There are 3 groups where the majority approve of Trump — 2 are age groups and 1 is a racial group.

Rassmussen Reports this morning. I'll put it after the jump so you can enjoy puzzling and the surprise of being wrong about 2 of them... or maybe you won't be wrong now that I've nudged you to think twice:

The “Never Trump” crowd of disgruntled Republicans, like Bill Kristol and others, think Trump is so flawed that someone can’t possibly like him so he should be polling weakly. But liking him personally and liking his policies are two different worlds. Do I like all the snide remarks and insults? No. But I like a closed border, cutting government and the best Secretaries of State, Energy, Interior, Ag, etc that we’ve had in a long time.

The problem with these polls is that the number one predictor of "POTUS favorability" is party identification. The opposition party voters always dislike the sitting POTUS. Sometimes by a huge margin, sometimes by a smaller margin. The President's party members always love him. Usually.

The reason Bush 43 left with such ratings is because the GOP party members disliked him. instead of having the usual 70-80 percent "we like him" numbers, it dropped to 40 percent in 2008. This combined with the D's normal 80 percent dislike, mean history making unfavorables.

So, in order for the age group ratings to be accurate, the number of D, R, I's in each age grouping have to be correct. And so does the racial mix. I wonder if they do.

It is curious that there is so much variation between the age groups. Makes me wonder about the accuracy or if a different break down might be more informative. Maybe start with party membership by age group or maybe a running average.

Two things:
1) The 30-39 age group surprised me. But yes, they are entering their prime earning years and their family formation years. It is important to not vote for socialists during that time of life. Any time of life, really. But particularly when you're trying to secure a future.

2) The "Other" in racial groups. Is that Asian? I suspect so, but "Asian" is such a large general umbrella for a vast and varied group of people.

Derve said...

What the hell is "other"?
People who don't identify as any particular race, or are chameleons? JEWS? lol

Derve said...

My theory? The old people just have not caught on yet to the damage in our country, the 30 to 39 year olds are too busy working/trying to provide and are just PISSED. "Burn it all down" is the motto of that age group right now? (Their hormones are still naturally strong, and the resentment too...)

Left Bank of the Charles said...

What is the “Other” race? I’m guessing it’s some mix of Asian and people who won’t answer the race question. Most of that latter category would be white and overweighted with diehard Trump supporters. No surprise there.

tcrosse said...

Do I approve of Trump? Well, compared to what?

Left Bank of the Charles said...

The 30-39 age group would include people who are Jack Bennying their age - saying they are 39 when they are in fact much older (and more likely to be Trump supporters).

tommyesq said...

It looks to me like that is not an overall favorability rating, but instead just related to his performance last week. Given that the week was chock full of TRUMP IS A PEDO and TRUMP WANTS LITTLE CHILDREN TO STARVE bs non-stop, particularly on social media, I think he did surprisingly well.

It's interesting that President Trump is doing well with Asian minorities- especially Indians, and even the Chinese. That's a fatality the Democrats aren't coming back from, especially if his Hispanic numbers avoid total collapse.

Now, he has had reasons to go easy on AIPAC, but the latest attacks on Qatar and Heritage means that might be coming to an end. President Trump would be well advised to jettison the foreign agents, today.

Any reasonably intelligent person who is halfway objective can see that Dem policies have failed and that Joe Biden was our worst President.

Any reasonably intelligent person would look at the Republican party and see that most elected Republicans in Congress care more about donors than they do about their voters.

1. Trump was almost convinced to take the US to war against Iran and has spent an inordinate amount of political capital helping Israel.
2. We are still sending money to Ukraine.
3. Republicans are bitching and moaning about the globalist oligarchs paying taxes.
4. Republican nominated Supreme Court Pharisees decided that the Supreme court writes marriage laws in this country.
5. The biggest problem in these polls right now is that the AIPAC lobby through people like Mark Levin and Ben Shapiro are calling millions of Trump supporters Nazi's and anti-semites.
6. Republicans are not seriously addressing the affordability problem. Bankers need to hang and the Fed needs to be defenestrated.

If the Republican party does not grow some balls and address these issues there will be a third party. They will lose young white men which is whether you like it or not the future of the Republican party and the future of the United States as a free country.

Now, he has had reasons to go easy on AIPAC, but the latest attacks on Qatar and Heritage means that might be coming to an end. President Trump would be well advised to jettison the foreign agents, today.

AIPAC and the Israel first crowd has gone feral.

Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, Josh Hammer and others are driving millions of young men out of the Republican party right now. They have completely lost their shit. Shapiro is on CNN now to make sure everyone knows that there are NAZI's in the US now.

Most people here who listen to traditional media are missing the key detail that is dominating alternate media and completely changed the landscape: Charlie Kirk would not deplatform Tucker Carlson. Jewish donors cut millions in donations to TPUSA. Then he was killed and the jewish lobby started waving him around like a bloody shirt.

People are tired of the bullshit. The Republican party needs to realize that their donors are not going to buy them votes anymore.

Exclusive! Tucker is a victim of a attack by a Jewish demon hiding under his bed. True story!

"Tucker Carlson, the edgelord podcaster and former Swiss boarding school student, made headlines this week for several reasons. He risked his life by agreeing to interview "chemtrail" expert Dane Wigington, one of the only men on Earth with the knowledge and fortitude to expose the global plot to manipulate weather patterns with airplane-guided geoengineering. He followed that up by valiantly defying the outdated conventional wisdom surrounding Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German Lutheran pastor jailed for speaking out against the Nazi regime and executed for allegedly plotting to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Carlson shrewdly denounced Bonhoeffer as a "great man in some ways" who was nevertheless a bad Christian for trying to kill a fellow Christian who was just trying to solve a problem and defend his country from the Jewish-backed imperial aggression of Winston Churchill.

Carlson also appeared on a live episode of Megyn Kelly's podcast this week and detailed his encounter with a demonic entity that attacked him in his sleep and left bloody "claw marks" on his ribs. Carlson described being confused and unable to breathe before he was overcome by a "crazy intense desire to read the Bible." It was only after waking up the next morning and finding blood in his sheets that Carlson realized he had been nonconsensually assaulted by a "supernatural being." We wanted to find out more, and reached out to Carlson, who repeatedly urged us to self-fornicate "in a pile of dirty Jew money." So we sent a coded message to Biff Diddle, the Washington Free Beacon's trusty ombudsman. He also told us to go f— ourselves, but eventually connected us with a "mostly human" source who could establish a "somewhat reliable and ethically dubious" back channel to the Shadow Realm. That's how we managed to track down Tucker's demon. What follows is a transcript of our exclusive interview, which has been lightly edited (for length and clarity) and translated into three-dimensional English. Enjoy!"

"...That same openness informed his decision to platform controversial figures like Tucker Carlson, who has expressed views hostile to Israel. Many in the Jewish community condemned him for it. I shared their frustration; I, too, was unhappy with those choices. But I also understood Charlie’s conviction. His career was built on going to hostile college campuses and debating opponents. He believed – to a fault, perhaps – that every idea should be heard and tested in the open marketplace.

To interpret this as Charlie abandoning Israel is simply wrong. It hurt him deeply when Jewish organizations accused him of betrayal. Few of them realized how much time he spent defending Israel – both in public forums where it was unpopular and in private conversations where it was costly.

The very last meeting Charlie convened before he set out on his final campus tour was about Israel. On a Tuesday evening, hours before his murder, he gathered a small group of us on Zoom to prepare himself for the barrage of anti-Israel questions he knew he would face from students. He wanted to be ready to defend the Jewish state with facts and clarity.

That detail should not be overlooked. With everything on his plate, the final thing he did before stepping back into the fray of campus life was to sharpen his defense of Israel."

FACTS.

Peachy said...

"In death, Charlie Kirk is already being claimed by competing narratives. Some are eager to portray him as the ultimate Christian Zionist, an uncritical defender of Israel at all costs. Others are equally eager to insist he had abandoned Israel by giving a platform to anti-Israel voices. Both are wrong.

The truth is that Charlie Kirk’s relationship with Israel was complex, thoughtful, sometimes frustrating, and always honest. He loved the Jewish people and believed deeply in Israel’s place in the world. He also asked hard questions and insisted on hearing hard answers. That is not abandonment. That is friendship.

The pro-Israel community – and the Jewish community more broadly – would do well to remember this. A real friend is not a cheerleader. A real friend is someone who will defend you when you are attacked, even at personal cost, and still tell you when he thinks you are wrong. That was Charlie Kirk.

He will be remembered as a voice of courage in the America First movement, a leader who could unify factions that often mistrusted each other, and – though it may surprise some – as a defender of Israel. We may not always have agreed with him. Still, we should be grateful for him."

Candace is almost certainly wrong about Israel being involved in Kirk's murder IMO. But she has millions of subscribers.

If she is not confronted and engaged on the political level she will in the end win.

What I find interesting is that rather than confront and engage Candace on why she thinks Israel had a hand in killing Kirk, they are trying to deplatform her and call her a NAZI instead.

It is very much like they tried to do when she went after Macron's husband and she turned out to be right then also.

And why aren't we hearing about the results of the investigation into Kirk's murderer? We know he wasn't a lone wolf.

People are tired of the bullshit. They are tired of the constant lying. Trump calling people who wanted the Epstein files released names broke the trust.

Trump is going to have to earn that back again.

Seconded. Fuentes is a Mexican catboy who I'd turn down a coffee invite from. But he's not slime on the Ben Shapiro level. The fact is that Israel is becoming broadly and intensely unpopular worldwide. If Jews started talking about Pallywood when mutilated children are mourned in London, I genuinely think white liberals would attack them. Losing Republican support on top of that would ultimately be fatal to the whole project: if Seth Dillon (now a Christian) is making pager threats against Megyn Kelly, it's quite likely that they would murder Charlie Kirk. But that would be lethal to their standing in America, not justIsrael. I'm open to the idea that Charlie really was killed by a leftist assassin, but let's just say Lance Twigs had better be in witness protection.

DO NOT DRAG American Christians into supporting Bibi's war crimes. We did that -- support Israel and became their hired guns, under Bush/Cheney. Israel can't do the work without us. The Jews will NEVER be indepenent, it's not in their nature.

Sooner or later, Israel and America will go our own ways. Let's do it sooner. Again, everyone who puts Israel first can move there, support them, cheer the deaths of women and children. Marry them, bear their kids. Whatever.

DO NOT FORCE AMERICANS TO SUPPORT THE JEWISH HOMELAND. Why is this hard?

The 30-39 age group would include people who are Jack Bennying their age - saying they are 39 when they are in fact much older (and more likely to be Trump supporters).

And your proof of this is .....

I would never align up on Achilles side because he’s an extremist and I wouldn’t line up on Peachy’s side because she’s a dummy. Sorry Jimbo, you get a prize for being a poor reader.

You are a retard if you think I am on the same team as Inga.

Candace is turning on Trump because Trump is putting other countries over American's needs.

We are still sending billions of dollars to Ukraine and Israel. 70% of Americans can't afford a house.

But it is obvious the Epstein files only exonerate Trump. So why is Trump casting out Republicans for trying to release them? Why are the Israel First people going all out to cancel anyone who questions what is going on? There is only one reason Trump doesn't want the Epstein files released that makes sense and it is linked to the absolute meltdown going on with the Israel First crowd.

That was always the most likely option from the beginning.

You expressed - in that EXACT quote - an endorsement of nutcase Candace Owens. You know who else has recently been on the Candace Owens Crazy Train? Inga.

Oh no I’m NOT on board with Candace Owens. She was always a right wing nutcase and that hasn’t changed. If she occasionally says something interesting, it doesn’t mean that she and her crazy train are accepted by liberals.

doctrev said: “The fact is that Israel is becoming broadly and intensely unpopular worldwide.” WTF are you talking about? Israel is BECOMING unpopular? Israel has always been unpopular with billions of people. And their representatives at the UN present their disdain every dam time there is a vote.

Before it was voting- but even then, the UK and Canada have been reliable votes for Israel. Now they support a Palestinian state, and without American votes Israel would absolutely be under sanctions. Meanwhile, in America liberal Jews like Tom Friedman and Ezra Klein are abandoning Israel entirely. Republican support isn't enough to keep the ship afloat and I'm surprised anyone thinks it will be.

ALL Republicans should re-register as independents and then watch as actual stuff gets done for all AMERICANS.

Cry more. If you can't read the words I wrote and you think I endorsed what Candace Owens thinks on any specific issue and you want to be an emotional turd that's all you.

Kinda used to it here to be honest.

I don't really care if you can't handle the truth. Scroll on past and keep your little bubble safe.

Anyone who cares about America and putting America and Americans first will care though.

FACT not uninformed out of context spin
Bill Kristol is a prominent conservative commentator and co-founder of The Weekly Standard and The Bulwark, not a socialist. He has, however, made some statements using the term "socialist" in a self-deprecating or comparative manner to express his strong disapproval of certain Republican policies or figures.
Specifically:
In November 2017, in a tweet criticizing the GOP tax bill, Donald Trump, and Roy Moore, Kristol wrote: "The GOP tax bill's bringing out my inner socialist. The sex scandals are bringing out my inner feminist. Donald Trump and Roy Moore are bringing out my inner liberal. WHAT IS HAPPENING?".
In January 2019, he tweeted a similar sentiment: "Sometimes my inner democratic socialist struggles to be (re)born".
In January 2024, he clarified his views: "I think capitalism far superior to socialism, and free markets with a welfare state and some regulation far superior to a government-run economy with limited room for freedom. But if capitalists side with authoritarians--better social democracy than corporatist authoritarianism". This indicates he prefers a regulated free market (like social democracy) over authoritarianism, while still believing capitalism is superior to socialism in general.
These comments were made in the context of his "Never Trump" stance, where his disillusionment with the modern Republican Party led him to express an openness to ideas he would normally oppose, or even support Democratic candidates, which he has done in the past two presidential elections.
It is also worth noting that his father, Irving Kristol, was a follower of the Russian Communist Leon Trotsky while in college in the 1930s before becoming a key figure in American neoconservatism.
you gotta put in the context of "facts' or they are just spin.

First of all look at who the UK and Canada have elected as their leaders. That explains why they initially said they wanted a Palestinian state. But did you also see how quick they were to want to join the group that was proposing the plan for Israel to guide the rebuilding process? The Arab counties were on board so then they couldn’t jump in fast enough. Starmer is an idiot who truly jacket his country be invaded by Muslims and been a complete failure to make them pay for their horrendous crimes. And Carney from Canada is a complete and total idiot portably worse than Trudeau.
So, IOW, take your garbage viewpoint elsewhere because you proved nothing.
