the police official use crazed, and if so how did he know? Or is this just the Post's online editor compensating for earlier wishy-washy reportage with a splash of yellow ink?

Alleged gunman.

Woah there NY Post. lets not jump to conclusions.

How stupid. 10 people shot. We're past the alleged part.

It's someone with a law degree. That's how you learn to think and write clearly... allegedly.

Quaestor said...

I don't understand your question mark, bagoh2o.

RCOCEAN II said...

Love how they give us the fact that its a man. (Pronouns unknown). But was he black? White? Purple? Why was he "crazed"? Bueller, Bueller, anyone?

Throw us a crumb.

RCOCEAN II said...

Anyway, this is what happens when you let rightwing gun toten' crazies dominate your Ivy League college. Hope the NRA opponents and the Left can gain some traction at Brown.

Quaestor said...

"It's someone with a law degree."

From Harvard obviously, given the syrupy logic behind "an alleged gunman".

bagoh20 said...

I do everything I can to make sure that wherever I go, if a bad or crazed man has a gun, he's not the only one.

bagoh20 said...

"I don't understand your question mark, bagoh2o."

There is no evidence that I put that there.

The shooting isn't "alleged."

The person accused of shooting is "alleged" to have done so.

The shooting actually happened. There is no "allegedly" about it. Two people aren't "allegedly" dead. They are "actually" dead.

This is clear evidence of the death of copy editors in the United States. These newspapers are run by fucking idiot children now who know nothing.

Things we don't know.

There are at least two dead. Have the FBI and local law enforcement been able to scour the building and the areas around it to confirm that there aren't more?

There are at least eight wounded. There are eight known to be in hospitals in critical condition, but could there be others with less serious injuries?

There is at least one gunman still on the loose. Does the FBI and does local law enforcement know for certain that there is no second (or even third) gunman?

FormerLawClerk said...

Things we DO know:

6 hours after the shooting, the University president held a press conference and couldn't answer basic questions about what happened inside a building on a campus that has 800 cameras pointed at everybody.

And yes, she's a woman. A completely unqualified women, trying and failing to do a man's job.

Aggie said...

Male police chief wasn't much of an improvement in answering questions. An almost incredible unfamiliarity with standard procedure, as well as spokesmanship.

Aggie said...

One of the many things that executive leadership teams do to earn their pay is to have expert training in crisis management, emergency response, and incident management, which includes being the public face of the corporation or institution. Usually there's a roster with rotating 'On Call' duty, where everybody gets to carry the assignment for a period, a structured arrangement for handling injuries, or severe weather, fire, civil unrest, etc etc, including public address and being the interface with the media. Amazing that the campus has 800 cameras but they say they haven't reviewed them yet.... Of course, 72 hour rule is a good one.

Big Mike said...

Two things that seem contradictory: one source claims that there are more than 800 security cameras on campus, while the Providence Police claim they have no video from inside the building and no information on how the gunman (or gummen) entered. If both are true then it speaks to an abysmal level of town-gown cooperation and coordination.

Achilles said...

Another mass shooting in a gun free zone.

I am shocked.

Mason G said...

There might be 800 cameras, but they don't appear to have anything to do with security. What are they *really* for?

Big Mike said...

And yes, she's a woman. A completely unqualified women, trying and failing to do a man's job.

@FormerLawClerk, that’s the downside of DEI, isn’t it? I’m certain that there are women capable of doing a good job as president of an Ivy Leage university, but the competent ones will be forced to overcome the impression that female presidents of Ivy League universities are necessarily unqualified, not particularly bright, plagiarists.

Ampersand said...

Odd that the university has been so close to the vest with contextual details. Were the victims taking a test, attending a class, joining a club, or sharing cups of coffee? Did none of the victims see the shooter? Enough time has passed. Somebody knows. All of this is consistent with the construction of a massive cya narrative. Very sad to see lives damaged in this way.

Iman said...

800 cameras on campus and no answers, no suspect in custody. W.T.F.

john mosby said...

There’s also been a mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia. Probably unrelated - or maybe the word has gone out on the jihadi web to do multiple simultaneous lone wolf attacks at Xmastime? CC, JSM

john mosby said...

Ref town/gown: yes, especially with the Ivies. Most of the university’s public safety efforts are geared toward protecting their people from real law enforcement. Even the kangaroo date rape processes, though they may unfairly expel some men, are in part meant to keep them from much harsher criminal consequences. So the idea that the school and city police would cooperate on anything is facially absurd to the school’s management. Until something like this happens. CC, JSM

I assume the "alleged" is there for the same reason the third comment here is "How do we know the perp identifies as a gunman?"

Sure, any particular person being the “gunman” is alleged—but that the shootings occurred, that's called “alleged”?

Alleged? Are we questioning whether a gunman shot these people?

Aggie said...

"...Police in Coventry, Rhode Island, confirmed that he was detained at around 3:45 a.m. on a hotel on Centre of New England Boulevard, but would not pinpoint which hotel...."

I'm assuming they meant 'at a hotel', unless he was up there shouting 'Top o' the world, Ma!' or something. Other reports say he could be in this 30s, maybe not a student? No names, yet. 2 dead, 9 injured.

Well. We know the shooter ain't white. If he/she was they would have led with that.

Reported at Powerline...

"The mass shooter at Brown University apparently has been caught. Authorities are extremely tight-lipped. They have said nothing about the murderer except that he is in his 20s. We don’t know whether he was connected to the university, nor has there been any hint as to a motive."

So- probably *not* a white, far-right Christian, then.
