What if Arlo Guthrie had sung "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and Gordon Lightfoot had sung "Alice's Restaurant"?

The Hey Man does the necessary impersonations:

@itstheheyman The target audience for this video is five people but I hope those people enjoy it. #arloguthrie #70smusic #folksinger #wreckoftheedmundfitzgerald #edmundfitzgerald ♬ original sound - The Hey Man

@itstheheyman By popular demand, I flipped this concept the other way. Tiktok muted the music so you guys get the vocal only version. Check @itstheheyman on Instagram for the same thing with music. #gordonlightfoot #alicesrestaurant #wreckoftheedmundfitzgerald #arloguthrie #70smusic ♬ original sound - The Hey Man

Bernard Bolan Australian lawyer by trade sings his "Not Many Fish", which owing to ballad form, always reminded me of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

"It's not bad enough that your ship is sinking, you also gotta be drizzly" is like the opposite of "always look on the bright side of life."

he nailed arlo and sets the formula to arlo pretty much anything. Later, after a scotch I’ll try it out on the group…

I was and am a huge Lightfoot fan. That song just leaves me cold.

Not as cold as those for whom the church bell chimed twenty-nine.

I do like the Arlo rewrite.

Spot on impersonations! Having spent my teenage years in Michigan and Ohio at the time of the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the song has always choked me up. And I saw Gordon Lightfoot in Cleveland in 1977. Also we went to the Soo Locks in 1974, and my Mom swore we saw the Edmund Fitzgerald go through the locks. The fact that my Dad had been a Merchant Mariner also made this song resonate with me.

Brilliant parodies. Mine was followed by a pretty girl showing me how to make mac and cheese (boil the pasta for 8 minutes), so I guess it gave me an overall fair representation of TikTok

I still want Alice.

If I watch these TikToks on my computer they wont pester me into downloading their app by hiding the muted button.
Be thankful for the seemingly insignificant. That's my motto, I just came up with.

Who is this intriguing Gordon Lightfoot?

Burton Cummings of the Guess Who did a short parody of i “if Gordon Lightfoot was a big fan of Rod Stewart” and performed Maggie Mae a la Gordon Lightfoot. It’s a hoot
